Chap 04

“Come on, lick my shoe! Don’t talk big, Robby. Didn’t you say you’d kiss my shoe if I could give you a big tip? I never asked you to do it, but you offered it yourself. So, keep your word like a real man.”

When Charles said something to Robby, Robby's face turned red, and he felt embarrassed for disagreeing with Charles.

Robby was very surprised when Charles gave him 10 thousand dollars as a tip. It was a lot of money, even more than what Charles used to earn when he worked at the hotel.

"H-how? How can you give me this much tip money? You're joking, right." Robby was looking back and forth at his phone screen and then at Charles' feet.

He felt scared and nervous. He didn’t want to lick Charles’ shoes because it would make him feel bad about himself. But he promised to do it, so now he has to face the consequences.

“Come on, lick my shoes. Keep your promise, Robby.”

"No! I don't want to! I'm sure this money you sent must have come from gambling or doing something bad, right?" Robby didn't want to lick Charles' shoes, so he avoided doing it.

“Does it matter to you? Where the money came from, I guess it’s none of your business. Your only concern now is the words you said just now. You will keep your word if you are a real man, right?”

Charles gave Robby a serious look, but when Robby didn’t say anything, Charles took a deep breath to calm down his feelings. Charles didn’t want their dinner with Daniel ruined because Robby was there unexpectedly.

"Next time, don't like to say carelessly, Robby. Lucky today you are dealing with me, if with someone else? I think you've been fired now."

Charles walked away from Robby, who looked sad and embarrassed. Some people there to protect them had to grab Robby and Daniel and take them out of the hotel lobby in a not-very-nice way.

“Remember all of you. Behave yourselves; you could lose your jobs because of your ego and rudeness!” Charles told Daniel to be careful before they went into the lobby.

"Wow! All the food here is so good. I just found out what rich people's food tastes like!" Daniel liked his food and ate it with excitement.

“Me too. It’s just that the portions are too small.”

“It’s also called rich people’s food. They like to diet, while poor people like us prefer to eat our fill because we know we might not have anything to eat tomorrow.”

Charles said yes and ate his food with excitement. “Then, just finish it all. Do you want to order more? I’ll treat you to a full meal tonight.”

Daniel stopped what he was doing and asked Charles to get some yummy treats like ice cream and cake. When Charles was going to get Daniel's food, someone interrupted them.

“Look, Babe. It turns out that poor people also dare to eat in this hotel! Do you think he can pay or not?”

Charles looked back and saw his ex-girlfriend and Deon standing proudly, staring at him and Daniel.

“Already, don’t mind those two," Daniel said, looking sarcastically at Isabella and Deon.

“Tsk, Babe. Look, that man is ignoring our presence. What should they receive for daring to ignore our presence?” Isabella hugged Deon’s hand with a sigh.

“They should be punished, Babe.”

Seeing the intimacy of his ex-girlfriend with another man, Charles vented his emotions by gripping the fork in his hand tightly.

“Waiter!” Deon yelled for a worker in the hotel restaurant.

“Yes, Sir?”

“Call the manager of this hotel. I want to talk to him.”

“Is there a problem, Sir? I’ll help if there’s anything you need.”

“I said, call the hotel manager!” Deon snapped at the waiter.

“Hey!” Charles got up because he was annoyed with how Deon acted and couldn't take it anymore.

The waiter saw that something was about to happen, so he hurried off to tell the hotel manager.

Not long after, a man appeared with hurried steps. “What’s going on? Mr. Deon? Is there a problem, Sir?” The manager bowed respectfully to Deon as he was one of the hotel’s VIP guests.

“How can poor people enter and eat in this hotel? Has the quality of this hotel gone down?”

The hotel manager looked at Deon in surprise. “This hotel always receives guests from the upper class, Mr. Deon. We never accept guests who don’t have money.”

“Hm. Really? Then who are these two? Do you think they are both rich?” Isabella said while pointing at Charles and Daniel.

Isabella showed the hotel manager two men. The manager looked at them closely, surprised because their clothes looked old and worn out. “You? How can you eat in this place? And you.” The hotel manager pointed at Charles. “Aren’t you the bodyguard of this hotel? How can you come in and eat casually here?”

“I’m a bodyguard in this place, Sir. But I have money. Besides, it’s not my shift right now. I didn’t work today because I took my best friend to eat at this hotel. Is that wrong?” asked Charles.

“Have money? Just so you know, Mr. Manager. This man’s salary is only 100 dollars a month, and tonight, the food he ordered will likely be over 500 dollars. Come to think of it, will the two of them be able to pay the bill for the food they have ordered?” Isabella asked with a tone of sarcasm.

“Of course not, Miss. I apologize for ruining your night with their presence. Charles! Take your friend away from this hotel. You don’t deserve to eat here!” The hotel manager ordered in a harsh tone.

“But, Sir, I have money! I can pay the bill for the food I ordered. Why are you discriminating against me like this just because I am a bodyguard?” Charles protested the hotel manager’s decision.

“No! I don’t believe you, Charles. Mr. Deon is a VIP guest of this hotel, while you are just a bodyguard. Who do you think I should kick out of here?”

Charles growled. He stomped his foot in annoyance. “Fine. If you think I deserve to be kicked out, no problem. But don’t ever regret this decision of yours.”

Charles quickly used his phone to send a message to his grandpa Michael. He told him about the bodyguards and the hotel manager who wanted them to leave.

Not long after Charles sent the message to his grandfather, Michael replied by asking his grandson to show him the gold badge and card he had given him.

Charles was initially a little unsure, but he did what his grandpa told him to do. He got a special card from his wallet and gave it to the manager hotel.

"T-this... this isn't just any card. Where did you get this card?" The hotel manager held the gold card with trembling hands.

"It's from my grandfather."

"Gra-grandfather? Who?"

“Michael.”

“Duke?”

Charles nodded while Deon and Isabella looked at both of them, confused. They had no idea what was happening and why the hotel manager looked so scared.

“What’s going on, Manager? Why are you doing nothing? Hurry up and get this poor man out of here!”

“Mr. Deon, sorry. I can’t kick him out of here.”

“Why? Is it just because of this obscure card?”

“This is not just any card, Mr. Deon. This is ... a gold card.”
