Admittedly, Octavia has never faced Asther in a sparring match before. All she has ever done is witness how he fought. And this is even limited to the moment when he rescued them from the bandits.

This swift and effective display taught Octavia one thing; that Asther knows what he's doing. He held the blade like nobody that Octavia knows of. Asther has more talent in it than herself and, he can probably even rival the best students in the Academy. This is the estimation that she made.
