Clang!
A giant silver battle axe collided with a large rusted sword, neither of them being pushed back by the slightest."Hmph!" The burly man wielding the battle axe jumped backwards before he snorted in displeasure as looked at the ugly orc facing him."I gave you a chance but since you are so stubborn then don't blame me, Mountain Fall!" He cried out and jumped high in the air.The blades of his giant battle axe started to shine brightly as a tremendous amount of power welled up inside them.Booom! He crashed down heavily with his battle axe on the orc who raised it's rusted sword to defend. But alas the strike this time wasn't anything like before and it broke the sword into pieces and fell on the orc like a mountain, completely crushing it's body splattering it's remains all over the place and creating a deep crater on the ground."Damn bastard! We should be arriving there in a week! Fuck you and your calculation errors!" Raiden, who's body was now covered in orc blood, bellowed as he looked at kane. However Kane was currently too engaged to care about Raiden's temper tantrum."What's happening? No matter how I look at it, my calculations based on all the maps we have collected is correct! We should have arrived at the cave three days ago!" He sat on the ground with dozens of maps opened in front of him."Aww~ why so tense? It's only some miscalculations, it's not like it hasn't happened before or anything right?" The girl who was dressed like a witch leaned on a tree and looked at Kane teasingly."Cut it out Riri! Can't you see he is trying to focus!" Saila was sitting not far away from her reprimanded in a stern but cute voice."Ah~ the holy maiden Saila to the rescue! How touching~ hahaha!" Riri gave Saila a meaningful look as she spoke.Thud!Suddenly, a shadow jumped down from a tree and approached the group, it was the bald man with the twin swords on his back."Mokuzen, did you find any clues?" Raiden hurriedly folded the maps and stood up."No... However I did find something very unusual" Mokuzen shook his head before speaking with an odd expression."Unusual? What did you see?" Riri immediately perked up at the mention of something unusual."It's easier if you see it yourselves" He gestured for the group to follow him and walked towards a certain direction."Gaaah! Now what is this nonsense? It better be something really unusual!" Raiden hurled the giant battle axe on his shoulder and followed along with the rest. After walking for a couple of minutes they arrived at a riverbank and there they saw something unbelievable.A huge and muscular orc was squatting near the riverbank with the carcass of a large herbivore beast in front of it.It used a small sword to butcher it into smaller pieces before washing and placing them in a wooden basket. The hideous orc's human-like behavior left Kane and the party speechless for a couple of minutes."That's an orc, right?" Raiden, who couldn't bear it anymore, spoke with an unsure tone."It displays an intellectual level of at least an orc chief, however, as we can see, it's merely an orc warrior or champion at best. It's highly likely that the orc in front of us is a mutated orc, one who gained an intelligence boost" Kane analyzed the scene playing in front of him.As someone from a once elite adventurer family, Kane was the most knowledgeable about monsters among the group."It's a rarely seen mutation but it does happen, we call them intelligent orcs and most of the time they evolve into orc chieftains or other higher level classes like orc lord""S-So the orc in front of us might become an o-orc chieftain or even an orc l-lord?" Saila stuttered as her face darkened, her small body was slightly trembling."Saila... Can't you keep your know it all personality under check sometimes? Now look, you made Saila upset!" Riri glared at Kane and reprimanded with a stern voice."Ah! I'm an idiot! Saila, I'm so sorry, i didn't mean to bring up bad memories!" Kane smacked the back of his head and apologised to Saila."N-No, it's fine... It's past, sooner I later I will have to overcome it of I want to truly be a part of the team!" Saila felt even more sad as she looked at Kane apologising to her, she clenched her teeth and resolved her mind and looked at the orc."An orc lord... an.. orc.. lord!! Pheew!" She breathed in and out and her body finally started relaxing but her gaze became even more intense."I.. I will avenge them.. No matter what I have to do.. I will make sure no orc lord is able to cause the same tragedy ever again!" She exhaled a long breath and all tension finally left her body, her eyes were now burning with absolute confidence and fighting spirit.Saila Frid was from a small hunting village which used to exist on the outskirts of of great luminous forest, it was called the luminous village. Most of the villagers were either hunters who hunted the beasts and monsters from the forest or merchants who would take the resources obtained from the forest to nearby towns and exchange them for the necessary supplies and tools. The village was quite safe and rarely would hunters die due their carelessness. It was thanks to the strict discipline and training one had to go through in order to be qualified as one.Saila's father was a herbalist, he was from a traveler and one day he had gotten lost in the forest while searching for rare ingredients. He was attacked by a wolf and almost