Jones paced forth and back in front of Helena. He was actually expecting a call from Melvin after realizing that Melvin cared so much about her sister. Jones wasn't a seer, but he had predicted Melvin's next move since he was able to find out his vulnerability.
“Hey papi... What should we do now?” Daniel, who was already losing patience, asked.
“We wait.” He replied with a calm voice.
“You don't seem like a killer… Are you?” Helena radiated a smile at him, trying to pry. Jones only stared at her, keeping his facial expression in a way that depicts disinterested qualities.
“Just wondering though… Because it is insensible for someone who got no idea about killing to try to kidnap and kill someone.”
“What are your ambitions?”
“Huh?…Whatever. You don't want to talk to me, yeah. I respect that. But one question, please.”
“What is it?” He finally replied, but no concern in his voice.
“Why was I abducted?” She asked with the hope of starting a conversation.
“The less you know, the better for you.” Jones replied, putting an end to the already starting convo.
“I want to know now. Don't you get it! My mom is sick. I need to be there, I might even miss my flight. Please let me go.” She shed some tears while sobbing.
“Keep your voice down. Okay?” He scowled at her.
With no gap in time. The phone rang and it was Melvin.
“Helena… Get it together.” Jones said as he picked up the phone.
“Yes…?”
“I'm with Holly Minard now… So where is the point for exchange?” Melvin inquired.
“Put her on the phone.” Jones demanded.
“Hello…" There was serenity in Jones after he heard her voice.
“Holly Minard.” He chuckled and added, “What a nice name.” Jones grinned.
“Jones?? What the… Oh my god!!…" She exhaled sharply as she continued. “Do you know what you are getting yourself into? Huh? Answer me dummy.” She yelled deplorably. Melvin took the phone from her before Jones could reply.
“Time up. Now, where's the location.” Melvin asked again, trying to keep the conversation still without an abrupt end so that he could execute his plan flawlessly.
“I need a visual proof.”Jones demanded immediately.
“What the hell is wrong with you? Are you even okay? I never saw Helena. I never asked for a visual proof, so tell me, what the hell is wrong with you. Hmm?” Melvin was already losing it.
“Yes… You never asked for a visual proof, but I did.”
“We're two different beings… You get it.” Jones added.
“And who cares. There is no visual proof, and that's final.” Melvin sounded a little harsh and serious.
“Time doesn't wait for a man. Keep it cool and we play this fair enough.” Jones stated. Silence shadowed them for a few seconds, Jones knew that Melvin was frazzling out and this was exactly how he wanted it to play, if only Melvin played with the low moral standards he had expected from him. Melvin finally broke the silence with his inaudibly utterances before saying,
“Fine… Visual proof,” he sighed.
There was a buzzing sound demanding for a video call. Jones answered it, but Melvin's face didn't show, rather it was Holly Minard.
“Hey…" Jones greeted her.
“Remember what they taught us?” She said with a benevolent smile. Her brown eyes were demanding for help that Jones wanted to provide. Providing help for her was his top priority, and he was not ready to give that up until it's over. Maybe until death.
“Yeah. The only gift we were given. Yeah, I remember vividly.” Jones replied with a forceful smile. He was trying all his best to keep things, so Melvin couldn't know what sort of relationship they had.
“There is a lot of money from that… We can live with that. Just listen to them and uhm…we will be out of this mess. Okay?” She said.
“Alright…!”
“Just listen to me…Tell us the point of exchange and I promise you. There will be no tragedy.” She flicked her eyes.
“It will be at…uhm…" He exhaled sharply as he blinked his eyes as well.
“Yes… Tell me, where exactly.” She flicked her eyes again. It was a continuous feat until Jones finally gave out the location.
“30/11 Old McDonald's emporium. I know you're listening, Melvin… Meet me there by 8am tomorrow.” He said as they ended the call.
Melvin wasn't the only one who recorded the call. Jones did the same. But Jones' reasons were far different from Melvin's.
“That was smart.” Helena said, but she only got a smile from Jones.
“Did she just say smart… dummy!! Smart for recording a call…haha.” Daniel giggled.
“Everyone with keen discernment will record that call. Even Melis... Melvin, whatever his name, his recorded this damn call. You get it, Hele-na". Daniel lashed.
“It is not about recording the call. It about using it.”
“You get it, papi". Helena retaliated.
“It how about using it? You're so dumb… everyone is gonna use it, saphead.” Daniel scowled at her. While they were lashing themselves out, Jones was just calm, listening to them. He could see why he didn't like Helena one bit. It was all about the fight and how Helena almost won if he didn't intervene.
