Luthan sat in the hotel lobby, eyeing his unwanted visitor warily. Camille sipped her coffee, throwing him casual smiles.
“I didn't come here to watch you drink. Get to the point and leave,” Luthan said candidly, but she remained unfazed by his words. “How have you been, Luthan?” She asked instead. His eyes narrowed at her. “My well-being is not the reason you're here, Camille. Cut the chase or I will be forced to leave you,” Luthan coldly stated. “You are still as impatient as ever my dear, Luthan,” she smiled. “What is wrong with checking up on my ex-husband, huh? Can I even say that? Last time I checked, we were still legally married.” Luthan was flabbergasted by the boldness. First, she connived with his family to take over his properties and slept with his brother, even had children for him, and now, she was here, reminding him that they were still legally bound. “I suppose you're here for a divorce then. I'll have my lawyers prepare the papers and send them over to you,” Luthan said, rising to his fit. “I am entitled to half of all your properties, you know that, right? Still interested in going down that road?” Her words stopped him dead cold. So this was what the scheming woman was up to. “Good thing you already everything then,” Luthan shrugged. “That is not how it works, you know that!” Camille laughed. Luthan faced her this time. His face was as blank as a mask. “Just in case you hadn't noticed, our marriage was over a long time ago. You slept with my brother and had a child with him. For your information, the prenuptial agreement we signed, stated that in the case of a divorce, we get to keep what we came with. I don't even care about what you did to me but you and that husband of yours will pay for everything you did to her,” Luthan stated. Camille's face paled out. Had Mary already exposed all their dealings? Even after the warnings? “Luthan..” “Your time is up, get out!” He cut her short. Camille opened her mouth to say something but the glare he shot her way forced her shut. She picked up her bag slowly. “You are really arrogant, you know that!” She hissed. “Once your stupid lottery money is exhausted, you will be the one begging at my feet!” She turned away to leave but his voice stopped her. “Expect the divorce papers today. Do well to sign it and send it back immediately so everything can be finalised by tomorrow.” Camille scoffed and stormed out of the building. Luthan reflected on her last words to him. Lottery? How stupid and shallow-minded could these people be? They have been so used to reaping where they didn't show that they thought one couldn't make such an amount of money from hard work. Huffing, he took the elevator back to his room. His foul mood was lifted the minute he saw Marilyn. “Luthan?” She called softly. “Is that you?” “Yes, darling. It is me,” he answered, joining her on the bed. “I'm sorry I took so long. I just happened to run into something that totally wasted my time. Room service will be here soon with breakfast.” She reached for his hands and Luthan took it gently. “Thank you for everything you're doing for me. I really appreciate it,” She said. “Maybe someday, I might be able to return the favour.” “Someone once told me it's not help if we are expecting a reward,” Luthan smiled, and she chuckled. “I should have been a teacher. Wasting all that good advice on a little rascal,” she teased, and he laughed. “Right! I can't wait for you to open your eyes and see this rascal.” Mary's smile faded into confusion. “What?” “I already contacted the best ophthalmologists and plastic surgeons far and wide. Everything will be fixed in no time. They should be here in three days at most,” Luthan informed her. Mary was at a loss for words. If anyone had told her she would ever recover her eyesight, she would never believe them. There was no way she could ever repay such a favour. Luthan noticed the shift in her mood as she clutched tightly to his arms. “Mary…” “I hate to be indebted to people, even if you are doing this out of the goodness of your heart, I can't bring myself to accept it,” her voice cracked as she spoke. “I already told you. You saved my life once, allow me to save yours in return. This is not you owing me a debt. It is me repaying the debt I owe you. It makes us even,” Luthan explained. “I… I don't want to burden you…” She sniffled. “You could never, even if you wanted to. You are going to be fine, I'll make it right by you, I promise.” The room service soon arrived with breakfast, after which Luthan hired a nanny to take care of Mary. It was time for business. “Ciel, do you still have the cards from the party?” Luthan asked the guard. “Yes sir.” “Good. I need the estate manager,” Luthan said and the guard walked away to get the box where he had saved all the business cards. The guard went through the cards and finally pulled out that of Raven Duke. “Real estate management,” He said, handing the card to Luthan. “Thank you, Ciel. You can return the rest of them.” Luthan dialled the number on the card and waited for an answer. Raven was seated in the bathtub with his crowd of women when the call came in. He stared at the caller ID for a while, searching his memory for anyone he might have given his number to. He swiped the answer button and waited for the person to speak. “Hello, this is Luthan King. Am I onto Raven Duke?” On