killed but was saved by the hunters and brought to the village. He lived in the village as a guest for some time but soon became quite popular as a trustworthy herbalist. The small village where the only one who could treat injuries and illness was a dying old man with superficial knowledge of medicine had always been in need of a proper doctor and so he was quickly acknowledged by the villagers and the village chief.Living his days in the peaceful village as a respected doctor her father quickly grew fond of the village and on one fateful day fell in love with her mother, the daughter of a veteran hunter.Things developed rapidly and they soon got married and had their first child, who they named after a local legend about a holy spirit that protected the forest, Saila.Life was peaceful and blissful but on that ill fated day a huge orc army lead by an orc lord passed through their forrest, burning the village to the ground. The villagers were slaughtered and stored as ration for the orc army while the women were captured and to be used as sex slaves for their lord.Saila who was jus eight years old, along with some other kids, was saved by a travelling priest who had been staying at the village at that time. The priest took them back to the church where they were raised and became priests and priestesses. However among the children who were saved that say, she was the one who was traumatised the most since she was the oldest among them and the one who had seen the most. She had literally seen her father being beheaded by a hideous orc before his body was taken back to be used as food.Looking at Saila burning with fighting spirit Kane, Riri, Raiden and Mokuzen couldn't help but smile. They had been together for many years and among the group Saila was the most recent one to join since she joined only two years ago while the others knew each other for almost ten years.Although she was the weakest, both physically and mentally, she was also the most caring, trustworthy and reliable among them. She perfectly fulfilled her role as a healer and support mage while also going out of her way to help the team in any other way she could to the point of sometimes falling ill due to over exhaustion, in this matter the group were helpless because she just wouldn't take a no for an answer. The group had found out about her tragic past during one of their quests which involved orcs. After the group was put under immense danger during the quest, she had blamed herself and decided to recount her past even if it was very painful of a memory for her. Now, looking at her finally coming to terms with her past and finding a new will to strive the group felt deeply happy for her."Aren't you forgetting something? You are not alone anymore, we are all in this together!" Riri pinched Saila's cheeks and said with a smile."She is right, your problems are our problems. We are a team after all!" Kane noded."Alright! So when do we begin our orc extermination crusade? I feel like I can take a dozen orc champions by myself!" Raiden, who was all fired up, clenched his battle axe tightly."You guys...sob.. Yeah! I'm not alone anymore!" Saila almost burst out in tears as she looked at the small but close group of friends."The orc is moving!" At that moment Mokuzen hurriedly pointed out.The group immediately looked back at the riverbank and found that the orc was already done with butchering and cleaning the beast. He was now carrying two baskets full of cleaned meat and walking towards a certain direction."Should we follow it?" Mokuzen looked back at the group, especially Saila and asked."Yes!" An replied with a sin affirmative word."Yeah, let's see where this fella leads use, we are lost anyways!" Raiden immediately agreed."Pffttt, you just want to kick some orc ass!" Riri added with a laugh."Sigh, Raiden is right though. We are completely off track now, might as well see where the orc leads us before we return" Kane also agreed. As the orc moved through the forest slowly, the group followed from a safe distance.Walking for about an hour they arrived at a small clearing, surrounding a hill."A cave!" Raiden exclaimed as he looked at the small hill.A large cave opening could be seen leading inside the hill."This... I think we found our target!" Kane looked at the cave opening with an intense gaze."Huuup!"Swish~"Haaaa!"Swish~Inside the dimly lit cave a topless Alph continuously swung a rusted sword as beads of sweat rolled down his body.Over the course of time his originally skinny body had gained some muscles and now he had a lean but well defined build. After swinging the sword for quite a while, he threw it on the side and sat on a wooden stool. He picked up a wooden cup, dipped it in a bucket filled with water, and scooped out some water before drinking it.Savoring the sweet liquid, Alph drank a couple mouthfuls before putting the cup back.It had been about two weeks since Dane had entered character development and Alph had started his caveman life.Surprisingly the days had passed by quite peacefully.During the initial week, Alph had been constantly tense. Always worrying about what might happen next, but after a week of nothing major happening he had gotten quite relaxed for some reason. He didn't know why, he could swear that such terrifying traumas would take so