“I know someone doesn't know about morse code and the means how it can be communicated.” Helena's reply threw Daniel into questioning, asking Jones what actually happened and what their next plan was.
“It actually a morse code.” Jones said, staring at both of them.
“You heard him, papi.” Helena said while grinning at Daniel, keeping her mockery gaze at him.
“I'm not your papi.” Daniel said with an angry tone.
“So… What does it say??” Daniel asked. He didn't answer him, as he didn't want to disclose it. Not yet.
“Untie her.” Jones stated.
“Hey hey hey… Can you listen to what you're saying, untie her? No… no… no, I heard that right, yeah. I fucking did.” While Daniel was trying to interrogate, Helena felt a sudden frisson down her back.
“I'm finally getting out of here.” She thought to herself.
“But why? What's his plan??… Whatever, I shouldn't be dragged into this.” She tried fixing her mind reflection on her sick mom.
“Yes… Untie her, let her go. Her job is done.” Jones urged Daniel to a start, despite those words didn't subdue him well enough.
“But…"
“There's no but. I'll fill you in. Yeah, just let her go.” Jones said as he called one of his firm partners discussing something entirely different.
“Thanks… Jones.” Helena said as Daniel finally disengage the knotted fabric.
“Hmmm. Go meet your sick mom now.” Jones said, without even smiling.
“How about your…uh, Holly Minard?.” She asked with so much concern.
“That has nothing to do with you. Right? So leave!!” Jones said as he fixed his gaze on his cellphone.
“Well.” She exhaled and said, “Goodluck… But please keep in mind that Melvin will come after you, and letting a ticket that enables you slip out of the hands of a monster out isn't the best option. Well, you smart enough to figure out how you're gonna save your uh… Minard.” She flipped her shoulder-length hair and headed towards the door of the warehouse.
She was actually beautiful and one could easily lust after her on first sight. But Jones didn't even stare at her lustfully one bit. There was just one thing on his mind that supersede any other thing. Saving his family.
Daniel, who was nervously tapping his fingers on the table, aired out.
“Don't you think she's gonna rat us out”
Helena replied before Jones could utter a word.“I won't… Remember I detest Melvin and I never called you nor him abductors. Are we good?”“You didn't call us abductors? Whatever, but you don't trust us.” Daniel said.“Yes… I don't trust you, but I trust your weird friend.” Helena stated.“Weird friend?” Daniel chuckled and added, “Why not just tell him you like him.”“You say shit a lot. You know that, right?” She retaliated.“I might not be as smart as him, but I know love when I see one. You like him, and you're just trying to---” Jones cuts in instantly,“Danny!!!” “Hey!! You... I told you to leave. So leave.” Jones added, staring at her furiously. She just stared at him lustfully and didn't know when he complimented him. “You have a nice voice.”“I said it.” Daniel blasted.“No… That's not what I meant. I mean, whatever…" She sighed in exasperation and hurriedly left the warehouse.Daniel was about bringing up Helena up, but Jones' demeanor were all against that, and so he compl
It was already 8:00am, Melvin and his platoon were already at the intersection of Donald emporium waiting patiently for Jones' arrival. He wasn't there to strike the deal as proposed, but to gun down Jones and get Helena without handling over Holly Minard.Joan walked to Melvin and said, “It's getting late, boss.”“I know… But I'm not leaving here without taking down that wimp.” Melvin responded with so much serious in his voice. With no gap in time, Two blue SUVs accompanied by a patrol car shoved in, in the opposite direction, but kept their distance.“Get ready….” Melvin said via the spy microphone. The cars, except for the patrol car, halted to a stop at the intersection of the emporium. The patrol car limped slowly to the side of the intersection. There were also two other black sedan cars coming from the left direction.“We got two black sedan cars coming leftward,” one of the lackeys who was placed to spy on the surrounding said to Melvin via the microphone.“What?!!” Melvin ex
Melvin was at his lowest point during the combat and this was a great break to take down Melvin once and for all, but Scott was thinking meticulously not to fall into Melvin's traps again.Scott was almost killed two years ago after the news about the unknown terrorist; Melvin Otani hogged the media for a very long time. Conspiracies towards Melvin's downfall were almost carried out before someone from the inside leaked information and that only didn't compromise the whole plan but centralized Scott as the major target by Melvin's squad and killers contracted by Melvin.Going against the government protocol and attacking Melvin almost got him killed, even though he nearly conquest. Melvin took to his kneels as usual, Scott chased him until Melvin had just one option left. Surrender or die.It was at that moment that everything was about to end before an abrupt covering fire was opened against Scott. Someone on the inside was definitely working with Melvin, and it was obvious when the
