Chapter 8

Vivian was standing, looking stunned in front of Sebatian and Abigail in the office of the President. She then felt so ashamed of herself.

“I'm sorry, I'm sorry..” Vivian said as he got out from shock, and got back to herself. She picked up the file she dropped on the floor.

The General Secretary ignored her, and took the file from her hands. She took out the investment plans from the file, putting them in front of Sebastian, she said, “My President, these are the plans for this year's investment. Every company and the total amount of investments is there.”

The investment plans were made up of potential investment that other companies are willing to stake. Every year, companies in Lanchester, including the Nike company, invests in Prime Enterprises, for future returns.

The year was different because Prime Enterprise kept the plans on hold because of the crisis, in order not to disappoint those companies in their yearly returns. But now, the crisis is over.

Sebastian looked through the investment plans, and said, “The total amount I'm seeing here is just a billion dollars. Well, it's a fair one, but for the year's investment plans, plans have changed. There won't be any investment plan for this year.”

Abigail and Vivian who were in the office felt confused. The investment plans have never been canceled before in the company.

Abigail couldn't keep her confused state to herself.

“Sorry my President, I'm not disputing what you just said, but there's an investment meeting coming up with the concerned companies. How are we going to tell them the investment plans for this year have been canceled?”

“Why don't you figure that out.” Sebatian said lightly. “However, I will be investing six billion dollars to cover up the investment plans for this year.”

“And do me a favor, tell the investors for this year that the plans for this have been canceled. But the investment meeting will still hold.”

“As you wish my President.” Abigail responded. Afterwards, she walked out of the office.

Vivian couldn't leave the office yet, she felt afraid and guilty. The very important investment plans have just been canceled by Sebatian without stress, she then wondered how very easy her dismissal from the company will be.

She stood in front of Sebastian, and with a pathetic voice, started apologizing, “Mr President, I'm so sorry for what I did to you during the wedding ceremony, and at the gate today. Please can you just forgive me?”

“You have such courage to apologize.” Sebatian mocked her. “You were acting all bossy the times we got an encounter.”

“I'm sorry Mr President, I didn't mean it like that.” her voice was shaky.

Sebatian laughed out mockingly, he looked at her as his facial expression changed. “I know you're scared of being fired, but I won't. Still, I can only keep that promise if you don't disclose my true identity. If you ever dare to, you are out of this company in seconds!”

“I swear Mr President, I won't. I would not dare.” She was trembling as she immediately left the office.

It was a night unlike every night for the Nike family. It was the Nike family dinner night which they hold once every year with the guests they invite. And for this dinner night, the only invited guest was Brian.

All the members of the Nike family were seated on the chairs of the dining table. Brian who was present, was seated close to Juliana. Even when Sebastian wasn't ok with it, he couldn't do anything as he allowed it to be.

The news of the canceled investment plans had reached the Nike family, and they had to voice out how they felt.

“I couldn't just believe the news from Prime Enterprise. How're we going to strive this year? What's their plan?”

“I heard the news that the President had invested six billion dollars just to cover the canceled investment plans for the year.”

“This is so unexpected. I heard the investment meeting will still be held for the year. I really hope he reconsiders canceling the investment plans.”

The Nike family were not in their mood because of the news. And why it was like that cannot be told.

“Hey everybody just listen please.” At the top of the dining table, Brian waved his hand. “I'm sure those who invested this year will be compensated accordingly. It possibly will be discussed during the meeting, that those investors for the year will have a share in the six billion dollars investment.”

“And besides, don't worry, I am a friend to the new President, and I will make sure the Nike company get a bigger share in this year's investment.”

“Well, as long as that can happen, and we could get on with the new President, as long as we can also get a bigger share in the six billion dollars investment! Then the Nike family will be fine.” Senior Nike said.

Everyone actually believed Brian, except Sebastian. Sebastian knew that was a lie from Brian, he was never his friend, and never will.

There was a pause from the other members of the family after Senior Nike had finished talking.

Getting a bigger share from the six billion dollars investment? That would go a long way in helping them with the financial crisis they had at hand. The Nike family thought it was a blessing in disguise for them.

Romy's eyes brightened, he adjusted his seat and said, “Grandpa, I'm very sure Brian can help us, if he knows the President, then everything is solved.”

He then looked at Juliana, and said with an unquestionable tone. “I'm just happy for Juliana and our family. When she gets married to Brian, the Nike company will never be in crisis again, we'll be as influential as the Prime company.”

This made Brian feel big and influential, he felt this was the time to pay Sebastian back for what he made him do in the wedding ceremony. Brian then put his hand by the side pocket inside his suit. He brought out something.

“This is a cheque of four million dollars, it's a gift actually. I promise you so right here, right now that if Juliana divorces this beggar she calls her husband, I'll do even more than help Nike family out of crisis.”

“Four million dollars?!”

Every member of the family became so convinced. They took the cheque and handed it to Senior Nike.

Although four million dollars was not really a big deal considering the caliber of the Nike family, but at the moment, Sebatian couldn't do better.

After giving the gift, the members of the Nike family tried to persuade Juliana to divorce Sebastian. They thought this was there best and only chance to get out of their crisis.

Sebatian's presence as the husband to Juliana, was totally ignored. He was disrespected like other times.

They had trusted Brian and they believed he could do exactly as he said, because he made them believe he was the manager of Prime Enterprise and a very prominent person in Prime Enterprise.

“I want to marry Juliana, and take her out of this her beggar of a husband, making her happy again.” Brian continued.

“I will put all my properties under her name, she'll be very wealthy too.”

The pressure on Juliana to divorce Sebastian became so high. And her facial expression said it all, even without saying anything.
