235 - What Did You Do?

When Mrs. Emilia directly expresses her condolences to Nora, Victor is just silently standing in front of the bed where Grace is still lying unconsciously. He notices the condition of Grace’s left hand. And so, he slowly walks closer to her while he keeps observing that left hand.

“Victor?” asks Mrs. Emilia softly, expecting him to also express his condolences to Leonard’s wife.

But Victor doesn’t give any response. The tip of his fingers slightly touch the part of Grace’s hand that is wrapped by bandages.

He begins to suspect that the girl was committing a suicide. He can’t imagine how chaotic the situation in that house could be, something that is really out of his calculation.

Nora notices Victor’s concern. But she doesn’t want anyone to think bad about her daughter or Leonard. So she tries to bring up a story to cover that issue.

“I heard a story that she often got bullied in the school by her friends,” says Nora.

“Huh?” responses Mrs. Emilia with a startled face. “Did she…”
