“Are you sure that it’s okay for you to ride there sir Asther?” Claire asked the assassin who, decided to sit on top of the carriage.“It’s fine. This way I can have a better view of the surroundings. It’ll also be easier for me to kill anyone who attempts an ambush.”“It’d also be easier for you to give a signal to the bandits.”“Octavia.” Claire reprimanded, making her knight scratch the back of her head.“Fine.” Was all that Octavia said as she entered the carriage.“We’ll stop moving once it begins to get dark. You don’t have to worry about doing anything. My men will prepare a suitable sleeping space for you.” Claire added.“I appreciate the offer but, like I said, I already have my own things prepared.” Asther touched his bag with his left hand. It’s a good thing that Asther’s own camping spot isn’t far from where Claire and her guards were. This made it easier for Asther to get his things, all while the carriage was being fixed by the male soldiers.“Please, this is the least t
As Claire mentioned, the group only stooped once the sun was about to set. They chose to camp near the river. This is done upon Asther’s request. Something which Octavia didn’t like herself but, could do nothing about it since Claire willingly heeded to Asther’s request. As such the group rested there. The two male soldiers began to set up tents where they’d sleep in while Octavia began preparing food. Meanwhile, Asther is left with nothing to do. After all, he is specifically instructed by Claire to lay back and relax since this isn’t part of the contract he has been hired for.Asther took this offer willingly of course. Without getting distracted by these things, Asther can focus more on surveillance around the perimeter. But, even before he began this, he decided to use some of his time to gather some hints on the bonuses of his missions. Things which he asked Claire herself.“The bandits?” Claire repeated the words sounding puzzled about the question raised.“Yes. Do you know of a
“Boss!” Dylan screamed as soon as he reached the bandit hideout.Never has he been as excited in coming back there as he is at that moment. And why wouldn’t he? When he has just escaped certain death from a foe whose powers does not seem human. His heart still thumped loudly and, the bandits left in the hideout looked at him funny. Especially his boss. But Dylan doesn’t care. All he cares about is that he is finally safe. There would be punishment for him of course. But whatever this may be, as long as it isn’t death, the archer knows that he can take it. Being beaten up, cut, or not given food for a whole day. Dylan can take any of these. But before his sentence could be given, he first needs to deal with explaining everything to his boss. A man who began to walk towards him.Agathos. This is the alias used by the boss of the group of bandits since he has taken over the gang. Nobody knows what his real name is and, nobody dared dig into what this is. They’ve learned quickly after the
An inch, that is the space left before his dagger could reach Dylan’s throat. He immediately changed the course of his weapon. Throwing it outside the base as he dropped the unconscious bandit to the ground. The bandits didn’t understand what was happening. That’s why they looked towards the direction where the dagger went and, this finally cleared things up. All because of a teenager who emerged from the darkness, holding Agathos’ dagger in his hand.“To think that you’d notice my presence, I must say you’re quite impressive.”“You let Dylan escape and tailed him until he got here. I would say you’re smart but, showing your face to me? I think your idiocy is at an equal level.”“It’s only be idiotic if I end up dying.”“I guess that’s right.” Agathos leapt from where he stood. Just like that, he closed the distance between him and the intruder. His other dagger already in his hand and in striking motion. The teen dodged this attack easily which surprised Agathos. What surprised him e
Asther wiped out all of the bandits in the hideout. Right after he made an example out of Agathos, he quickly took down the others that were there. Even the ones who were running away aren’t able to escape Asther’s undead. After ten more minutes, everyone is dead except for Asther. He stood there all by himself, welcomed by the silence that he is very familiar with. The same silence that comes after the chaos of brutal killing and murder.Asther looked around and, he saw the items that have been dropped. He’s going to sort through this later because, there is something of a higher priority for him at that moment. Namely, getting Agathos’ soul.“System, what are my chances of turning a human into an undead?”[That depends on the gap between your ranks master. The wider the gap, the more difficult it would be for you to turn them into an undead.]“But it’s possible right?”[Yes master. Any living things besides plants, as long as they had a corporeal body, these can be turned into undea
Asther continued to go through the area. There is still something that he needs from this place. Something connected to his mission. Specifically, the intel on who it is that hired the bandits.“Now…if it were me, where will I put useful information like that.”Asther was just about to make another step when shadows suddenly formed on his foot. At least that is what it seemed at first. This is actually his own dark mana and, the particles of this quickly crept up his body. Reaching his head and, soon enough a new effect began to take place.Asther’s eyes glowed with a bright red tone. Aside from this visual appearance change, Asther also felt something happening to his mind. He could see memories. Not his own but that of Agathos. This made his head throb and sent another wave of pain that surged across Asther’s body. The teen was almost reduced to curling to the ground if not for the fact that he’s already familiar with the pain that he was experiencing. It’s almost the same as the on
