Events From The Past [I]

"What, you saw a ghost again?" Sebastian made a strange sound, making the two of them immediately the focus of the cabin.

Garvin gave him a slight kick. "Shh, keep your voice down!"

"Garvin, do you want to break my leg?" Sebastian grinned while holding his right leg that was so painful from his kick. "Any harder, and I would have ended up with broken bones."

When everyone saw that the actions of the two, they thought the two were joking, so they went about their own business.

Garvin breathed a sigh of relief and said with a sad face: "Really, just now I saw a woman in white clothes and long hair floating next to the fisherman. Her eyes....something scary about them, but she disappeared in the blink of an eye."

"Are you sure that's what you saw? Maybe you see it wrong?" Sebastian looked back at the fisherman, who happily continued to chat with the stewardess, but this time he changed the topic.

The tale the fisherman was boasting about now was when he caught a big shark while out on a small fishing boat. He said it was a spectacular scene.

Garvin held his head in pain and lamented in a low voice: "I thought the same way when I encountered this kind of situations, but after several times now, I have begun to doubt my view of the world view, life and values. The worst thing is Yes, the situation seems to be getting more and more serious now. In the past, I only encounter these kinds of strange things in the hospital, but now I can’t even take a boat without seeing them, what should I do?"

Sebastian didn't say anything, but stretched out his hand and put it against Garvin's forehead. The purpose was very obvious, he wanted to test whether he had a fever or not.

"I don't have a fever!" Garvin quickly avoided his hand. "I'm fine."

"That's just strange, very strange." Sebastian concluded. "What could be wrong with you then?"

"You don't believe what I say?" Garvin was very angry.

"What do you think?" Sebastian was not afraid of his anger and did not forget to give him a look.

"If you don't believe me, then there's no reason for me to tell you anything!" Garvin decided not to narrate anything to his friend anymore, but at this moment, the turbulent waves in his brain could not calm down. What he was mulling over and over in his mind were all the experiences he had had in recent times.

The first time he encountered something incredible was more than half a year ago. At that time, although his life was not a comfortable one, and his work was quite hard, at least it was still running on a normal track: he had a stable job. He was working as a doctor at the First Affiliated Hospital of Medical University. What more, he had a stable place of residence - although it was just a staff dormitory provided by the First Affiliated Hospital of Providence Medical University, and a stable relationship with his girlfriend. At least he thought it was stable.

However, on a dark and stormy night, when he was working the night shift in the respiratory medicine department of that hospital, something strange happened without warning.

That night, three inpatients came to the respiratory medical department where he was on duty. He was busy until three o'clock in the middle of the night before dragging his exhausted body back to the duty room at the bottom of the ground floor to rest.

Strangely enough, the moment he took the key to open the door to the duty room, he suddenly remembered the stories he had heard about the haunting of this department. It was said that many doctors who had been on duty on this floor before had heard footsteps coming and going from the door of the duty room, in the middle of the night.

Sometimes they heard the sound of someone twisting the door handle of the duty room. At first, everyone thought it was a patient or family member who couldn't sleep taking a walk, or someone. He was playing a prank, so he didn't pay much attention to it.

Until late one night, a doctor on duty who had poor sleep quality couldn't bear the noise that disturbed his sleep. He ran out of bed and suddenly opened the door of the duty room, only to see that there was no one at the door. As soon as he closed the door, the footsteps sounded again, and he opened the door again, but there was still no one. As soon as he closed the door, the footsteps came again, accompanied by the sound of the door handle being turned...

This strange phenomenon happened again and again until it was getting dark, and it completely disappeared. It was said that since then, the doctor would rather resign than be rotated to this department again.

This was not the first time that Garvin worked the night shift in the Department of Respiratory Medicine, but he had never heard the legendary strange footsteps or the sound of doorknobs turning, so he had forgotten all about this story. But for some reason, it happened one day.

That night he suddenly remembered it and felt a chill down his spine. He quickly opened the door to the duty room, walked in, and locked it forcefully. Urged by the fatigue caused by the previous hectic work, he quickly got himself into bed. But not long after laying down, while half asleep, he suddenly heard a sound of footsteps, followed by the sound of someone twisting the door handle back and forth, as if someone was twisting the locked door hard and trying to get in.

Could it be that the nurse came to him with something urgent? But he knew that could not right. Generally, when the nurse on duty wanted to find the doctor on duty, and then she would notify him directly via the phone number in the duty room.

It couldn't be that some patient or accompanying family member was insomnia and bored and was playing a prank, could it? In a daze, Garvin wanted to turn over to see what was going on, but strangely, his body was surprisingly heavy and he couldn't move his hands or feet.

Then, there was a loud bang.
