Chapter 5

Using the black robes, Caroline and I snuck into the city; demons mostly guarded every corner of the town, and some humans seemed to be on their side.

In the quiet alley, I saw three people about to sleep with a woman; I quickly moved behind one of them and stabbed her skull through her eyes. The two remaining people looked surprised even though Caroline broke their necks after that followed her partner.

Caroline helped to tidy up the woman's clothes. "Thank you."

"Go, and keep it a secret if you meet us."

"I understand."

I only saw the woman's departure from behind the mask that covered my face.

"Are you okay, Zack? Your hands are shaking?" asked Caroline.

"This is my first time killing a human."

"From now on, get used to this; if you let them live someday, someone else innocent will be the victim... let's go."

Following the direction of Olivia, who was still in her sword form, we entered the palace; just as we met several demons on guard, I slashed at them until their pieces fell on the floor.

Our destination is a dungeon where one of Olivia's powers is sealed, and if I can use it, I will find it easier to use water magic. I can also use that magic, especially as healing magic. Apart from getting permission from the Goddess herself, no one will be able to use it; therefore, only I can take it.

We descended the stairs until a magnificent altar welcomed us inside. We filled small pools around it with glowing water while the orb that sealed Olivia's power was placed in the centre.

Since the demon side has taken over the capital, no one is guarding this place, so I can easily touch the ball. A sky-blue stream of mana moved into my body simultaneously, and the memory of Olivia's battle also entered my mind.

"How about it, Zack?" asked Caroline.

"Looks like I can use the magic."

"Of course, with this one of my powers, you'd better try it by defeating all the demons in this city, some humans you must also fight."

I thought about it for a moment. I guess that's what we have to do if we want to save this city, we climb back up and finish off the demons we meet, a little rash, but I don't feel like it's a hassle.

As I swung the blade of my sword, I created water at the tip of my sword, which could drag all the guards away. Moreover, when I stuck it on the floor, water was made and submerged the city in an ocean.

"Water Magic... Tsunami Wave." Caroline used her umbrella to stay in the air.

"That's great, so this is the power of the evil Goddess."

"Of course, I am a person feared by all living beings. Praise as much as you want." Olivia's tone was still annoying.

I raised my hand to create projectile-like water droplets, which rained down on all the demons. Two demons ambushed me from behind using their wings; I swung my sword in one breath and then put it in its sheath.

Their bodies spurted blood before finally falling. This power is extreme.

"I didn't think that after all this time, a strong person also appeared, whatever... with this, I might be able to be more excited to fight. What is clear is that this great Thomas will kill you, kid."

"A top-tier demon? Do I need help too?"

"No, leave everything to Zack. This is his test."

"Okay."

Caroline slid up the building and sat down while crossing her legs. I hope this fight can be over soon.

Thomas raised his eyebrows as if glancing down at me. "Your face must be so ugly you covered it with a mask."

"Unfortunately, your assumption is wrong because my face is very handsome, which will make women continue to approach me, and it's quite disturbing."

"Arrogant humans like you disgust me."

"But not as arrogant as your demons." Thomas burst out laughing before replying to me.

"The devil's nature is arrogant and will not change until the end of the world," he said as he drew the sword from his waist.

I stepped forward with a slight jump on top of him, my sword swing held back by his blade, creating sparks in the air. He pushed me back and then sent a counterattack which I held back as fast as possible.

"Is the Demon Lord of the North here?"

"Fool, your highness wouldn't be in a bad place like this." He kicked my body until it hit the wall of the building.

"Fire Magic, Fireball." From the hand aimed at me, Thomas creates a giant fireball; I strive my hand to hold it.

"Water Magic, Wall of Water."

"Although it looks like your fighting style is bad, you have strong magic, brat."

I ignored his words to create another magic. "Magic Tree...Explore."

A plant burst into Thomas's body from my hand, violently pushing him through several buildings at high speed. The flames wrapped the view of the city until Thomas's figure came out of it with his whole-body emitting smoke. I followed his gaze.

"How can you use the same magic as that evil Goddess?"

"Who knows."

I touched the floor below me; in an instant, the roots sprouted from there and shaped him into the shape of a tree monster. "Attack him."

The five monsters ran in unison, taking turns to attack Thomas; they trampled him and then beat him non-stop.

"I haven't seen a scene like this in a long time; in the past, I made this monster to destroy a country," Olivia said in a nostalgic voice.

"You are evil."

"Noisy, I'm terrible trouble for you? Since I'm so loving, I no longer have that desire."

"Could it be that you have become a mother and accidentally had an affair with a man?"

"Where did that terrible imagination come from? I couldn't possibly be interested in such a thing."

"Usually, women will be affectionate when they have a baby."

"You make me mad, and I'm still a girl."

While talking to each other, the tree monsters suddenly crushed my demons; their bodies shattered and fell into dust debris in the wind.

"What the hell is all this? Your strength isn't normal?"

"I'm just a lowly adventurer."

"No kidding."

I immediately cut. "Do you know a demon who resides in ***** City?"

"You mean?"

"I killed him, that vampire."

"Damn you, no wonder I can't feel the magic energy." Thomas coated fire onto his sword before shooting forward.

"You idiot, kill him, Zack."

I swung my sword at the same time as Thomas's, and blood spurted from my body and my enemies; while I was standing, Thomas fell.

"Impossible, a human can beat me."

"Don't worry, you won't die alone; I will kill all the demons after this."

"You monster... cunt."

The sheath I dropped flew back into my hand, and I put the sword in. The blood flowing from my body immediately recovered with my water magic. At the same time, Caroline descended from the sky with her umbrella.

"Zack, you did it."

"Um... I guess he's just a low-class devil."

"Huh? But he's pretty awesome too, so what will we do now?"

"I thought the royal family was locked up in the palace; let's save them first."

"Is that so, Zack wants to make this kingdom indebted to you, and you're going to demand a huge amount of money for this."

"Well, I'm not as evil as Goddess Olivia."

"Why are you bringing me up? You want to feel my punch... I can put you in boiling water and turn you into soup or force you to eat vegetables."

That's how evil this Goddess is; moreover, she hates certain vegetables, just like Caroline.
