162 - A Clue
Ironically, she used to believe that spending time with family is much more important than money. But now, she can’t judge that kind of father too badly. Not after she herself has destroyed her own marriage because of money.

She takes a deep breath, trying to relieve herself from that burdening thoughts. She just doesn’t know what will she do later when her dad comes home.

“Ah, what about Ellie? Where is she?” Emma asks about her younger sister.

“She settles at Owen Sound now. It's quite close to the campus where she attends to. She will only back home on the weekend.”

Emma can’t even hide her sympathy toward her mom to hear that answer, to know that her mother is all alone in that big house.

“Is it okay for you to be at home only by yourself? What if something happens?”

The mother smiles, and says, “there is a maid at our house now.”

Emma squints her eyes with an unsatisfied expression, suspecting that it’s just her dad’s way to not make her mom to feel lonely.
