When the taxi almost reaches the neighborhood where Victor lives, only then does that car stop following. The taxi takes a turn, and that car just keeps going.

In the end, they don’t know for sure whether that car was really following them or not. But Victor feels so grateful for that old taxi driver’s concern regarding his safety.

And so, Victor pays the taxi, not only double, but triple. However, Mr. Jameson looks reluctant to accept the extra pay Victor gives to him.

“If you pay me this much only for what I just did, then forget it. I did it for what I thought was the right thing to do,” he declines.

“No, that’s not it. Let’s say I just hit a jackpot. The item I put into the auction found a generous buyer. He bade my ring for double the initial price,” explains Victor.

“Is that so? Well, I accept your generosity then. Just call me again whenever you need,” says that old man as he waits for Victor to leave the car.
