Chapter 6 - Let’s sign a contract

“What’s this?” Cephas picked the document up and gazed at it then he stared at her. He flipped through the pages while she responded to him

“It’s a contract that state that if you end up paying and you are saying the truth, I will be heels over head for you,”

Ms Williams folded her arms and fixed her eyes on his movement. Wondering what he would say next.

If he backed out right now, she made up her mind to never speak to him again. It was fair that way because taking a prank this far would justify her cutting him off.

Another part of her hoped that he really had the money on him so that she would not have to sleep with that disgusting old man.

She couldn’t imagine giving her virginity to someone like him, it might even be fairer if it was something that didn’t have an appearance.

Giving up on her business wasn't an option for, she had toiled day and night, working so hard to build up her company beating the odds of coming from a poor family.

She didn’t want to go back to her miserable life.

The bank won’t give her loans, if this man standing before her is messing with her, she planned to take a loan from a loan shark.

It was a risky decision but she needs her business to continue.

He smirked, “You mean what you are saying? That doesn’t seem like a professional contract clause.”

Doubt was written on her, she was probably not aware that he could see what she felt on her face.

He couldn’t blame her, she probably had a lot on her mind, it was a good trait of a business woman but she wasn’t handling it well.

She still needs to take some lessons on good business management and solving crises.

“I will even sleep with you and let you take 50 % of the company shares instead of the profit share that you asked for,” She named more offers. Maybe it would entice him to give her the money if he really had it.

Cephas could not tell if she was being sarcastic or not but he knew for sure that she wasn’t convinced that he could afford to give her that money.

He had been earning one billion dollars per hour since he became the CEO and he didn’t have access to his account for a year.

The money in his account would not even finish if he decided to give everyone in the city 500 million dollars.

Of course, he could not tell her that, he just needs to show her that he wasn’t like Mr Smith and he wants to help her sincerely.

She was not an easy woman, she is around Violet’s age or younger but she was more hardworking. A dedicated woman to her work, striving hard to keep it going.

He remembers who she would wait for him till he finishes all his deliveries before she goes home and it would be so late, sometimes her car gets stuck in snow and she would have to take a cab home before it was too.

If she offered to help her shovel and clear the snow, she would refuse saying he had been in the cold all day. She was the kindest to him when he was at his lowest.

That was enough reason for him to help her out when she was in a financial crisis. She didn’t even need so much money, just 500 million dollars.

Ms Willaims was in disbelief for what he said, her guts thought her that he might be so rich but he disguised to come and marry a humble woman.

She convinced herself that it only happens in movies, never in real life.

What stupid rich man will suffer that much in real life when he is rich, besides Cephas was married so why was he still disguising for a long time.

“Maybe he was just messing with me,” She thought to herself, a frown creased on her forehead.

“I know that there is a possibility that you are trying to make fun of my situation, I am not in the mood for such jokes so this is me warning you ahead.”

“This is not a joke. You have been so good to me, I can’t, no I don’t dare make fun of you,” Cephas insisted.

“If you fail to provide the money today, just promise that you will never show your face in front of me,”

“Ms William, I hate that you don’t believe me but I understand why. Mr Smith might have failed your trust but I am not that kind of person to do that. We have been friends for a long time to build that much trust, Don’t you think so?”

She was reluctant to give him an answer.

“Besides, I am not interested in the clauses you listed here, I have mentioned what I want. The only way I am helping out is because I know how much work you put in this company, I admire and respect it.”

She sighed, “I have heard you.”

“I am a little disappointed in you, Ms. Williams, because of the ‘sleeping with you' clause you added to the contract, saving you from Mr Smith’s offer meant I was going to take advantage of you. I am not an opportunist and I will never use someone's weak moments against them.”

“Nothing is for free, Cephas, Business has taught me that, you are telling me half of your intentions now because you pity me. Who knows what you will do in future asking for some other impossible conditions, that is why I am using the contract to protect myself.”

“It's sad that you think of me that way. I didn’t expect that you would think I am that shallow.” He sounded disappointed.

“Mr Smith was promising and kind when he sent the first deposit, when it was time for him to give us the balance, he suddenly wanted to have sex with me. Men can be the same.”

“I will appreciate it if you don't compare me to that old man, he is disgusting already, you are only going to belittle the righteous men if you say men are the same.”

“Righteous men? Are you one of them?”

He adjusted his suit. “Let’s leave that, to prove that I do not support Mr Smith's behavior, I will have his partner terminate their contract with him.”

“How do you know his partners? First you promised me 500 million dollars, now you are acting like you are well-connected. What are you?”

“You will know soon but I promise to keep my words. I will prove that to you. Can we adjust the contract first? Please remove some of the clauses too. Especially the sexual one.”

“I am clean so you do not need to worry about getting infected.”

“Clean?” he asked confusedly. What was she talking about again?

“Yes, I am a virgin. I have never had sex before, so if you are scared to send the money, you don't have to be.”

He massaged his temple, her answer ticked him off, he was starting to get frustrated that she thought that way.

“I am sincere, I don't want to sleep with you.”

“Prove it!”

“How?”

“Send the money to the company bank account right now.”

Cephas didn’t say a word, he took out his phone from his pocket, his sister had handed it to him in the car before he came to the office.

He punched some numbers into his bank app, then he checked the poster by the wall for the company account details then he transferred the money.

“All done,” he declared.

Ms Willams looked at him in amusement. “You must think I am stupid or I didn’t go to school. It’s so easy to approve that amount of money without going to the bank.”

“He must think I am a fool, he didn’t write a check but a bank transfer? Anyway I am stupid for thinking a mere delivery boy could save my life with the whopping sum of 500 million dollars.” she thought to herself.

“Bank? I have never gone to the bank before. My bank managers take care of everything, that’s why I have you pay me cash for my daily wages.” He replied to her truthfully.

“You are starting to speak nonsense, Cephas. I think addressing you with your first name has made you think you can mess with me, Mr Walter.”

“Are you saying that again? That old man really made you develop trust issues. I have no reason to prank you so why would I do that in the first place?”

“Mr Walter, please leave my office so I can find a solution to my problems.”

“Just check your balance, the company's account balances.”

“Stop this please and leave my office, Mr Walter.”

“Check the account balance,” he insisted with a smile on his face.

Ms Williams took the company phone from her drawer to check the balance.. She opened her bank app, it took a few minutes for it to open.

When it opened, she shrieked and dropped her phone on the table, she had never seen that massive amount in her life.
