The golden city

When Ava woke up, she was startled out of her wits.

It was morning and Logan wasn't in sight.

"Shit!" She jumped to her feet. "I overslept. The women's club must be mad at me."

As she reached out for her phone, she was surprised to see numerous text messages from the women's club, apologizing to her.

"What is this?" Ava asked, her eyes wide. "They're apologizing? What did they do?"

As she read through the messages, she learnt they were gossiping about her and her family which tethered them to apologize to her and ask for her forgiveness.

"I don't believe this," she exclaimed, ringing up her maid. "Hello, come straight to my room this instant."

As she waited, she tried clearing her head. It didn't take less than a second for the maid to appear.

"Good morning, Miss Ava," The maid greeted.

"What happened last night while I was asleep?" Ava demanded.

"Well, Mr Logan told us not to wake you as he would be representing you at your women's club meeting. He insisted you deserve to rest.
