CHAPTER 41 : A TEST OR A PLEA FOR HELP?

That evening, the sky over Crex City turned a warm shade of orange. A gentle breeze carried the scent of damp earth, lingering after the afternoon rain. Roy had just finished reviewing the finances at the TFT clinic when his phone vibrated on the desk. He picked it up and saw Marco's name on the screen.

"Mr. Marco?" he greeted briefly.

"Roy, sorry to bother you. My wife is unwell. She often faints even with slight exhaustion. Can you come over and take a look at her?" Marco’s voice was noticeably softer than usual.

Roy raised an eyebrow. Strange. Marco, a well-known logical and skeptical police officer, was suddenly asking for his help? Was this a genuine plea, or just another test to prove his abilities?

After a few seconds of thought, Roy replied, "Alright, I'll be there soon."

He grabbed his car keys and stepped outside. His sleek black Pagani Huayra Roadster sat neatly parked in front of the clinic. Passersby cast admiring glance

CHAPTER 42 : CITY THREAT That morning, sunlight streamed through the glass windows of Sora’s grand house, casting a warm glow over the traditionally styled living room with modern touches. In one of the rooms, Sora sat on a wooden chair with thick cushions. His body looked significantly healthier than it had weeks ago. Though he still needed a cane for support, he could now move more freely. Roy sat beside him, carefully observing the condition of the man in his fifties. As usual, he conducted an examination with his fingertips, sensing the flow of energy within Sora’s body. Every time his fingers touched the man’s skin, a surge of information flowed into his mind, instantly displaying a diagnosis. “Your condition is improving. Your paralysis is almost completely gone,” Roy stated calmly. Sora nodded. “I can feel it too. My legs don’t go numb as often anymore.” Standing in the corner of the room, Winny watched Roy with curious eyes. She was a completely different person from

CHAPTER 43 : INNER WAR That morning, the sunlight streaming through the windows of Sora’s grand house felt warm. The clock had just struck ten, but the atmosphere in the spacious living room was tense. Several people sat around a long table, staring at one another with serious expressions. Roy sat on one side of the table, leaning back casually, yet his sharp eyes observed every face in the room. William, the elderly man who had come to regard Roy as his own grandson, looked restless. He let out a long sigh before speaking. “I… honestly, I hate dragging you into this, Roy,” William repeated heavily. “Charly’s problem is an old one, something that should have been settled five years ago. But now he’s back, and it seems he’ll do whatever it takes to seize control of Crex.” Roy remained silent, letting William continue. “Charly is cunning. He’s not just an ordinary criminal. He has a vast network—no one knows where he gets his resources. Five years ago, the four of us—Sora, Rube

At the reception desk, Elena sat gracefully, recording the details of incoming patients. Her sweet smile made the clinic's atmosphere feel warmer. Yolanda, who assisted her, helped direct the patients to the examination rooms. The clock struck ten in the morning when the clinic's main door suddenly swung open with force. A young man, around 21 years old, strode in confidently, followed by five burly men who appeared to be his subordinates. He was wearing an expensive leather jacket and dark sunglasses, his smile full of arrogance. He was Hory, a former schoolmate of Elena’s. Even back then, Hory had shown interest in Elena, bu

The dim streetlights barely managed to cast fleeting shadows of the dozens of motorcycles that came to a halt in front of the building. Rough-looking thugs dismounted from their bikes, clad in dark leather jackets and ripped jeans. Some wielded baseball bats, while others gripped iron chains. One of them, a man with a snake tattoo coiled around his arm, stepped forward and sneered at the clinic. "This is the place," he muttered, spitting out a piece of chewing gum onto the pavement. Without further warning, another thug swung his baseball bat at the clinic’s glass front door. The thick glass cracked before shattering into countless shards with a resounding crash that echoed down the street. "HAHAHAHA!" Their laughter filled the dark night. As if following an unspoken command, the gro

Roy glanced at his phone, which had been ringing several times. He sighed, picked up the phone, and quickly pressed the button to call Elena.“Elena,” Roy’s voice sounded calm, even in the midst of this tense situation. “Take the day off. The clinic is closed for today.”Elena, who was sweeping her long hair at the other end, was surprised by the order. “A day off? What’s going on, Roy? Didn’t the clinic just open up well? Why suddenly?”Roy didn’t answer right away. There was a brief pause, as if he was figuring out the best way to explain what had happened. He then took a deep breath. “Last night, the TFT clinic was damaged, Elena. Hory’s men came and wrecked everything.”Elena fell silent for a few seconds. Hory. That name exploded in her mind like a bomb. She knew exactly who Hory was. A

Despite the chaos that loomed outside the city, it felt as if this place was the only remaining haven of tranquility.Zelda sat next to Roy, looking relaxed, though her eyes frequently glanced toward the young man in the driver’s seat. During dinner, they had talked about many things—William’s aging, Sora’s improving health, and some rumors circulating about an underground group plotting to disrupt the peace of the city."Roy, you know," Zelda said softly, almost like a mumble, "if I had a daughter, I might have arranged a marriage between her and you."Roy glanced at her for a moment, staring at Zelda’s face, which seemed serious despite the small smile on her lips.