When Holly Minard woke up, the darkness in the room shadowed her. It wasn't the darkness that resulted in the discomfort, it was the effect of the backhand slap, which still felt like it happened a minute ago.Looking at her suit trousers, she saw that they were shimmering with a blue haze. She snatched her head up to see the security camera hung on the wall with a hook underneath the gap of sliding. As she stood up, propelling herself towards the direction of the blue haze, every light in the room was switched on in unison. She gasped and pressed her hands to her eyes, force tossing her backward. The enlightenment had totally swayed her head with stars and caused a loss in balance. She squinted at the glare, anticipating a door to be opened. With no gap in time, a door from behind opened.“Come on,” said a burly man whose eyes only were hazardous, unlike his lovely voice. Minard staggered forward with her eyes slowly adjusting to the light.“Sit…and eat,” the burly man said. She da
Joan regained his lost strength in a lickety-speed and rashly grabbed Holly Minard by her leg before she could pace towards the direction of the car. She quickly bumped him with her free left leg, but he reacted by clasping her left leg together with the other. He swerved her from her feet by dragging as he stood up swiftly. “Ahh…" Holly Minard grunt as she fell to the ground.“Don't…", Alan said, pointing a gun at him before Joan could attempt knocking her off.“Back off… Take three steps backward,” Joan did as he was instructed. Minard ran briskly towards Alan.“Get in and keep the car running.” Alan said to Holly Minard without turning to her. All gazed were fixed on Joan.“Don't move until I say so!” Alan yelled at Joan, who took a step backward. He couldn't risk running because the distance from his exact position and the L-shape wall of the building wasn't convincing for running.“Don't M-O-V-E !!!” Alan said with a hard-soft plea. Joan could have been able to recognize him if
It took just an hour drive from the quarter to the safe house, as Alan put it. It was actually a safe house designed for Ty and his men. Ty was a semi-professional boxer, who was so carefree and bossy in behavior, but that didn't change him when Jones contracted him. His loyalty preceded him, and Jones valued loyalty above all.“Come on… You don't give up, hit harder,” Ty urged the two boxers in the boxing ring.“Who do you suggest to be the winner?” Alan asked as he sat close to Ty.Ty pointed at the burly guy whose skin was almost blue with tattoos. “He's gonna win as usual.” The other guy sparring in the ring had a clean skin with a pigtail hair. The sound of leather smacking hard and the cheer-on from other guys echoing in the vast space that early morning woke Holly Minard up. She wasn't sleeping with so much comfort, so any little distraction was a full distraction.“Hello Minard,” Ty greeted when she walked towards the boxing ring.“How are feeling?” He asked.“Uhm… Not bad, j
Alan quickly took his cellphone and dialed Jones' number. It wasn't going through, and it had nothing to do with network coverage, but one couldn't tell if not told. Ty walked towards them and handed a card to Alan.“Take this… Use this number,” Ty said, and gave him a card that had a foreign number on it. Alan just nodded and took the card.Ring!!!!“GJ on the online, what's the emergency?” Jones answered. This was the emergency line provided only for emergency cases and this was nothing other than being an emergency case.“Hey Jones… It's me, and I'm with Holly Minard, and we were ---”“Everything is fine…???” Jones asked with a hushed voice. With Alan's skittishly breaths, he answered,“No… no, we are not fine, Melvin traced us to the safe house, We are under attack.”“How's Minard?” He asked, but Holly Minard didn't allow Alan to answer before she yanked the cellphone from him and said.“We're completely surrounded, Melvin's guys are here, and uhm… Everything is… I don't know what
The rasp of the metal door opened slowly on its hinges, followed by a squeaking produced by the metal bob swinging back and forth. The high-pitched sound of the swinging metal bob de-escalated as Melvin's guys steal in. When Alan got there, the metal door was already ripped off and smoke filled the air, with a non-stopping fire, making it difficult for Alan to see his target. It was a chaotic and dangerous situation, with bullets whizzing past and ricocheting off metal surfaces. There were lifeless bodies on the ground when visibility was restored. Alan, who was behind a pillar that connected to the entryway leading to the stairwell, came out with his pistol ready to pull the trigger, if necessary. He moved surreptitiously towards the boxing ring. Well, he was wondering why there was a sudden break in the gun shots. A slightly overweight guy lunged at Alan as he drew closer to the boxing ring, but he quickly darted to the left and unleashed a devastating punch to his chin with his e