Alph looked at the cautious group, trying to make himself look as fierce as possible. When he was lazily waiting for dinner he had suddenly felt the orc engaging in battle and he had been observing from the start. The axe wielding brute, the small and frail looking priestess, the witch with voluptuous body, the shadowy assassin and the sharpshooter at the back.He could see all of them with the grimoir's aerial view, being able to locate the hidden enemies, it was like a cheat. However the orc was outnumbered and outmatched but Alph had decided to let it fight in order to figure out the group's strength. The group was strong and he might not be able to defeat them even with both of his slaves working together. However he had still decided to meet them on his own accord because there was a great probability that the group might enter the cave and if they did, they would face off sooner or later. He felt that it was better to make an impactful entrance, maybe he could use it to negotiat
"Instead how about this? Seeings that you seem to know your way around this place, I want to hire the lot of you" Alph decided to strike while the iron was hot and directly got to the point."You see I'm not exactly from this region so I'm not that familiar. It's good fortune for me to run into an experienced team of adventurerssuch as yourselves" He further added."Uhm, I see. I'm very grateful for your generosity sir, and of course we don't mind helping you in exchange. What can we do for you?" Kane spoke, feeling a heavy burden being lifted off of him. After all, there really was no reason for Alph to start living in the forest if he was there just for the Elven Forest. The Cave Of Tranquility was said to have the effects of calming the mind and inducing tranquility, hence it was possible that Alph was really there to train his mind and soul as he had said."I just need your help getting to the nearest city and of course I can pay if needed" Alph was wiling to give up a few Golden
Rooaarrrr!A giant bear standing on two legs with wisps of flames covering it's body roared in pain. There was a green, glowing arrow sticking in it's left eye and greenish veins covered the left side of it's face, squirming erratically.Raiden faced against the huge bear which was more than double his already big size, there was a visible claw mark on his chest. The piece of white cloth, which was tied on his left arm, poured out a burst of white light which started to quickly heal his wounds.Bang! He gripped the silver battleaxe tightly and blocked the fiery claws of the giant bear which caused the ground around him to cave in."Haaaaaa!" Raiden roared and dense silver aura erupted from his body, temporarily increasing his strength threefold. His muscles bulged to their limit and he jerked the battleaxe against the bear's claw, causing it to be thrown back and take a few steps back, creating a split second of opening."Now!' Kane shouted from a tree with the green elven bow in his
Alph Played around with the grimoir for a while before preparing to sleep.Tomorrow they would be leaving the forest and arriving at a town, he couldn't wait to see what the towns and cities in this world were like. The Draylion was already standing guard near their camp, he had ordered it to send him distress signals if it encountered anything suspicious, and after telling the Orc to stand guard near his tent and do the same Alph decided to retire for the night."Maybe we can throw a surprise party for Kane and Saila!" He was still thinking about the new couple, he wanted to congratulate them properly. He closed his eyes with such thoughts and soon he fell asleep. It was a silent night, the moon hung high and the stars shined brilliantly. In the silent and beautiful night, a short girl wearing a priestess robe was hurrying towards a certain direction. Her eyes were slightly red and tears were streaming down her face. She stopped after arriving in front of a tent, there was panick, unc
Four days later something strange happened, the Grimoire Of Gluttony which was lying on the ground near Alph suddenly started floating and opened up by itself. It flipped to Dane's page and a strange mix of golden and red light burst out from it, materializing into the figure of a man before solidifying as, the now vastly different from before, Dane.He wore an exquisite white suit with golden and red embroideries. His white hair and aged face had an extremely holy and noble aura about them making him look like a dignified saint."Master...." He looked at the petrified Alph and anger flashed in his eyes.He quickly stepped in front of him and a golden knife materialized In his right hand. The golden knife had an exquisite appearance and it was overflowing with holy aura.He gripped the knife tightly and stabbed it into Alph's chest. The stone surface didn't pose any hindrance to the knife and it easily pierced through. Not stopping there, he summoned another golden knife and this time