Asther came back to the camp of his allies. With him are two of his undead wolves, carrying on their back the loot that the teen was able to take from the base of the bandits.Him running off to track the bandit that ran away was also part of the plan. That’s why nobody was worried about his sudden disappearance. However, Octavia in particular found it a bit odd that this teen could vanish without a trace. Almost as if his occupation is an assassin and not a necromancer.Asther could read the doubting on Octavia’s eyes at that moment. But he didn’t care about this. For all the teen cared, Octavia can keep on doubting him. Meanwhile, he’d just continue producing results. The same one that he showed as he finally stood in front of Claire.“How did it go?” The female noble asked.“Splendidly. I got a lot of things from their base.”“You stole from the bandits?” Octavia asked.“Why does that sound surprising? Everything they own is basically taken through underhanded and deceitful means s
“How many times do I have to say it?” Asther used a stick and placed it under Octavia’s sword wielding wrist. “You need to raise your hand a bit higher.”“What difference does that even make?” Octavia replied in annoyance.“For starters, it blocks out a lot of openings.” Asther replied. At the moment, Asther is giving private fighting lessons to Octavia. Although the female knight wanted to decline this, the order came straight from Claire and so, it isn’t something that the female knight could go against.Asther isn’t a big fan of it as well. For what it’s worth, he would rather have the two male soldiers to be trained under his wing. Not because they have more talent than Octavia but, because he knows that they would follow his commands and instructions; no questions asked.“I’ll reduce the number of openings just from raising my hand a bit higher?” Octavia asked in a doubtful tone.“Form is important in any fight.” Asther said. “It increases your chances of surviving.”This is a le
[Notice: The quest, Defeat the Forest Guardians have been updated.][Forest Guardians defeated: 2/3]“Well, that’s a surprise.”Asther read this message as soon as he finished clearing up two more monster camps. The necromancer used the same combination that he did earlier on. He used the domain of the high ogre bloodbornes in order for his operation to go unnoticed and, as for the source of damage, Asther made use of something else this time around. He made use of his Direwolves and made these fight against the monsters over and over again. The necromancer did this in order to put a little test into practice. Surely enough, it yielded him positive results. But before we move on to this part of the story, let us first focus on the necromancer’s reaction to the news about his allies.Asther knew that this would happen sooner or later. After all, these are individuals that he trained himself. Apart from this, they are also partially blessed with the system. With the party function apply
The wyvern screamed from the amount of pain it experienced from the attack. This much is acceptable because, after all, it has finally been wounded. The wyvern probably never had any damage all of its life due to its thick scales. But there it is now, finally receiving the first bit of damage after a long time. And it isn’t even a slight scratch at that. The attack that hit it, dug deep into its flesh. Opening up a wound and leaving a burning sensation that drove the creature crazy. It began to flail its body around. The wyvern thrashed the pillars with the wild sweeping of its tail. This is accompanied by the swinging of its arms. Destroying almost the same number of pillars that its tail is capable of.This would’ve been the perfect opportunity to follow up the attack. If not for the fact that the frenzied state of the monster isn’t something that they can easily get close to. Nor would Claire and her allies chose to do so because of how dangerous it all looked. Since the monster is
Blood red wings that seem to burn under the sunlight. Gleaming yellow eyes which pierced through everything it gazes upon. Crystal like claws that are sharp enough to make anyone uncomfortable just from looking at them. Scales that seem sturdier than any outward armor that a golem could ever fathom. A tail long and whip like. With flames coming out of it.This is the full form of the wyvern that Claire’s team needs to face. Fortunately for them, they didn’t die from the attack that the creature made. This is because the saintess shielded them from the blow. Claire made use of her powers. Creating a barrier that can only be mustered by someone as her. A person that has been chosen by one of the deities. She used all of the mana of light that she can borrow from her generous benefactress, creating a type of barrier that can negate a certain amount of damage.Thankfully, it is strong enough to block the entirety of the blow. Breaking just as soon as the breath of flames ended and, leavin
