Alec and the rest of the gang were taken aback when they encountered a man in a blue robe blocking their path.

It would seemed as though he knew they would eventually pass by that spot.

Although Alec couldn't help but feel suspicious about the man's motives, the fact that he wore the instructor badge of the academy made him consider two possibilities.

Either the man had ulterior motives and was taking advantage of the instructor's absence, or he had simply arrived unannounced and was unaware of the instructor's absence.

The latter seemed highly unlikely to Alec, as he distinctly remembered his instructor mentioning that he had no friends who were Great Instructor's, so there was absolutely no reason why he should be visited by one now that he is out of the academy.

Yet there stood the man in front of them, proudly displaying his status with The great instructor badge on his chest.

The Mage blocking their way happened to be the lightning Mage who had previously informed their master
