Waking Up

Darkness. Asther doesn’t like sleeping that much. In fact, he wants to avoid this as much as possible. And that’s because of the things that it shows him. Or rather, what it fails to show him.

Within his dreams, Asther sees nothing but darkness. Whereas other people dream of lives that are far from reality. Where kings and castles and mystical creatures even exist, Asther himself has never experienced anything else other than the darkness.

And that moment is no different. Asther has nothing but the pitch black emptiness that he has never gotten used to. A void that can never be filled by anything. And just like any other time, he only realizes that he is out of this “dream” when light begins to penetrate.

“Hey guys, I think he’s finally awake.” These are the first words that Asther heard. Words that came from a familiar tone. That of Octavia.

“What…”

“Whoa slow down. You shouldn’t talk just yet.” Octavia said. “Wait a moment, I’m just gonna get a towel.”
