The baby boy was given the name Memphis by his parents and the naming ceremony had been long held. Memphis was now a year old and he was able to run, talk and walk. As one belonging to a noble family, he had been quickly taught in the house. Due to Memphis having been an older person before, he was able to grasp onto everything very quickly.
Memphis had been reincarnated into a world called Balvan, a world where magic was prevalent and powerful mages and beasts roamed the lands. It had a near medieval setting with a bit of magical technology. In terms of comparison to Earth, the world of Balvan was far larger, almost thrice the size of earth, with a population of about 43 billion. There are thirty–two kingdoms in Balvan and one empire. At first, they were thirty three but one kingdom disappeared from the face of the world. All the thirty two kingdoms are vassals of the Empire and the Empire has much control over the kingdoms. The kingdoms have been categorized into three namely, top tier kingdoms, middle tier kingdoms and bottom tier kingdoms.Memphis was in Daris kingdom, one of the four top tier kingdoms in Balvan. His family, the Lerains, were part of the top three most powerful families in the kingdom, being ranked second after the Daris royal family. The other powerful families were the Murkham family and Zeron family of which all of them were in the capital of the Daris kingdom. They weren't the only Noble families as there were others like the Syphars, Kincaids, Macolms to name a few.In this world of magic, mages were highly respected and revered. Unfortunately, not everyone could become a Mage. One in five people had the chance of becoming a Mage and even for that, the possibility of them having only one element was very high.Perhaps had it not been for the Introduction of the Blood and bone element, many wouldn't have the chance to become powerful in this world of Balvan. Also, occupations like Potion making, Forgemastering, Formation making and the like were all in the world of Balvan. Guilds and hunting groups were common too and they frequently ventured into dangerous parts of Balvan to hunt beasts.Magic academies were also present where the art of magic was taught to young mages in the various kingdoms. There was also the Imperial Institute in the empire which was like a modern day university and one of the most sought after by all mages. The only ways one could enter into this prestigious place was to either pass their difficult tests which were held yearly or show high promise and talent during the All kingdom tournament. This tournament is organized by the empire for all the 32 kingdoms to bring their powerful mages right from their magic academies to battle it out for power, resources, rewards, fame and glory. It is held once every four years in the empire with contestants who performed well being given a chance to enter into the Imperial Institute.Due to the influence of the empire, wars are not common in the world of Balvan as all kingdoms were vassals to the empire and did its bidding. There are diverse cultures in the world of Balvan. From the Monari tribe who are like present day samoans to the Chong Kingdom in the east like present day Asians, each kingdom has different and varying culture which make the world of Balvan beautiful.Perhaps one of the bad sides of this world was the constant battle between beasts and men. Beast tides and other beast attacks are common on kingdoms and human settlements but fortunately, due to mages, the situation is always under the control. Also, the world of Balvan has many exotic resources which are not present on earth. From different crystals having different uses to metals like Darzyantine, Mithril and the like, the land of Balvan is full of resources.Indeed, the world of Balvan is the starting point of Memphis' journey and here he will shake the very foundations of the world!Rich kids and nobles have an edge over commoners or normal people and that is their wealth. They have access to money and resources that makes their life enviable and enjoyable. Fortunately for Memphis, he was on the good side of it. Back on Earth, he remembered the webnovel books he used to read in his boredom and solitude. Almost often, the protagonist was trash and later became stronger, or was from a Noble family that rejected him due to certain circumstances which made them struggle and toil for resources on their path to get stronger but well, not Memphis. As the only son of the family head, his family loved him and doted him. He wasn't just in any noble family but rather one of the most powerful ones in the kingdom. With this, he was sure that becoming a Mage was going to be a piece of cake.Currently, Memphis and his family were having their breakfast in the large family dining hall. Well dressed servants holding trays of sweet smelling delicacies entered and began to do the
Memphis is now five years old and he has reached an important part of his life; Awakening. Awakening was a process where people awoke their elements and became mages. It also allowed the person to find out if he had any innate characteristics. Generally, Awakening ceremonies were held when the individual was 8 to 10 years old but for those in Noble families, they had it five years. This gave them an early start in magic and by the time they reached the normal age, they would have broken through to the next level. In the Awakening ceremony, there were many things needed. There were three crystals needed. An awakening crystal, a white crystal to check innate characteristics and a purple one to check mana capacity. All these had been bought beforehand by the Lerains and it was left with the ceremony to begin. There was a lot of activity going on in the Lerain family mansion as servants could be seen moving quickly and carrying out their duties, decorating the mansion and arranging the r
