Longing

Daniel walked around the room with careful steps, checking every corner carefully. The soft light from the hotel lights cast shadows on his tense face. Jack looked through the gap in the cupboard, his eyes not daring to blink, afraid it would betray his presence. Time seemed to slow down, every second felt like hours.

However, Daniel soon moved towards the cupboard where Jack was hiding. His hand reached the doorknob, and Jack felt his heart stop for a moment. He prayed that his next step would not bring disaster.

Diana broke the silence cleverly. "Daniel, how long are you going to check this room? I want to rest immediately."

Daniel looked up, his eyes trying to penetrate Diana's gaze. "I just want to make sure that you are completely safe, Diana."

Diana kept her face from showing the slightest annoyance. He knew that Daniel was excessively jealous, but this situation didn't allow her to argue about it now.
