The company had gone to be bigger than what it used to be. Sarah moved close to him.
“You are going to reclaim your position as the CEO, Father was impressed that the Worbes magazine mentioned you as the Magnate of the year for the past three years.”
The bodyguards quickly surrounded him as he got down from the car. He was impressed because he didn’t get this kind of treatment from father in the past.
He drove himself without a driver or bodyguards, his father had banned all those services from his reach.
His hard work while he was at the company paid off and his father finally gave him what he deserved.
To keep him protected, she and the bodyguards helped him pass the back of the company. After the day’s work, Sarah took him to his hotel penthouse.
“We are doing temporary renovations in your house, you should stay here for now, your team will come pick you up tomorrow,” she informed him. “Do you want them to come with this car?”
“No, go fix the rear end, I want my black Rolls Royce.”
“The one you ordered before Father banished you?” She teased him.
“Yes. I need to seat in my baby as soon as possible.” He said excitedly.
“You should get going, don’t be late for work. I won’t be around for a while though.”
“Why?”
“I am joining Father at a conference in France. Don’t go anywhere without the guards, your team and stay safe,”
“Okay, stay in touch. Good night.”
“Goodnight,”
He swung the door open then he carried the box of welcome cake his staff had prepared for him and closed the door back with care. He asked for directions to the hotel restaurant from the receptionist and she directed him there.
Cephas got on the line with other customers while he observed the situation in the restaurant. They had implemented most of the changes he pitched in the past.
Plus the old staff that were negligent of their duties and made the whole hotel’s sales go down.
He nodded in satisfaction then he heard a familiar voice calling him.
“Cephas! It’s really you!'' Hannah, his ex-wife’s best friend yelled as she walked towards him.
“You are still wearing this messy suit that you wore to court. Who even let you in here with filthy clothes like that?”
“Hey there. Hannah, I didn’t know that you came to grace our divorce process. I didn’t see you after. I suppose you had an engagement.” He answered her politely.
“Coming to watch her divorce you? Heaven forbids that lowly behavior. Do you think I have so much time on my hands to waste? She already has my support with her, which is my brother, Kade.”
He chuckled at her remark.
“I am glad my best friend opened her eyes and saw that my older brother had so much to offer her. Money, good stuff, you name it.” She boasted,
“I gave her everything she wanted too, there was nothing she asked for and I denied her of it.”
“You can't compare yourself to my brother. The first night she agreed to meet him, he gave her five hundred thousand dollars to order a cab. Can you do that?”
“Spending that amount on a cab is ridiculous.”
“That’s why you can’t compare to my rich brother who is a senior executive in Mars Holdings, a sub company of Fellas Corporation. Violet’s life is going to take a massive U-turn. I am so happy for my best friend.”
“Fellas Corporation?” he asked then he remembered that he saw an ongoing acquisition plan in his office.
He knew immediately that this was the right time to purchase it. The Acquisition was pending for some reasons and he had planned on pushing the project to the future but he changed his mind immediately.
Hannah read his facial reaction as fear and sign of defeat. “I see that you have realized that you are nowhere near my brother.”
He smirked as a mischievous smile crept on his face.
“Did you come here to find another rich woman to leech on? Grey even said that you are now trying to hook up with your boss and she made you the new vice chairman.”
“Oh, he told you already. I can't be crying and sulking over Violet, she divorced me and has moved on. I respect that and I have to move on too.”
“My goodness, this fraudster is so proud that he lives off women. Where is the woman you came with?” She looked around the restaurant to check for his boss but she saw no one.
“Sorry to disappoint you, I came here alone, you can stop looking around,” He said with pride.
“That’s not possible, they can’t allow low standard people to come into this place. Take a look at your clothes, if you work here would you allow someone dressed like you to come in?”
She looked at him with sneer on her face as she spoke in a very loud voice. She didn’t even care if people around them were listening to their conversations.
“Why not? Unlike you, I don't judge people with their attire.”
“Anyway, the staff’s entrance is not this way, you can’t deliver cakes through this entrance. You take the back door for deliveries.” She said mockingly.
“I think it’s your turn to pay to check in,” He informed her. The clerk had called her name but she was too engrossed in raining insults at him so she didn’t hear.
She moved towards the clerk. “Good day ma’am, I see that you have booked an appointment for a spa service. Your bill is $1000.”
Cephas saw her hands trembling.
Hanhan reached for her bag to take her atm card, she ran her hands through it. “Oh my days. I can't find my atm card,” She yelled.
“Please check well ma’am.” the clerk said calmly.
“Do you think I am lying? I brought it here!! I paid for my cab fee with it before I came in.” She glared at the Clerk then she faced him. “Ask the security to search him.” She pointed at him.
“ME?” he asked surprisingly. He didn't know she was going to make that move on him.
“Excuse me sir,'' the clerk asked politely. “Did you see her atm card?”
“No, I didn’t.”
“Why are you asking him a question? Can’t you see how he is dressed? You have allowed a mere delivery man to come to a place like this now I can’t find my atm card.”
“I am sorry about that ma’am.”
“If you are really sorry then search him for my card.!” She insisted. “Do you know how much is in it?”
“I will do that the right way, ma'am.” The clerk looked at me, “May I search you sir?” she said calmly.
She was maintaining his professionalism, that was a rare thing for a work to do. “She deserves a raise.” He thought to himself.
“Yes, you can.” I granted her permission.
She got up from her seat and came close to me, she checked my pockets and wallet then she faced Hannah. “I am sorry ma’am, I did not find your card with him. Please check yourself again.”
“Are you insinuating that I am lying?” Hannah flared up. “Call your manager! Ask him to come here right way.”
Before the Clerk could reply here, the manager and some security men arrived at the reception.
