Lights were down and the city that relied on electrical power for lights, warmth and their phones to find each other and their missing relatives were set back to the stone age. Men looked for dry sticks and tattered clothes to make torches, while the women ransacked abandoned homes of those who perished or escaped to look for either gas, grease or molasses for the fire.
Pip felt like he won the lottery when he crashed against his high school buddy named Dalton Draco. They literally crashed against each other when the power went off, turning off the remaining street lights and scaring the souls out of the remaining survivors.
Creatures appeared in every direction, snarling and slithering on the ground. With Pip’s amazing senses, he managed to find the fastest route out of the middle of the city. As he did, he tried to convince the humans, but they shunned him and called him a monster, A syndicate and worker for the monstrous snakes, orcs and blob-like creatures of a hundred eyes.
A few did come with him, blindly believing in him. They managed to reach Nakoir city park where they separated ways.
And that’s when Dalton crashed against him.
Dalton was a half breed like him. He’s half cyclops, half human. And even though he only has one eye, he can see through the dark. Not only that but Dalton had the strength of a bear. Pushing and pummeling his way to safety by defeating and killing what he could. Thus he managed to keep himself alive.
Dalton and Pipper began to look for something they could use to travel their way out of the city. And when they’ve managed to take a car from a man who died from the hands of a beast.
As they drove, a helicopter hovered over them and announced: “TO ALL THE SURVIVORS, GO TO SAN DIEGO PORT. THERE YOU WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO THE CARIBBEAN ISLANDS. I REPEAT, GO TO SAN DIEGO PORT FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY!”
“Looks like we have no choice but to go there, huh?”
“I know.” Dalton answered. “I never liked being stuck somewhere where a quarter of the population is normies…” He sighed and shook his head. “I never liked the feeling of being stared at because I’m different. But it’s different for you though, Pip. You can look normal whenever the sun is up. But I… I was born like this.”
Pip nodded but kept his eyes on the road as he drove. “At least you don’t get treated as a fetish.” He joked. “Some women date me because they have a werewolf fetish. One time a girl made me howl while we fucked.”
“SICK!” Dalton said as he laughed. “At least you get laid.”
The two of them became quiet. And when they’re only a few miles away from San Diego Port, Pip stopped the car and looked at Dalton. “You know what… I have a feeling that we should stay here instead.”
Dalton’s eyes narrowed. “Feeling? Like a sixth sense?”
“Something like that.”
Dalton smiled, and he silently agreed. “Cool. I don't like being stuck with those normies anyway.”
=================
On the other side of the world, just before the city of St. Clair crosses Mount Hanawakaluki---the oldest fortress where the Humans and Sorcerers used to consult each other remains standing. An assembly has been called, and all the Presidents, the Prime Ministers and the Head Counsel of the Sorcerers must come.
Hanz Jiagro announced that the world is in turmoil, declaring the world — humanity and all living things in danger for half of the world was situated in darkness. A few Sorcerers were assigned to guard the main gate, while human forces, the soldiers and the line men kept guard at the first gate. But they’re not the usual military soldiers.
The marines who are set to guard the gate are trained ones, the ones who can stand on their own and use little magic to trace and ward the minions of the darkness.
The other soldiers and Sorcerers have been assigned to investigate and track where the first creatures of the dark were spotted.
The Elder's, also called ‘The Sorcerer Supreme’ of their own counsels, knew that this was no coincidence, and they're expecting something worse is about to come.
There were almost a hundred of them who gathered inside the chamber that had a barrier spell..
Theodore the Gray, the grandson of Hasintha the White, was the only one standing inside the room. His hair was black with a few silver strands and he's taller than others as he stands almost 6 feet and 3 inches tall. And his eyes were colored golden brown. He sporten a modern man look but held the greatest weapon that could be given to any sorcerer alive. The staff of Gemini. Forged and enchanted by the Eklitel tree. Theodore the Gray is called the Supremacist of all the Supremes until his last days here on Earth. He checked everyone around, to see if there were any unfamiliar faces. When he felt that nothing was suspicious he signaled the two men standing on the big wooden gate for the doors to be sealed as the assembly was about to begin.
"May I have your attention, everyone." He called, and when he did the room became silent and everyone remained still. All eyes are on him. "I am well aware that all of you know what happened a millennium ago. The giants killed every single witch — including Antheia Lukemore, the witch who damned the Pillars, ending a thousand years of truce. When the giants vowed to disappear after they’ve shed blood, they left us with a dragon to care for. That if the dragon’s chain was destroyed and it came back to them — blood will rain again. Now… that dragon has been released.”
