Resignation From Work

After George finished speaking, he looked Arthur up and down again and asked. "Why are you even in slippers?"

After George asked that, everyone noticed that Arthur was wearing a pair of Gucci slippers.

George was already angry because of how Arthur left the office without permission yesterday, and now that Arthur seemed to be in trouble, Williams interjected on behalf of Arthur. "Boss, you know Arthur is not like that."

At this moment, a sarcastic voice suddenly came from the corner of the office. "Well, if he acted the way he did, wasn't he asking for trouble? If he hadn't left during working hours yesterday, why would Mr. Maddison have to trouble him?"

"Nobody asked you, Michelle." Williams's voice became much harsher. He still had some prestige in the department as a senior supervisor.

Michelle curled her lips and stopped talking. She took out a mirror and started to touch up her makeup for the ninth time.

"I'm fine, Will. Thanks." Arthur patted Williams's shoulder with a relaxed smile on his face.

Michelle was also considered a beauty in the office. She once liked Arthur, but Arthur didn't like her. After being rejected, Michelle quickly hooked up with a junior leader in the office as a backup and often made sarcastic remarks to Arthur.

As soon as he saw Michelle was angry, Jillian immediately rushed to Michelle and offered his courtesy: "Hey Michelle, don't worry about them. How about we go to the sea later?"

Thinking about the new car that Jillian just bought at such a young age, and that the troublesome Arthur, a poor boy, was about to be fired, Michelle finally breathed a sigh of relief and accepted Jillian's invitation with dignity.

The farce in the corner of the office did not affect Arthur at all. He turned on his computer, printed out a resignation form, and then walked into George's office with the resignation form.

When he walked into the office, George's female secretary was sitting on his lap. Seeing an employee coming, she quickly straightened her body and stood behind George to give him a back massage.

"Arthur, to be honest, your ability is increasingly unable to keep up with the company's requirements, and you still had the guts to leave work without permission..." George sighed and looked at Arthur who was standing in front of him. "I should have fired you, but you are a long-time employee after all. So, your salary this month will be cut in half, and you will have to work two more hours overtime every day for a month."

Just when George raised his head arrogantly, thinking that Arthur would burst into tears and regret his past mistakes, a piece of paper was slammed in front of him.

"Since you won't fire me, I'll resign myself!" Arthur put his resignation application in front of George and said with a half-smile, "Boss, you won't be reluctant to part with a useless employee like me, will you?"

George never thought that Arthur would have the courage to resign. The flaps on his face began to tremble with shock, and his lips opened and closed tremblingly for a long time, but he didn't utter a word.

Arthur was actually a hardworking and diligent employee who was willing to work hard. George wanted to exploit him for a few more years.

Seeing that George hadn't said anything, Arthur took it as his acquiescence: "I'm going to pack my stuff now, but remember to pay me the rest of my salary."

Even a hundred dollars was still money.

Seeing Arthur striding out of the office and starting to pack his luggage, employees throughout the company gave him sidelong glances.

"Arthur, were you fired?" Williams asked cautiously.

"No." Arthur's smile was still bright and cheerful, but his words were shocking, "I took the initiative to resign."

"What..." Williams looked at Arthur in disbelief.

Michelle's eyes lit up and she started to sneer. "Some people just don't know the limit of their worth."

Arthur looked at Michelle and smiled. "I'd better stay away from people like you."

Normally, Arthur didn't bother to pay attention to Michelle, but now as soon as he opened his mouth, Michelle was furious.

Jillian saw that this troublesome lady was outmaneuvered by Arthur, so he stepped forward and said, "Arthur, you have a lot of stuff, do you want me to drop you off at the bus station?"

"No need." Arthur shook his head, "I also brought my car."

When everyone heard that Arthur had bought a car, they became curious. After all, Arthur was a poor boy from the countryside, and the whole office knew it. Where did he get the money to buy a car?

Jillian's eyes lit up, and he quickly said modestly. "Really? Is it a high cost performance car, Arthur?"

"Why don't you take us out for a ride?" Jillian looked expectant, but his eyes were actually full of disdain.

Facing Jillian's flattery, Arthur smiled and said. "My car is a two-seater, so it can only accommodate me and my luggage."

"Two people?" A female colleague giggled. "Isn't that a motorcycle?"

"Motorcycles are pretty expensive nowadays," A colleague followed up with a wink, "Maybe it's an electric car."

“I think it’s a second-hand bicycle.”

Listening to his colleagues' ridicule, Jillian's eyes became even more contemptuous. He walked up to Arthur and said. "Arthur, why don't you take us to see your car?"

"Leave him alone, Jillian." Williams couldn't stand it any longer. He helped Arthur pick up a box and wanted to send him downstairs. "Arthur, don't worry about them. Let me see you off."

Arthur and Williams went downstairs first, and Jillian, Michelle and a group of colleagues who came to watch the fun followed them to the parking lot.

But as soon as they arrived at the parking lot, they saw a group of people queuing up to take pictures in front of a luxury car.

"It's my turn, everyone move aside!"

"Be careful not to scratch the car. If you damage the paint, you won't be able to pay for it even if you lose everything you own!"

"Wow, that's a nice car." Even Michelle couldn't help but exclaim when seeing the beautiful Pagani Zonda.

Jillian, who was standing behind Michelle, took two awkward steps forward. He originally thought that his Toyota would definitely attract the attention of all his colleagues, but now his Toyota parked next to the Pagani supercar, like the moon next to the sun. It had become redundant. He rolled his eyes asked Arthur. "Arthur, where is your car? Could it be this supercar?"

Hearing his words, his colleagues burst into laughter.

Arthur took Williams closer to the Pagani sports car with a normal expression.

"Young man, go line up in the back. Don't think you can cut in line just because you're handsome. It's first come first served!"

Looking at the group of men and women in front of him who were taking photos enthusiastically, Arthur sighed helplessly.

"Although I don't want to disturb you all, but..." Arthur pressed the Pagani's key and the lights suddenly came on. "I need to get to my car."