Mana was the energy in which mages used to cast their spells. Thus, the more mana one had, the more powerful spells he will be able to cast. A mage without mana was like a gun without bullets; both wouldn't be that useful to anyone. Thus, all mages tried to increase their mana capacity to allow them to become more powerful. Memphis stood in front of the white mana crystal. Taking a deep breath, he place both hands on it and closed his eyes. "Concentrate on your magic," said Arius Lerain to Memphis. Memphis ignored everything and focused on himself like he had been taught. Slowly, there was a light blue glow emanating from the crystal. Irias Lerain took out a small device and held it near the crystal. Numbers started to appear on the device as the crystal continued to increase in intensity. The room was solemn as everyone waited hopefully. After all if you had four elements with gold Affinity but didn't have much mana to support it, you would be lacking in terms of strength. "10 unit
A week had passed since Memphis' crazy Awakening ceremony. Of course Ralph too had undergone his Awakening ceremony and when he met Memphis he was ready to brag about it."Memphis, could you believe that I awoke the Lightning element? And I have a gold Affinity for it too! I even awoke an Innate ability and an Innate body! I'm awesome right?" Memphis shook his head at his friend's antics. He didn't want to pop Ralph's balloon of happiness. He would probably have a seizure if he heard that he awoke four elements, had gold Affinity for all of them and awoke all innate characteristics on top of that! The Lerain Mansion was very huge and had a lot of open space for training and dueling. There were five different spaces, all for training and duelling. One was underground while the other four were to the North, south east and west parts of the mansion. Currently, Memphis was with his three Uncles, Talis, Philip and Donlan with his aunt Maureen tagging along. They had decided to take some t
Memphis woke up full of energy and ready to continue his learning. By the time his uncles and aunts had arrived, Memphis was already in the training grounds casting fire spells.Donlan nodded in satisfaction. At least his work would not be difficult. The boy was hardworking. Memphis seemed to notice their presence. "Good morning uncles and aunts! See, I've been able to make my own Fire spell!" said Memphis with a smile. "Excellent! Let us see it!" commanded Donlan. Memphis nodded and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath he thrust his hands forward. "Flame whip!" he yelled. Whips of Fire coiled around his arms. Turning around, he slashed at a nearby dummy, leaving a long burn mark. Donlad and the rest of his uncles begun to clap but Memphis wasn't finished yet. Thrusting his arms forward again, the flame whips left his arms and condensed into a normal looking spear. "Flame spear! Explode!" Little Memphis yelled out, hurling the spear with all his might to another dummy. The spear exp
Now Memphis had been able to master how to use magic. One day he was sitting in thought recollecting some of his memories back when he was on Earth. On Earth, He wasn't an exercise maniac like most young guys were because of his situation. Back in the gang, there were a lot of guys obsessed with keeping their body in shape. Memphis recalled a saying in his past world that a sound mind resided in a sound body. Thus, if he wants to become a great Mage, he must train both his body and mind. For the training of the mind, practicing of meditation would be the sure fire way to train his mind. Also, the constant use of magic and spells served as training for the mind too. Memphis decided to make it a point to always have a two hour meditation session in the morning and a three hour meditation session in the evening, making a total of five hours. He had long noticed that after becoming a Mage, his eyesight, clarity of thought and senses had become stronger than before. He could now sense mana
Memphis was now seven years. It had been two years after his Awakening ceremony and since then he had improved by leaps and bounds. Unlike other nobles who were wasting their time on social parties and splurging family wealth, Memphis was always indoors training and cultivating. Had it not been for his mother sometimes making him visit Ralph and go around the capital, he wouldn't have stepped foot out of the house. Due to this, all the maids, servants and guards respected Memphis because he wasn't a wastrel or snobbish young master. Memphis had kept up his strict training regimen and his body had developed very well. His body was now very strong and to his surprise he noticed that the stronger his body got, the more he was able to use magic freely without any hitch. His muscles had developed and his stomach had smoothed out, showing signs of hard abs. Memphis had long decided to incorporate some boxing and martial arts into his regimen too. Thus he had stopped attacking the training
For Mages, especially those of Noble birth who started early on the path of magic at the tender age of five, the time they broke through to become Advanced mages ranged from five to seven years so by the time they became Intermediate mages, they would be 10 to 12 years old. One was considered a genius if made it into the Intermediate level at the age of 10.On the other hand, normal mages who begun their journey at the ages of 10 and 11 normally became Intermediate Mages at 15 to 18 years. There were some though who broke through far earlier or later.Memphis was cultivating in the family cultivation room as he always did but he sensed something different these past few weeks. His elements were growing further apart and they were all pulsating with energy, showing signs of instability and restlessness. Memphis had read and knew it was a natural occurrence when one was about to breakthrough so he wasn't worried. It would be a great shock though if he managed to become an Intermediate m