Theodore looked all around the room and noticed how tense everyone was. "You are all sensing the same fear as I am. I can feel the Earth shaking little by little. The giants has sent us a warning when he made half of the world dark and the other half sleepless. For many years, we, the sorcerers and the humans have been at peace and are keeping guard of this dragon. But… I must admit, we are at fault in someway. One of our own neglected his duty, thus placing the world in grave danger. Since then the creatures of the dark became more and more aggressive."
Some people from the crowd began to whisper to each other, and the others remained quiet.
"Who is this Sorcerer?!" Khalessi, the Sorcerer Supreme whose influence is widespread in West Krishme, her territory is near the broken Volcano named Vulkan. The place where giants were said to come out during the war. “Tell me the name of the Sorcerer responsible for this and make him pay for the darkness my land — my area of protection is experiencing! The City of Nakoir was said to be protected by the Warlock named Igroy was the Sorcerer Supreme assigned to the city and I heard he barely made it out alive. Since then the creature is terrorizing other cities as well! The last time the tarred ones attacked us, many were critically injured---the healing sap extracted from the Eklitel trees from the Forest of Wonder barely saved them from death!"
Soon the men and women inside the chambers began to clamor, murmurs and panicked whispers resounded throughout the closed room.
Theodore signaled for everyone to settle down and be silent. He raised his hand and slammed the bottom of his staff against the sacred ground. A summoning circle appeared around them. The black lines shined from dark to red and the symbols spun around until a vision whirled inside the chamber. "Hecate, our goddess, is aware of this and showed herself through a dream that I've had three weeks ago since the attack happened. This is why we needed this assembly, I need you all to know what's coming... And you cannot be afraid, all of us cannot be afraid. We need to be able to fight. This is why the Sorcerers counsel exists... That’s why we are blessed with this power and are blessed to grow as a community! We must be prepared for the return of the giants as well, for the goddess herself told me about blood shed that we've never seen before. But before then, fortify the barriers. Others will go to the forest, harvest the fruit of the Eklitel tree to create not only protections... we also need new weapons. If the giants kill us all, the world may end and there is nothing that can stop it."
Gretta of Theal, the mother of Fraco Romulus, stood up. She's one of the Supreme's who specialize in studying the magic that can be extracted from the Eklitel Tree. Along with her husband, they're the one who discovered that the flowers that bloomed from the forest can be used as a Barrier. "Supremacist, my husband and my family will be happy to offer our expertise."
"Perfect."
"But I do have one request." Gretta said. "I wish to talk to you… in private."
Soon the assembly among the Sorcerers and leaders of the world came to an end. They left the protected chamber while saying their farewells, each showing their respect by showing their wrist where a symbol had been tattooed on their skin. A tattoo that signifies their promise to keep the location a secret. When most of them set off and went on their own ways, Theodore called for Gretta of Theal. The old man pointed at a door on the west side of the chamber. "This way." He said. Gretta followed the latter quietly and gave a signal to the others who's waiting for her. As they went through the door, slowly they descended on a spiral staircase which leads to a secret room. The room was dark and had thin air that reminded the Sorceress of mountains from the Himalayas. A spark of fire came from a match, then Theodore proceeded to light twelve candles. The room turned bright and it revealed centuries old wall paintings of the past. The room was shaped like a crescent moon, and the ceiling
A woman runs about the room, pounding on the walls, the floor, hoping to spring some sort of trapdoor, and come across some secret entrance. “Help me!” Her loud screams can be heard in the empty room. A room with no doors. No window. A single bed, and during the night, that man appears. “Help me! Please… spare my life!” And as she begs for mercy, the laughter in her ears is getting louder, unbearable. “Help me! Please! Help, I can’t take it anymore!” Her calls were unanswered and she screams in frustration to the bare walls. She lost her sense of time. How many days had passed since she had been trapped? Used. Abused. Being touched. Nonconsensual. The terrifying face of the man. Everything. She was afraid of his entire being. “Tch. How noisy.” Cynthia froze at the sound of his voice. It’s him again. A man. Cynthia whirls around. “When…” Her lips trembled as she whispered. “...when will you let me go?” A wicked man chuckled, seemed untouched and unfazed by the dank and dust of