hearing that voice, Raven practically flew out of the bathtub. It was the very call he had been expecting. The women were surprised by his actions but didn't follow him. “Mr King. It's a pleasure. I have been expecting your call,” Raven struggled to keep the excitement out of his tone. He perceived Luthan to be a very rich man with exquisite taste and he wasn't wrong. “I want to buy an estate.” “An entire estate?” Raven's voice faltered a little from shock. None of their customers had been rich enough to afford an entire estate. A house alone was worth millions. “Yes. I suspect you're less busy so you wouldn't mind giving me a tour,” Luthan said. “Of course! Send me your location, I will be there in a jiffy!” He could barely contain his excitement this time. “Grandeur hotels. I'll be waiting.” The line went dead before Raven could utter another word. He paused for a moment to rethink the words he just heard. Grandeur hotels? Wasn't that the same hotel that his mother complained was fully booked by some rich man? Could that be Luthan? He shook off the thought. That was nothing compared to the huge deal he just landed for the family. He was certain Luthan would become a regular if he was impressed enough. Hurrying to his closet, Raven dried off and picked out a shirt with tailored trousers. “Leaving so soon?” He glanced at the naked woman by the bathroom door. “Yes. You should leave too, I won't be back soon,” Raven responded, grabbing his iPad and keys. The drive to Grandeur was short and as promised, Luthan was waiting for him at the reception. “Mr King.” “Good to see you, Duke,” Luthan took his hand, without returning the smile. It didn't bother Raven much, even at the event, Luthan's stoic expression remained the same. He was either angry or expressionless. “You stay here? I supposed you would have gotten a house,” Raven decided to bait him into confirming his suspicions. “I just got into town, but I am sure you can handle that. You're the housing expert,” Luthan said. “But booking the entire hotel…” Raven trailed off, unable to hide his shock. “I like my privacy, Mr Duke. If you don’t mind, shall we?” Luthan responded vaguely. “Sure, I have a list of sites you might be interested in. They come at very affordable rates too.” “I don't care about the price. I want something that meets my standards.” “Oh, well,” Raven chuckled uneasily, closing the folder to open the exclusive sites. These were the Duke's latest projects, but the price tag wasn't what anyone could afford. Not yet at least. “I have a list of estates ranging from a hundred million dollars to seven hundred million,” Raven informed him. “About fifty to seventy acres.” “That's relatively cheap,” Luthan nodded. “Let me see the biggest one.” Raven had never been so shocked. After his tour with Raven, Luthan decided to visit one more person before returning to the hotel. When a Royce drove into his compound, Barry simply assumed it was a business associate who didn't know the boundaries of work. None of his relatives could afford a Royce. Barry leaned over the balcony, waiting for the visitor to step out. About three minutes passed before the car door opened Barry saw the one person he never believed he would see ever again. Luthan King. What in heaven's name was the man doing in his house? Three years had passed since their last encounter but this Luthan looked nothing like the man back then. Still, there was no way he could afford a Royce. Was it possible he was showing off another man's car? The Luthan he knew was straightforward. He didn't pretend to elevate himself before others. Either way, the man had no business in his compound.“Stop there!” He yelled from the balcony and Luthan stopped, lifting his head to look at Barry. “What business do y
Camille signed and retrieved the brown envelopes from the delivery man. She was curious as to what it was and decided to pry just a little. We were family, after all; surely they wouldn't mind just a little. She picked up the first one and opened it. “Divorce Agreement,” Camille read with a scoff. “The bastard was serious with this whole divorce thing. I will just have to meet Barry to discuss this later. Maybe there is some loophole we can exploit. I don't plan to watch him spend all that lottery money alone.”She put the document back in the envelope. She picked the second one and headed upstairs. Arthur was nowhere to be found which was a good thing. She quickly buried the document underneath the rug.Camille wasn’t ready to deal with it yet. She proceeded to open the next document, and her features paled out when she saw it was from the bank. She didn't want to believe it, so she flipped through page by page, reading as fast as she could. Apparently, Anthony Kings had used the m
It was not surprising that what happened at the Grandeur Hotels made the news. People were calling Luthan The Mysterious Multi-millionaire and there were speculations. Soon enough a photo began to circulate among blogs, it was the vaguest and most blurry picture of him at the hotel and you couldn't really identify him from the pictures but many of the people who attended the Carter’s party were easily convinced that it was Luthan. His name was soon flying about doubtfully but he didn't mind at all. He was fine with simply taking care of Mary Lynn while plans were being made for her surgery. Although he didn't mind, someone else was using the rumors to their advantage.Anthony realized early that they could use Luthan's new and sudden fame to draw in investors. Afterall, Luthan still had the last name King. There were a few people in the business circle who had heard of what happened at the Carter party but we're not there themselves. They may not have been as rich as the others who we
