Chapter 2

"Vernon, the work here is done; let's go home," said a man who had finished caring for the fields and invited Vernon to go home as it was getting late.

"Yes, Daddy," Vernon said with a smile, closed his book and walked after his father.

"You're reading that book again," said Vernon's father.

"Yes, father, I want to be a wizard," said Vernon.

"I'm sure you can become a great witch in the future," Vernon's father said, encouraging Vernon. Vernon's father didn't tell Vernon that only the talented could become a witch. He didn't want Vernon to be disappointed, so Vernon's father just kept encouraging him.

After that, the two of them arrived home. They were immediately greeted by Vernon's mum, who came in smiling, "You're home; I've prepared dinner; you can eat right away after washing your hands."

Then Vernon's mum entered the kitchen and brought out the dinner dishes.

Dinner was just the usual fare. Rice with a few vegetable side dishes and a bit of meat. But Vernon didn't mind this meal. The staple food was bread from other world stories he read on Earth. Whereas Vernon had a habit when on earth of eating rice so he preferred to eat rice.

The family sat at the dining table and began enjoying their meal. After dinner, they chatted a little about the problems on the farm, and then Vernon went to his room to sleep.

Half a month passed quickly, and today was Vernon's birthday. As usual, nothing different happened today. Except for dinner, where more delicious food was served. Then Vernon's parents congratulated him. Then, after enjoying the dinner as usual, Vernon returned to his room.

Vernon's room was dark, and only the night skylight illuminated it. In this world, lighting did not use electricity, but there was an energy stone that could glow and was used by nobles as a lamp. For normal families like Vernon's, energy stones were expensive, and they couldn't afford them. After all, a magic stone that can only last for an hour is already very expensive.

Vernon sat on his bed and started reading a book about this world. This world had the same currency: bronze, silver, gold and large gold coins. One hundred bronze coins are equivalent to 1 silver coin, ten silver coins are equivalent to 1 gold coin, then ten gold coins are equivalent to 1 large gold coin.

Vernon's family could only make at most five silver a month. But with that much money, it's enough to cover their daily expenses, and they can even save a few bronze coins monthly.

As Vernon was reading, he started to feel a little sleepy. Therefore, Vernon immediately put his book on the bookshelf and prepared for bed.

Just as Vernon was about to fall asleep, suddenly, he heard a cold voice.

"Congratulations to Mr Vernon for having his tenth birthday in this world. With this, Mr Vernon can access the Invoker system that Mr Vernon has from the game you previously played, "Open Universe."

"Because this is Mr Vernon's tenth birthday and the first time Mr Vernon can use this system. The system allows Mr Vernon to summon one of the characters that Mr Vernon has in the Open Universe games, but on the condition that the character's strength is only the fifth weakest or lower compared to all the characters Mr Vernon has."

"Mr Vernon should be careful in his summons. Mr Vernon must remember the trait with which Mr Vernon made the character in the past. If Mr Vernon made the character a traitor in the past, then Mr Vernon must be careful of any betrayal that may occur."

Hearing the voice, Vernon immediately woke up and did not feel sleepy anymore. He immediately shouted, "The system is finally coming to me."

The Open Universe game is a game that Vernon played before he came to this world. This game is a game that has a monster boss that Vernon fights for three full days to be able to defeat.

In the Open Universe game, Vernon takes a job as an Invoker of ten called a summoner. But in this game, Invoker has a unique thing: they can design the character they summon, be it their shape, gender, nature, characteristics or race. For its strength, it must be adjusted to the items used to create the character. The rarer the item used, the better.

Vernon is a person who plays in the game very often. Vernon was also dubbed the Strongest Invoker. He has even made more than 100 characters that can be summoned. Vernon also often upgrades summoned characters that are quite weak. Therefore, even though the current system only allows him to summon one of his five weakest characters, they should be quite strong in this world.

"Then how do I get another character summoned?" said Vernon in a small voice for fear of waking his parents sleeping in the next room.

"Mr Vernon only needs to speak silently, and the system will answer him immediately. The system will give Mr Vernon a chance to summon more characters if Mr Vernon has enough power. After Mr Vernon gets stronger, there will be more characters that can be summoned. Then, Mr Vernon also needs items to shape the character, just like in the game. In the game, Mr Vernon can design the character, but here, Mr Vernon can only use the character that Mr Vernon has created."

"In addition to being stronger and having the appropriate items, Mr Vernon also has to do some things to summon them, namely tasks from the system. But Mr Vernon can rest easy; on this first summoning, Mr Vernon does not need the items to perform the task. This is a bonus from the system."

Hearing the system's words, Vernon became serious and recalled what he had done in the game. But Vernon was confident he hadn't mistreated the characters he summoned in the game.

The Open Universe is a newly formed world accidentally connected to Lord Vernon's world through the game due to the great dimensional storm two years ago."

All the people you create in the game are real living beings. It doesn't even have a top-up system like other games because a company didn't create it."

"I was formed because of the bond between Mr Vernon and the person you summoned in the previous world. I know Mr Vernon is afraid to think that I may be a system created by someone to control you. But I will tell Mr Vernon now that I am just a system formed from your determination to continue playing in the Open Universe game tirelessly. I can only act upon Mr Vernon's approval."

"If Mr Vernon fails to perform the duties of the system, then there is no penalty for failure; after all, you are my Master, so how can I harm Mr Vernon."

Hearing the system's words, Vernon smiled slightly and said, "Then I can relax a little."
