Chapter 53

Chintya let out a long breath and bowed her head. She observed the reflection of her face in the reflection of the canned beer filled with water vapour. She stared blankly at it and thought, "It's my fault for expecting too much." Perhaps she should have asked where they were going first instead of jumping to conclusions.

In Chintya's mind, she blamed herself for expecting too much from Julius. Indeed, what could be expected from Julius? He was a man who was insensitive to his circumstances. Julius has been living in deprivation all this time and suddenly appears in a much different situation. They hadn't spoken to each other in a long time. Chintya wanted to hit him on the head for imagining too much.

Chintya glanced at Julius with the tail of her eye. The man seemed to be enjoying every sip of his drink with a happy gleam in his eyes. He looked at Chintya and asked, "Is it not enough? Do you want some more?"

Chintya shook her head and said, "No." She lowered her face to the floor
