Claire Ildefonso stood in the middle of an open field. Wielding her new weapon in her hand, she was given the assignment to eliminate a group of salamanders. These are the same type as the creatures they fought not long ago. Monsters that have an unbelievably high amount of armor, owing to the fact that they have scales which can almost negate any physical damage. As well as lessen the damage that comes from elemental spells.Of course, the greater the monster on this category is, the sturdier the scales would be. And when comparing the giant lizards and the salamanders, the giant lizards have a slightly harder scale compared to the regular salamanders. That is why these are the targets chosen for Claire and, the saintess understands this too of course.Claire has her eyes set on her targets already. The salamanders are scattered around the area of the trees outside the open field. Meanwhile, she’s there openly exposing herself to her enemies. As for Asther, he’s simply spectating fro
Claire isn’t able to finish the battle unscathed. Due to the fighting style that she needed to use to entertain her spear, she sustained a couple of hits by the projectiles emitted by the regular salamanders. One of these reached her arm. Thankfully, it wasn’t her spear wielding arm that was hit. Of course both hands are used to wield the weapon. But it wasn’t the primary wielding one which was damaged. At the same time, since the arm that was hit is only used to support the primary one, she is still able to use her weapon with some minor setbacks only. Then there’s her left leg. This sustained two hits during the whole interval of the fight. As such, it greatly impaired the movements that Claire could make. In fact, there were a lot of moments within the fight when Claire would suddenly stop for a split second due to the pain that she felt from her leg.Thankfully enough, she only sustained these injuries when the fight was nearing its end already. That is why there wasn’t much of a
“That’s one hell of a performance you pulled right there.” Asther said, finally approaching Claire. While watching, it didn’t come as a surprise to Asther that the weapon didn’t cut through the salamanders in one go. After all, he figured that the weapon might actually attempt to test the saintess out. And from how the fight went, he knew that he’s right. This is the only explanation as to why the weapon didn’t cut through the salamanders like butter after all.“You really watched until the end huh?” Claire said with a bit of amusement.“Of course.” Asther said. “I am a man of my words after all.”Asther threw a health potion at Claire. The saintess caught this easily with her hand. She already knows what this is as well. With how long she’s been fighting alongside the necromancer inside that dungeon, there has been multiple instances where she needed to use one of these. Courtesy of Asther of course. At first, this potion seemed suspicious to her. She didn’t even want to chug it down
The next one on Asther’s list is Tyre. He didn’t actually want to go with the Thief next. For what it’s worth, Asther actually intended to go with Octavia as the next one he’d test out. However, the knightess is somehow a special case. Making her someone that Asther should save for last. And the reason for this would be revealed as soon as she’s given her new weapons.Hence, Asther Shadow Dived back to their base. He immediately picked out Tyre who already has a rough idea of what’s going to happen. Asther did brief all of them about the new weapons during breakfast after all. Thus the thief eagerly followed Asther to where they needed to go. Namely, the same part of the forest where Asther went to talk with Claire about her weapon. At that very same moment, the saintess is already beginning her additional training on the use of her new weapon. Moving to a new nest of monsters within that forest.“Tyre.” Asther began.“Yes sir.” The thief answered.“These will be your partners from no
“Hey scaredy cat.”“Stop calling me that.” Tyre told his weapon which was speaking to him telepathically as well.It felt weird to Tyre when this first happened, although frightening is a better word to describe the experience. But it’s not like he’s gotten used to it already. As far as the thief is concerned, the experience is still something that feels off to him.“Why should I? It’s true isn’t it? You got scared as soon as you got me.”Unlike Claire, Tyre isn’t up to a good start with his ego weapon. The main factor that contributed to this is the fact that he basically threw it away as soon as he got his hands on it. Making him look weak to the eyes of the very same weapon which he needs to dominate. As a result, he already as a bit of a disadvantage on this area.“That’s only because weapons like you don’t have a good reputation. You know that right?”“I’ve got no clue what you’re talking about. I was just born last night so how should I have any idea on what you’re saying?”“If
Tyre ran out of hiding. This is the first thing that the thief decided to do for that fight. As soon as he did, the eyes of the dark goblins all went to him. Without even any surprise being drawn on each of their faces. But Tyre couldn’t see this anymore, nor did he have time to look at it either as, they all suddenly vanished. They are used to this kind of thing after all. They are used to getting attacked while they are busy doing their day to day activities. There is no need for these goblins to hunt for their prey, the prey themselves go to their nest. Meaning also one thing…that the same nest that Tyre is attacking is filled with traps – activating one of these right away.Arrows came flying towards the thief’s direction. This is just the beginning however. Each of the dark goblin is already making their move to kill the uninvited guest inside their nest. However, none of this would work as easily as they thought.Tyre dodged the arrows by ducking down. These accidentally hit one
Tyre felt a surge of pain course through his body as soon as the fight ended. His whole body is hot from the whole ordeal. As if he just came out of a steaming hot magma. That is how he felt at that moment.Weirdly enough, this same sensation is able to mitigate the amount of pain that he felt. It isn’t as strong as he thought it would be. It’s on a manageable level which, made it even more weird. He has a lot of wounds from the fight after all. Most of these coming from the traps that he couldn’t avoid while some came directly from the dark goblins themselves.Nevertheless, Tyre is still able to win the fight. He singlehandedly defeated a whole nest of monsters. This hasn’t even completely registered in his head yet. Nor is he given a chance to do so as, with the fight ending, he is finally able to hear his weapon properly once again.“Hey! Are you listening to me?”“You’re really loud you know that.”“You little…you acted like I didn’t even exist during that whole fight.” The ego we
Asther thought back on the fight that just went with Tyre. There were a lot of things that happened and, so far, all of it far exceeded his expectations. Right from the moment when Tyre began to dodge the traps set by the dark goblins, Asther was already amused. He was amused by the fact that Tyre is actually capable of performing such a move.It was almost like he was watching a young assassin in training while looking at Tyre. This sent a wave of nostalgia back to him which felt weird. There isn’t anything about his past that could bring him good memories. Yet there he was, finding himself almost smiling.Asther understood everything that Tyre did. Even without the thief discussing his plans to the necromancer, Asther is still able to easily read this. After all, he has been doing this all of his life. A necessary tool for survival in the underworld back on earth.Another thing that surprised Asther is the fact that Tyre is already the master of his ego daggers. This is such a big d
