CHAPTER 38

Leonid paced to and fro, waiting for the doctor. The doctors were still attending to his mother; his heart was racing, and he was blaming himself. He shouldn't have visited her today; he was the cause. Everyone else was sitting nervously, waiting for the doctor.

"Leonid." Shelby called. "Calm down."

"How can I?" Leonid yelled. "Why are you so calm?"

"One of us has to be." Shelby replied. "She will be alright."

"Alright?" Leonid snarled. "Did you see how she was bleeding?"

"I did." Shelby calmly responded.

Leonid felt like he was drowning and couldn't breathe. The waiter was turning his brains upside down. He couldn't bear to lose her; she had been there for him when no one was. His mother was his first love and his first support. The one who cheered him up, the one who taught him how to endure the endless struggle and bullies Her smile had made his heart flutter and was absolutely the most beautiful thing he had seen.

"It's your wife in there, and you are acting calm." Leonid mumbled.
