CHAPTER 49

When they reached the party, Satan opened the car door for her, and she clung to his arm. Smiling sweetly at him, they walked into the party like a happy couple. Several guests admired Amelia's dress as she entered the party.

"Ciao (Hello)," Satan greeted them, offering them a warm smile.

"You have a beautiful wife," a woman complimented in Italian.

"Thank you," Satan replied.

Amelia glanced at them. "What did she say?"

"You don't understand, do you?" Satan asked.

Amelia shook her head. "I don't."

Satan led her to a large table at the side of the room. He offered her a chair, and she sat down, her gaze trailing around the room, as did his. Forgetting that he had not answered her previous answer, she asked another question.

"Do you think she might show up?" Amelia asked. "The party looks pretty normal."