The fight is finally reaching the part where Claire is intending it to reach. The final part. The climax, if it can even be called that. With less than forty enemies needing to be defeated, Claire’s team is now in a position where they can continue the fight with less tension. Of course they still need to focus on taking down all of their enemies but, since there are now less than when they started off with, it removes a lot of the problems that they initially had as well. These including the continuous use of earthquake to change the terrain in their favor. This also includes the fact that they needed to put out flames and magma which, will now be greatly reduced as well. With all of this being said, there is one more problem that can rise for the group. Actually, this is the only real problem and threat for the group. The guardian of the forest and the leader of this group of monsters. The Blood Basilisk. The group doesn’t know that this is the type of basilisk that they need to fac
The fight continued to move in the favor of Claire and her allies. There is nothing that their opponents could do about them anymore. Everything continued moving in the direction that Claire intended it to. Almost as if she has full control of everything that is happening at that moment. But aside from this, there’s also the fact that she’s doing her best in raising her awareness of the whole surroundings. Her level isn’t as good as Asther’s of course. She can never match the level of the necromancer. Nevertheless, she is still on a level which is acceptable. On a level where it can be said that they will not easily lose to the likes of the basilisks that they are facing.“What else do we need to do your highness?” The two soldiers asked as soon as they are finished with their task.“We need to reduce the number of basilisks as quickly as we can. Otherwise, we’d probably go through the same thing again.”As she said this, Claire watched Octavia hold back a total of twenty basilisks al
Just like the camp of the Direwolves, there are at least a hundred rampaging basilisk that are within the nest of the guardian. This much can be expected because it is the nest of the guardian after all. But even if this is so, there is not much difficulty on the part of Claire and her allies. Making them all feel that this is somehow unreal.Sure they don’t have the assistance of Asther’s undead anymore. This allows the basilisks to attack them more freely and adding to the number of the creatures that can come at them. However, the pillars that Parch created, as well as the disfigurement of the ground are enough to make the basilisks have a hard time attacking them.Unlike these monsters, the group isn’t that bothered with the terrain shifting in this manner. By this time they are already used to the tremors created by parch. And while the other thing that it creates is something that is relatively new to the group as well, the fact still remains that they are prepared for it. That
“Hey slowpokes hurry up!”Tyre commented as soon as he killed the first monster. He hasn’t done this before because it is always either Claire or Octavia that makes the first kill. That is why he feels proud of himself for being able to do this. Yet, this pride of his didn’t last long because of the events that happened next.Right as the first basilisk fell, the shadow of a person could be seen on the ground, coming from up high. Some of the basilisks looked towards this direction and saw Octavia. The female knight has already charged her claymore with dark mana. And without a moment of hesitation, she fired this at the basilisks.Five of the creatures are unfortunate enough to make contact with the spell. This isn’t able to kill them because of the same thing that Tyre had trouble with. They have armor that is thicker than normal. Nevertheless, the same attack is able to create an opening on their backs.Octavia isn’t able to make her secondary attack right away since the other basi
[Rampaging Basilisk]This is the class of the monster that Claire and her allies needs to face. They do not have any sort of system analysis which they can use to see the full details of the monsters but, it’s not like they need to. Yes this would help in making the fight more advantageous for them but, as it is, the fight is already going in their favor.Even without seeing what the basilisks are fully capable of, Claire knows the general capabilities of basilisks already. The same is true with her allies. And although there are added features to basilisk that aren’t part of the regular version, this difference would only cause a bit of problem at best. After all, Claire and her allies have their ego weapons which they can use. Weapons that would allow them to win easier in that fight because of the overwhelming strength contained on every weapon.“So, you think we should start the fight already?” Octavia asked. The group is positioned behind a bush. Unlike the other areas of fights
While Asther advanced with his plans on the canyon, his allies also did the same. Claire and the others have wiped out another monster nest during the time that Asther has been away from them. They can only cover this much because, only a day has passed since Asther left. Plus, there is also the fact that Claire is still trying to internalize everything that the necromancer told her. About him being chosen by the god of war who, is a benefactor of the demon lord. And how Asther has been given a mission to kill the same creature disguising himself as the hero.Yet this alone is not enough to make Claire forget her duties to the group. She is still able to lead proficiently. There are a couple of mistakes and errors along the way of course. However, this is not enough to make Claire forget about her duties and responsibilities. Allowing the said mistakes to only be minimal.Right after the hunt, the group went back to camp by foot. This allowed Claire to have time to think. To erase tho