The case was won easily. It helped that Hector had completely distabilized Barry by that first visit and by appearing in multiple places where Barry visited while he gathered evidence for the case. It got to a point that Barry had to beg Hector to try and find a way out of it. He pleaded that he would do anything for the case to be dropped but his suffering and desperation only made Hector happy.Hector told him that Luthan had only one intention; to make Barry pay for his crimes and nothing the lawyer could say or do would override that plan. When Barry turned to the King family they abandoned him, they threatened him to keep their name out of his mouth if he wanted to stay alive for much longer. He pleaded again with Hector Williams for immunity, he promised to tell all that he knew about the Kings if Hector would help him out but Hector didn't promise him anything especially when it became clear that he didn't have enough dirt on the Kings. They were being careful with him because
As soon as Luthan was told this news he rushed to the room where the man was staying. He stood at the bed side, tears prickling his eyes as the man smiled. His body was frail and weak-looking like he might simply wither away in the wind the next second.“Didn't anyone ever tell you not to look at sick people like that?” Stanley said still smiling. “Try to look happy to see me will you?”Luthan shook himself and drew closer. “How did this happen?”“It's a disease,” the man said. “Those things happen. You can't protect me from everything Luthan,” the man whispered. “Can you do me some good and not look at me as though you're already at my funeral.”Luthan forced a smile and Stanley's grew wider. “Now will you introduce the lovely lady by your side?”“This is Mary Lynn,” Luthan introduced. “The lady I told you about.”“You didn't mention she was this pretty,” Stanley teased. “I feel stronger just looking at her.”Mary Lynn smiled and drew closer to his bed. Stanley took her hand and drew
Not long after Stanley Flair was declared dead by the doctor, the lawyer walked up to Luthan and asked him to speak at his earliest convenience. Stanley had already arranged everything for Luthan to be his successor and they planned to waste no time in putting things in place, no doubt this was all Stanley's orders.Luthan took on the responsibility as Stanley's living successor to make sure that Stanley was seen off the earth the way he wanted. He handled the funeral exactly the way Stanley had wanted and said a final farewell to the amazing friend he had stumbled into in prison and in life. The lawyer was quick and efficient. In no time all the assets were transfered to Luthan and as soon as he sorted out everything there he returned back to his city. While Luthan had just inherited an insane amount of money, the Kings were not doing well at all. The investors they had managed to pull using Luthan's name had deserted them at the early stages and they were on thin ice.Luthan had a l
“Let's talk in my office,” Luthan said as his brother's voice faded off in the distance. Jordan's eyes brightened as he realized that Luthan was considering his proposal.“I'm going to cut to the chase,” Luthan said when they were in his office. “I'll accept your proposal,” he continued before the smile could settle on Jordan's face. “But I'll need your cooperation on a little something before we get things signed.”“What's that Mr. Luthan?” Jordan asked eagerly.“I need you to buy a company for me,” Luthan said. He adjusted on his seat and placed a hand under chin.“But Mr. Luthan, you buy companies on a daily basis.” Jordan said, obviously confused. “I want to buy a company but I don't want them to know that they have sold it to me,” Luthan said.“Ah,” Jordan's eyebrows rose slightly. “I see.”“I'll handle all the costs of the entire deal all I need from you is the signature of the owner of that company on the document. Do you think you are up to it?”“Of course,” Jordan Reigns smi
“No way,” Camille laughed but the laugh came out more bitter than she expected and she pressed a hand over her mouth to stiffle the emotions. The woman who turned to look at her looked nothing like the Mary Lynn she knew. The woman who had had a face like a Barbie doll that was brought too close to a fire was unrecognizable from the face she looked into now.Gorgeous long lashes framed baby blue eyes. A button nose sat regally in the center of her face. Soft pink lips rested below it, stretched as though they were made for smiling. Her black hair fell in black, shiny, soft waves that framed her heart shaped face.“No way!” Camille barked out with laughter as Kimberly joined her. “The ugly duckling got a makeover!”Camille was glad to see that the smile was wiped of Mary Lynn’s face.“I didn't even realize that it was her,” Kimberly said, voice soft with surprise. “How did you know?”Camille could tell that Kimberly was getting swayed by the fact that Luthan had spent such money at her