"I am but a man bound to this stone forever," the handsome man responded. He held up a slender wrist and she saw that a manacle with a black chain kept him bound to the stone, and with only a few feet of chain between his and the rock. "I have been here for quite some time, and so I have learned a great many things. I shall give you what you seek, if you wish it, my lady."The young woman was outraged with the injustice against the handsome man. She asked her, ‘What could he have done so wrong to be tied up like an animal?’ But she did not dwell on the thought for long, because the words he said tempted her."What do I seek? You mean you can grant wishes?" The curious girl said, stupefied."Yes, my dear sweet girl. I can tell from your eyes that there is something you want indeed, is there not? Wish for it, and it will come into being."The young woman knew what she wanted, for it was always something she longed for in her dreams. She knelt on her knees and pleaded,"Please, oh noble
So it was a dreary day, choked with mist that the Queen discovered that she was getting too old to live much longer, and the thought terrified her to her old bones. She wished to live in luxury forever, but she saw that it was impossible. Then she remembered the handsome man on the pond, and how his magic had made this all come to be.‘If he could do all this for me…’ the old Queen thought, ‘then why not make me live forever? That would make all my worries disappear, won’t it?’ So the old Queen left her castle for the first time in many years and set out alone to the forest with the pond. She had to stop many times, for she was very old and weary. Yet finally, she made it to the clearing. She did not see the handsome man, but she did see that the low fog was thick and cold. It swarmed around his ankles, sucking the warmth from her body. The old Queen ignored this and walked to the edge of the pond. She called out for the handsome man to appear at the top of her trembling old voice un
Faith and hope is a strange thing, Dalton and Pipper knows, tenuous, erratic, often irrational.Perhaps it’s this, most of all, that makes it so painfully easy to suspend hope. For a minute, an hour, a full day. Perhaps the ease with which humans manage it –synapses shutting down with a whine before the brain can even comprehend the image.Because what the eyes are seeing isn’t there at all, can’t possibly be there– is a sort of elaborate defense mechanism, evolved over the centuries to preserve the sanity of the species.Pipper never believed in the otherworldly and yet he’s experiencing something that is beyond imagination. Beyond what he could comprehend, but he’s willing to cast that aside, for now, willing to trust that he isn’t hallucinating. What he does hope for though, is that the boy’s face was something he hadn’t seen before. He felt so real, yet isn’t real — real like he is, flesh and blood and bone, real like the wood of his bedstead. What he gives faith, even now, even a
The expression ‘waking up on the wrong side of the bed’ had never been more apt for Fraco than it had the next morning. He tossed and turned on his bed throughout the night until finally falling into exhausted slumber in the early hours of the morning. They’re about to leave. Yet, he was having a hard time going through his morning routine. When his eyes had cracked open under the insistent pressure of sunlight streaming into his room, feeling like shit was pretty much an understatement. He had staggered to the shower and after stripping off his clothes, he had stood under the full blast of water, trying to force himself into some semblance of consciousness. It took him the better part of half an hour before he began to feel even remotely human, or at least, human enough to stagger out of the shower, dry off and dress. Even so, he felt that bone-deep exhaustion in his limbs and his eyes felt sore, tired and slightly painful.Maybe it’s because of the nightmares.“Enough, Fraco,” he to
Pipper’s shoulders tensed and a nervous chuckle came out of his lips. “Ye—yeah.”Dalton chuckled softly. “I understand you, bud. Just… remember to talk to me whenever you feel alone, yeah?”Pip took a deep breath, trying to steady his nerves even though his mind was gibbering just a little. “Thank you.”“Give it time.” Dalton was staring into the distance, seeming as if to be staring into the depths of his own memory. “Even the half breed named Johnas had a hard time trusting the power inside of him. But you know what I like about him?”“What?”Dalton smiled. “Even though the normies hated us, at school when everyone was attacked, he helped who he could. He has this unwavering will to protect those who are weaker than him.”He sighed and glanced at Dalton. “I don’t know if my heart or intentions are as pure as Johnas.” Pip admitted, as he looked down on his hands.“You have to be patient with this sort of thing.” Dalton said. “Everything has a purpose. It may not be crystal clear now,
If he had been forced to choose a sound to describe what happened next, the closest would have been a swoosh, perhaps; and as that sound began, that globe of fire suddenly exploded into a large ball of fire that enveloped those creatures, throwing out waves of blistering heat even from this distance, and then, they began screaming as the fire consumed them. He concentrated again and a whirling globe of fire surrounded them, containing the flames, trapping their writhing forms within as they thrashed and burned within that blast of flame. When their cries faded away, when the fires had burned out, leaving piles of ashes in their place, only then did he release the barrier of air that had sealed them away.“Impressive though perhaps a little inefficient,” A cool, calm voice noted.A man appeared from the mouth of the passage, dressed in white tunic. The fabric reached down to the ground, and a dark and grim expression loomed on his face. Fraco, Kane and the others could only see a shad
