“My passive is called Cleave.” Parch said.“That’s a pretty bland joke don’t you think?” Asther said.“No sir. It’s true. My passive is called Cleave.”“You’re a Cleaver and your passive is Cleave? Who thought of these names?” Asther sighed. “Anyway, what does the passive do.“The passive allows me to land a guaranteed critical strike when I make my fifth attack.”“Wait, isn’t that actually a really good skill?” Asther asked.“It’s supposed to be sir.”“Supposed to be? What do you mean?”“Well, the skill allows this passive to activate, only when I’ve met the requirement through the use of a heavy weapon.” Parch said.“Dear lord.” Asther realized the meaning behind these words right away.Parch is a soldier. A swordsman at that. This means that his weapon is a regular broadsword, the same as any other soldier of this category. This also means one thing…that his passive has never activated. Not even once.“My weapon prevents me from getting the passive to proc.” Parch said, confirming
“Alright, do you think you can do better this time around?” Asther asked.“Yeah, I think I’m getting the hang of it.” Tyre replied. There is an obvious look of nervousness on Tyre’s face. He has tried defeating the hobgoblin thrice now but, has never found success in this endeavor. Every time he did this, he is just a bit short from getting what he wants. There’s this gap that he can’t put his finger on.Of course, Asther already knows what this is. But he doesn’t want to tell the soldier. He wants Tyre to learn from experience. Because unlike Octavia and Claire who both has a good battle sense and quick uptake, the soldiers don’t share this same thing. That’s why Asther wants to teach them through the same training.Hence, Asther isn’t only guiding Tyre. He’s guiding parch as well. He doesn’t observe them both at the same time. Rather, Asther is changing from one point of focus to another. He’d focus on Parch for one match against the hobgoblin and, as soon as this finishes, he will
Tyre still couldn’t believe what just happened. He did it. He’s able to defeat Asther’s undead hobgoblin through the use of his real job class. There was a kind of high that the adrenaline put him on. But as soon as this finished, he felt the effects of having to move his body in that manner. His legs which were evidently shocked from the ordeal finally gave in. Making him slump to the ground. He then felt himself being a bit short of breath. It’s not anything to be concerned about but, he was a bit surprised that he didn’t feel this while fighting. There wasn’t any kind of exhaustion, just the thrill of waiting for the chance to strike. And the pumping of this emotion that is brought when the said objective is finally at hand.Asther clapped at this soldier. The effort is worth it after all. The sound that the necromancer created, made Tyre look at his direction. And upon realizing that it is Asther that the soldier is looking at, he began speaking.“Did you see that sir?” He asked.
“How’s the weapon wielding doing?”Parch stretched his body a couple of times while waiting for Asther. The soldier is holding a greatsword that’s almost the same height as him. This same weapon is also four times as broad compared to a broadsword. That’s why the weapon would be a lot more difficult to get the hang of. That is, for someone who doesn’t fit the criteria for wielding it.Unlike Tyre who needed to defeat the hobgoblin first before attaining a new passive, Parch gained one as soon as he held on to his weapon. This might seem like an unfair treatment but, this much is necessary for someone like him who wields a large weapon. Especially because of the passive that he gained.[Skill Name: Unbalanced Strength][Skill Type: Passive][Information: When wielding a heavy weapon, the owner of the skill will be granted +10 points in strength.]It’s a basic skill which doesn’t seem to be much. But in actuality, this passive has allowed Parch to attack at the same speed as before, eve
“We’re gonna fight?” The two soldiers said in a shocked tone. This is the part of the training that came after defeating the undead. In actuality, Asther had different plans for them. But because of the system, he needed to stick with this option. With the two soldiers getting comfortable with their weapon of choice, the system has recognized their improvement. It allowed them to clear the first part of their progressing quests and, because of this, a new quest opened up for them. In fact, the same quest appeared for both soldiers.[Quest Name: Brothers at Arms][Quest Type: Progressing][Information: The soldiers Tyre and Parch have developed a deeper bond as comrades. With them both being able to wield the real weapon that goes with their job class, this comradeship has turned into something of a rivalry between the two.][Quest Requirement: Make the soldiers spar against one another][Reward for the Winner: Increase in main status connected to the job class. +10 status points.][Re
The soldiers began their sparring match right away. Both Tyre and Parch held their weapons in earnest and fought with the same level of diligence, as well as pride in the weapons that their bodies have longed for since they got their job class.Asther watched everything from the sidelines. He observed and monitored all their movements closely. Just because they have a set of missions that could easily strengthen them, it doesn’t mean that Asther can just take it easy when it comes to monitoring the soldiers.Everyone in his care is doing their best to get stronger. Even without knowing the progressing quests, they all work their hardest to be of use to Claire. In fact, even this woman has been diligently working for the past couple of days. That’s why Asther needs to be the same.He isn’t some kind of lowlife who would just bet everything on what the progressing quests could provide. Asther is doing his best as their mentor. And for that sparring session, it means observing everything
Familiarity with the spear. This term is foreign to Asther just like a lot of the other concepts that comes with the system. Thankfully, as long as something is part of the system, this same feature can explain the said concepts.Basically, what familiarity with the spear means is that, it will instantly add to Claire’s understanding of how to wield the weapon. She doesn’t need to read or train anymore. Both of these will be applied to her brain in the snap of a finger. Making her a proper warrior. However, the ten points that would be added is only minimal. The master of any weapon basically requires a thousand points to reach the level of a true veteran. That’s why ten points isn’t that much. But at the same time, it isn’t a nonexistent boost as well. This is a cheat in itself which skips the amount of time needed to train in wielding the spear. Combining this with the fact that they are training within a dungeon and, Asther knows that Claire will be able to come out of the place as