The town of Ruid was a bustling town. Although it was labeled a town, it rivaled cities in population and prosperity.Located right beside the Great Forest Of Lumina, Ruid was an ideal location for adventurers and the likes and there was no lack of opportunities in the town. With a history dating back to times even preceding the kingdom itself, Ruid held the distinction of being a Royal Town. As such, it wasn't under the territory of a noble or a lord but instead came directly under the royalty. It was a town of high status and importance and it didn't have any lack of wealthy individuals hence the town had a separate area for them called the Noble District. The Noble District was a symbol of luxury and grandeur. It was a neighborhood that was exclusively reserved for the town's most prosperous citizens. The streets here were wide and clean and adorned with elegant lamp posts that cast a warm glow on the surroundings. "We are in the town of Ruid, Master," Dane spoke while still in a bowing position."Town of Ruid... I guess it wasn't a dream then." Alph massaged his sore templeds, his thoughts slowly getting back on track. He looked around at the luxurious room, feeling inexplicably uncomfortable, Alph asked, "I guess a lot happened while I was knocked out.""Yes Master, you were unconscious for 26 days and in your absence I did my utmost to gather information and build a position in the town. Right now I hold a very high status as a Saint," Dane replied."A Saint?" Alph only got more confused. It seemed like Dane's character development had greatly boosted his powers, it was good that Dane had obtained a high status in the town but Alph was still somewhat numb.He hadn't been in this world for long and he had already nearly died, not to mention lost all of the friends he had just made.Dak!Dak!"Dane-" Just as Alph was about to ask another question, someone knocked on the bedroom door."Did you c
"Hwaaa-" Alph let out a small yawn, his eyes slowly opening as the morning light seeped through the curtains, casting a glow in the fancy room.Pushing his arms over his head for a stretch, Alph climbed out of bed and picked up the porcelain jug and poured himself a glass of water. He emptied the glass in a few gulps, the cool sensation of the liquid gushing down his dry throat driving away the last bits of his sleepiness. To his surprise, Alph had a fantastic night's sleep with no signs of a headache or anything. He felt calm and relaxed, his mind was tranquil and peaceful.Walking towards the large window, he opened the curtains and peered outside. The mansion's garden stretched out before his eyes, bustling with servants tending to various tasks like watering the plants, trimming the grass, and cleaning the pathways.Alph noticed two men in armors, swords hanging from their waists, engaged in conversation. They appeared to be the mansion's guards.Suddenly, one of the guards, a bur
"Haah!" Alph sighed, feeling a bit drowsy. He had been in the library for hours, continuously reading and absorbing knowledge of this world.Carefully putting a bookmark on the book he was reading, which was titled "History Of Major Events In Veratus 1", Alph put down the book on the desk. The book was a timeline compilation of all the major events and incidents that had taken place in the continent of Veratus throughout the known history.Apparently it was just 1 of a series of 10, and it was already as thick as any chunky dictionary from Earth. There were all sorts of incidents recorded in it, from rise and fall of powerful and mysterious organizations or individuals to wars that ravaged the continent for years."This world doesn't seem very peaceful..." Was what Alph came to conclude.Unlike his previous world, wars broke out quite often here and even when there were no wars, skirmishes and small scale battles were a common occurance. It was a world where the adege "Survival Of The
"T-This, what's all this?" Alph looked through his profile, feeling confused. It was completely different from the way the Grimoire Of Gluttony displayed the information, which Alph had yet figured out.But what caught his attention the most was the last paragraph, "Special Condition?"*The Holy Blade Of Sacrifice is one of Dane's special skills so this means that he has used that skill two times on me and with two different sacrifices...*Alph didn't know how he should feel about it, Dane was just looking out for his safety and the skill explicitly stated that the sacrifice must agree for the skill to work, how had Dane persuaded someone to throw away their life? And who were the sacrifices? Also the last special condition seemed a bit concerning, normally otherworlders were granted special perks but there were only question marks about it, Alph didn't know if it was beneficial or harmful.*There's no use me sulking over it, I'll find out sooner or later*Right now, he was more conce
"Her full name is Elizabeth Eris Lane. She hails from a noble family but her father was accused of blasphemy by the Church of Vallan for preaching the teachings of a different religion in his territory," Dane started to recount her past."He and all of his sons were publicly executed by the Church's Inquisitors and Elizabeth and her mother were sold into slavery. Soon her mother died and she has since lived a life of a lowly slave, being passed from one master to another," He continued, his voice as cold as ever."I bought her off from her previous master, I deemed that her broken spirit would be far easier to tame," Dane concluded, as if he wasn't talking about a human being but a pet.Alph was silent, normally his reaction would have been of anger and disgust but right now, he didn't feel anything.*It's not like Dane did anything wrong, her life was already doomed. If anything he might have saved her* Alph thought.*Anyways, what's all this about Dane becoming a Saint?* Alph drove a
