The moment Oscar beheaded Howard, the fire spirit stopped moving. Before it could even scream its body cracked. Its body breaks down into many shining blue particles. These were the mana that its body was made of. Some particles were pitch black but all of them disappear quickly. The only thing left behind was a basketball-sized crystal. It was mainly red but some parts of it had black marks.
"So, Oscar managed to do it in the end."
Kairi took the crystal and rushed to the place where she felt Oscar. While moving she felt that Oscar's life was slowly fading away. She increased her speed to reach him faster. And soon enough she reached him. He was lying on the ground, bleeding out. Next to him was a beheaded corpse that is starting to vanish.
"Oscar!"
There was a huge wound on Oscar's abdomen. He was losing a lot of blood. She gathered her mana and cast healing magic on him. His bleeding stopped and h
I was floating away. My sense of reason slipped away from me as I drifted away from the bright shore. The last rays of the sun were gone before I noticed and with them the last spark of my hope too.My eyelids trembled. My sense of reason already left me behind. Aside from that, I couldn't even feel my body now. The only thing I felt is that my being is drifting through something. I felt no coldness or any kind of warmness. I could only feel that something around me was moving.I reached ashore, I don't know when. I'm not even sure if it is really ashore. But I stopped moving. My surroundings also come to a stop with me. It was strangely dead calm.I wonder where I am? I can't seem to remember what was I doing last. I don't even know where I was.I sensed movement around me. It was several tiny creatures, I guess. I don't know how but the information directly flows to my mind. It... Is this me? Am I
This was only a few hours after the hellish night which was full of explosions. People were scared to leave their houses. Even though the sun rose high in the sky there was almost no one on the street of the city.Miranda quickly walked through the hallway and reached her son's room. She opened the door without waiting. She released a sigh of relief when she saw her son sleeping on his bed. She slowly walked closer to him and nudged him to wake him. Just a minute later he slowly opened his eyes and woke up."Mom?""Oscar, you should wake up. There are crazy things going on outside.""What? What do you mean?""You'll understand it when you saw the news. Come on."Oscar rose from his bed and rubbed his eyes. He followed his mother downstairs and walked to the living room. The television was on and the news channel was open. The news was showing a devasted land. There were many explosion craters and bur
Oscar inspected the shiny red crystal in his hand. It had black spots that gives an ominous feeling to him. Not to mention the amount of energy it held was incredible."It has some Aether in it too."This was the spiritual core of the corrupted fire spirit he and Kairi defeated. Kairi gave it to him after the battle. It was like mana crystals but not just the spirit cores hold too much mana they also have the concepts of spirits."The fire concept used by that strange man and the salamander-like spirit is was powerful. It isn't something astounding but it certainly is powerful."Oscar was inspecting the core. He didn't see the spirit itself use Aether to recover its mana but he can inspect it now with the core. His theories and research on Aether were stopped for a while. But with the help of the core, he was planning to continue. The last battle clearly showed him how weak he wa
(Oscar's Pov)Hmm? What is happening? I can't move my body. Where am I?!"Father, he came to the age. But he still hasn't awakened our bloodline power. We should do something about this!"Wait, I know this voice. He... Father. What's my father doing here? What bloodline power is he talking about?! And did he just mention the grandpa?!"Calm down, Robert. Let me inspect him. There might be a problem in his body."G-grandpa... What is happening? You died... A-am I d-dead too? Suddenly, I felt discomfort in my chest. It was similar to using mana to examine a body, but mana would give a warm feeling not this discomfort. Wait... How in the heck is this possible?! This is clearly foreign energy, and if I am not wrong my grandpa is using it."He doesn't have the hex organ. He didn't inherit our bloodline completely."He sounds... sad. And what i
"The magic is real.""There is an energy we can't see with our eyes. Its name is mana.""Your mother... She could have been healthy all along. She might have naturally possessed mana or the ability to see mana.""You can use mana to help people like your mother."Lydia shook her head to get rid of the unnecessary thoughts. No, they weren't the unnecessary thoughts, they were the delusions she feared. She sat up on her bed. The faint light of the moon was visible through the window of her room. She looked towards the moon."So today it's half-moon..."Tonight was the next night after Oscar's fight against Howard. The streets of the Daxhoull were empty from morning till night. No one was willing to leave their house. The government and the army were still inspecting the destroyed part of the forest and they were also patrolling the surroundings of the city.No one was talking but e
It was already four days since the night of the "incident". Oscar spent the last three days studying the spiritual core and his necklace. He didn't manage to uncover much but he was able to absorb spirit mana from the core and gained a bit of fire affinity. It wasn't much but his arsenal wasn't much, to begin with. He also gained a little bit of understanding about foreign energy. It had a weird reaction with Aether. With Aether, it became darker and more powerful. But it didn't last long. Soon it returned to its previous state. "This could be very well a "key" to use Aether, for me." He first thought that chasing after power was a greedy thing to do but not anymore. Aether was an energy that was barely explored. It has almost limitless potential in Oscar's eyes. Maybe even more than mana. Mana could very well replicate and reinforce natural phenomena. But according to Kairi even it has limit
"I've already recovered. I need to get back on my training also I need some new spells."Oscar muttered to himself. After talking with Mason he returned home for the day. Mason asked about what he should do and Oscar said that he should wait until things get... calmer. Of course, that was just distracting Mason. For a few days at most but every second he could gain was important for Oscar. What Oscar wanted was to gain enough time until he git stronger or at least Kairi recovered enough mana. After all, he can't guarantee that there aren't any other spirits out there. With those thoughts he fell asleep. The next morning he begun his research again."Since I gained mana, all I was focused on was Water Magic and its spells. They aren't necessarily bad. But I feel like I need variety."Water Magic itself isn't focused on offensive or defense. It is more like a middle ground. It has both offensive and de
(Oscar's POV) Hmm? The weather became cloudy, suddenly. I have been training for a while now. I think it's already been an hour or two at this point. I guess I lost track of time, again. It started to happen a lot these days. I can't help but get lost in my research. I don't know much about magic. So, learning something new is extremely important to me. Not just learning but practicing what I learned is also feel amazing too. It gives me the feeling of getting stronger. Anyway, today was a little different from other days when I practiced magic. Today I tried the original spells I created, mostly. First was the [Rock Bullet]. I inspired it from the novice level spell, [Water Ball]. Of course, I didn't use the same size as the water balls. I used the size of normal bullets. But the way it works is copied from the water ball. I changed some of the parameters. The spells are like little codes bu
