Chapter 6

Julius would always remember who they were. They were one of the few friends Bella had ever met. The few times they met, they always said bad things and insulted Julius at will. They even told Julius that he was an annoying sewer rat.

Knowing that the atmosphere would not improve if he stayed there, Julius chose to remain ignorant. Julius casually turned around, walking away from the two people staring at him.

"Heh, sewer rat! Where are you going? I'm not done talking to you yet!" he snapped with a hand roughly grabbing Julius' back collar. Julius, unprepared, stumbled and almost fell to the asphalt.

Unable to hold back, Julius returned the stares of the two people in front of him with equally fierce looks.

"Did you look like that, huh? Do you dare me now?" he challenged as he rolled his shirt sleeves even higher.

"He won't dare Ron! That stinking rat doesn't have the guts to fight you! He's got no one now!" The woman, Tina, fanned her face with her hands. The woman laughed mockingly.

Tina's eyes narrowed, assessing Julius' appearance from top to bottom. The fact that Julius had been dumped by the Cellen family had already spread. Indeed, who would take in a stupid and useless human like Julius? If it was Tina, she wouldn't want to do it either!

"Oh, of course you're right, Tina! This rat wouldn't dare to fight me! He's already been banished by Mr. Noel! This smelly, shameless rat who claims to be Bella's fiancé must be lamenting his fate of being homeless right now!" Ron spoke again, this time pointing impolitely at Julius' face.

"Very interesting, a smelly sewer rat named Julius!" The two laughed together, enjoying the insult to Julius, who was starting to get annoyed.

"Poor thing! You must be having trouble finding work, huh?" The woman giggled, laughing at Julius' annoyed face, which was actually not funny at all.

"You're in the wrong place, you stinking rat! You shouldn't be looking for work in an elite place like this! They'll kick you out when you're a hundred meters from the front door!" Ron taunted in a loud voice.

"Don't you have anything better to do than take care of other people's lives? I don't need a job. Mind your own business!" replied Julius firmly. The man shoved his hands into his pockets.

Pointing at Julius' face, Julius slapped his hand away, showing his displeasure."Heh, Julius! Don't be so pretentious! You're an outcast rat! There's no way you don't need a job!"

"How dare you slap my hand away, huh?!" challenged Roni fiercely. The man became even more annoyed when he realized Julius was ignoring him.

The woman accused Julius without any evidence. "An outcast rat like you, what else do you want here but to get a job, huh?! Oh, or maybe you want to steal, huh?" Hearing Tina's words, Ron then laughed like a madman.

"Oh, of course it's true, Tina! This rat has a lot of debts to pay! He must be looking for a target here! He's a disgusting criminal!" Ron added, in her annoying know-it-all style.

Ron's big voice and Tina's shrill one attracted the attention of many passers-by. Those who were already there were even more curious, while people who happened to be passing by started to stop and find out what was going on. Some of them whispered to each other, wondering what was going on.

Looking around, Julius took a rough breath. Now, they were the centre of attention. Julius didn't like it and felt even more annoyed, but he realized that if he got angry, then it would only be fun for the two people in front of him. Ron and Tina loved to annoy him, whether then or now.

So, Julius calmly spoke, "I'm not looking for work and I'm not a criminal. I live here, that's why I'm around now. You don't know anything, it's best to keep quiet."

Ron snorted, "Don't dream, Julius! How can you possibly live here?! You're poor and poorly educated! You can't even be a lowly worker, let alone live here!"

"I live on the top floor, Ron." Short and to the point. Julius seemed so serious about his words that he didn't blink.

There was silence for a while. Until Ron and Tina burst out laughing, holding their stomachs. Julius snorted, knowing all too well their trouble-making nature. His gaze was cold, reluctant to engage.

Julius already had everything. He wouldn't be bothered by Tina and Ron's remarks. Anything he could do, caring for two brainless people like them, was easy.

"Damn! You're dreaming so high, you idiot! Wake up!" Tina half yelled. Ron was about to explode and was now hitting her knees as she couldn't stop laughing.

"You're so desperate after being kicked out that your brain is skewed, huh? How can a poor person like you live upstairs, huh? You'd have to beg for food first! Look at how disgusting you look!" Ron pointed out after he had finished laughing until he was hoarse.

Julius frowned. The man turned to the glass of the building to check his appearance. Though he thought if he wasn't that disgusting!

Yes, with a work suit that was already wrinkled because he wore it all night. A dull face that had only been splashed with water to freshen it up, hair that was dishevelled and disorganized. Also, worn-out shoes with peeling edges and faded colours.

Obviously, this drew laughter from the people who began to think he was just an impostor like the two people in front of him. But Julius didn't care. After all, he was just about to go shopping. Yesterday, he came dragged in without any preparation.

"Don't make things up, Julius! If you're going to lie, find something that makes sense!" Tina fanned her hot red face with her hand from laughing too much.

"Wait a minute, what did you say? Do you live on the top floor of this elite building?" asked Ron while pointing at the building with her index finger.

"I told you, didn't I?" Julius didn't want to repeat himself. He had told the truth. But Ron looked dissatisfied!

"Didn't you know that up there, at the top of this building, there's a penthouse?" Ron glared, asking in a pretentious tone.

Julius nodded, of course, he knew that. He'd been living and sleeping there since last night.

"And do you know how much it costs? It's unbelievably expensive, damn it! Don't dream of living up there, you poor swindler!" Ron scolded with chattering teeth.

"Even if you sold your kidney, you wouldn't be able to afford a bathroom up there, Julius! Stop daydreaming and wake up! You stupid criminal!" Ron wasn't satisfied with insulting Julius yet, for him, Julius' face looked very annoying in his eyes.

Looking around at the increasingly crowded surroundings, Julius sighed again. The man leaned back, staring at Ron with fearless firmness. This man had to be stopped, or else he would become more and more violent.

"But I do live there. If you don't believe me, that's your business. Now, I have to go, you're blocking my way."
