"My uncle?" Dim-Dim asked, confused.

"Yes, your uncle in London," the woman said. "He just found out—although a little bit late—that you and Damian are now orphans. He was very surprised when he watched the news about the security breach at the Safe City New Jersey laboratory and saw your face as one of the injured victims. And according to Karina Damisch's will, you should be taken care of by your uncle, Dim-Dim. Especially if you're still underage."

"Almost orphans, you mean?" Damian protested. "We still have a father, remember?"

"Who has lost his sanity," the woman added cruelly.

"Please mind your words," Clarinassa said. "I don't want you to hurt Dim-Dim's feelings."

But the woman ignored Clarinassa. "Here's the thing. Dim-Dim deserves a better life, that is more peaceful, safer. And you're lucky because your uncle is wealthy. He has a house in Safe City in London."

Damian snorted. "We haven't even met him. How can I trust my brother to him?"

Suddenly, Dim-Dim remembered the momen

The stars shone brightly as Dim-Dim and Velicia stepped out of the Venator apartment, each wrapped in thick coats. The moonlight made everything gleam silvery, and as they nibbled on Oreos they had snatched from the refrigerator on the ground floor—which seemed to belong to Oriyan—they strolled along the sidewalk at a leisurely pace. Along the roadside, the stripes glowed with bright blue lights in the darkness."Let's just do this like this," Velicia said, licking the Oreo cream. "You don't have to turn into a horse or anything. Unless we're going far.""Okay. But I'm curious about Venator Academy," Dim-Dim said. "Damian used to study there. And after seeing Valir yesterday, I'm curious about what the school is like."Velicia shrugged. "Our schools are adjacent. But to get into Venator Academy, you have to use their student card..." Suddenly, the girl fell silent and stared mischievously at Dim-Dim. "Hey, what if we borrow Valir's student card for a moment?"Dim-Dim looked hesitant.

"Oh, wow, that was incredibly cool," Justin said, watching the video recorded by Dim-Dim's with smartwatch. "I'll definitely enroll in that school after I graduate from middle school. Modern humans clearly need that skill nowadays.""Me too," Velicia added, very excited. "Wow, it's just awesome."Edel didn't seem as excited, although she was the only one among them who could enroll in Venator in the future, considering she didn't have superpowers."So, Justin picked you up, huh?" Dim-Dim asked Edel, after transforming back into his regular form.Edel nodded. Tonight she was wearing sweet unicorn-patterned pajamas, wrapped in a warm coat. Her black hair hung over her shoulder."I sent a message to Valir. I think he'll be here in about fifteen minutes," she explained."Okay," Dim-Dim said cheerfully, eager to chat with Valir and ask him about Venator Academy."By the way, why are you staying up?" Velicia asked Edel cheerfully. "Can't you sleep?""Yeah," Edel replied. "I, uh, drank coffe

  • The Illicitor's Code #1   041: Valir's House

Unexpectedly, Valir's house turned out to be in the same housing complex as Amma's house."I have no idea your family's house was near with Oriyan's," exclaimed Dim-Dim, jumping out of the car onto the white stone-paved yard."Yeah, almost every day I see Oriyan picking up his little sister to take her to school," said Valir. "Why do you ask?""Oriyan? Do you mean Oriyan Parenzee? Which house is his?" asked Velicia, jumping out of the car and shaking her hair, then stretching her sore waist.Dim-Dim immediately pointed to a large and luxurious house that looked like a Barbie house not far from them. Velicia tied her hair for a moment and then gazed at the house."Mmm... it looks beautiful and unexpected at the same time," she said. "I suddenly wonder what makes Oriyan such a good runner."Dim-Dim laughed, but then he noticed Edel looking uncomfortable, and his laughter faded.Valir wrapped his arm around Edel's shoulder. "It's okay, you're safe with me and your friends," he said. Then

He saw Amma, looking beautiful as usual, walking with her friends and chatting loudly about cute 8th-grade boys.Dim-Dim rolled his eyes, annoyed. But his annoyance disappeared when he suddenly heard Edel's voice from behind and turned to see Edel grinning widely at him. "Hey," he greeted Edel.Edel stopped just in time before bumping into Dim-Dim and chuckled. "Hey," she replied, slightly out of breath."Your hair," Dim-Dim said, grinning. In the evening, after school, taking a short nap, and having lunch, Dim-Dim went to the Venator training building and took an empty room to try transforming into animals he saw in books. He tried everything, from laughing kookaburras, several types of snakes, to quolls. Then he noted some interesting facts about them in the notes app on his phone. He was typing, "quolls shouldn't eat cane toads (even though they might look tasty)," while sitting cross-legged on the floor, when suddenly the door to his training room opened, and Clarinassa and Damian walked in. Each with a disgruntled expression."What's your problem? Stop reporting on the performance of my team members—" Damian started, but then his eyes found Dim-Dim, and he instantly shut his mouth."Oh, turns out there's someone here," Clarinassa said, somehow looking embarrassed.Dim-Dim immediately stood up. "That's okay, I'm done here," he said. He quickly grabbed his book from the floor and glanced back at Clarinassa and Damian.

"My brother would never hurt other kids!" Damian shouted as he ran into the police station."But that's the reality," said the tall, slender male officer sitting behind the computer. "He destroyed the park and threw stones at the other kids."Honestly, Dim-Dim didn't remember that incident. He was just so lost in his anger. He remembered that the kids in the park were scared of his presence and threw pebbles at him, but he didn't remember what happened afterward."Look, we have CCTV footage as evidence," the police officer said. Then he gestured for Damian to sit in the empty chair next to him and played a video.Dim-Dim couldn't see the video because the computer was facing away from him, but he didn't care. Even so, he was somewhat taken aback when he saw Damian's facial expression.A few moments later, Oriyan entered the police station, along with Clarinassa and Charlotte."Hey, listen, he's superpowered people," Oriyan said. Edel asked Justin, with a gentle tone."I'm angry because I thought I could go to the festival outside Safe City, like other normal kids, but everything's messed up because of you!" Dear, Dim-Dim, the greatest veterinarian in the world! (if not in my heart)Right now I'm in a city that is extremely remote on the border between Malaysia and Thailand. It's nice here. The air is humid and warm. The children here are quite friendly. Currently, it's Eid, so the adults are distributing food and money. I don't have much money (I think I'm broke!) so I treated them to ice cream. Look at our photo eating ice cream, isn't it sweet? I will return to France, to work and earn money to travel the world again. But I thought I'd visit you first before becoming a corporate slave again, for motivation. See you at your clinic! With love, Velicia.PS: I attached my phone number. By the time my letter arrives, I should be in your country! The letter arrived the next day, along with a piece of paper containing a phone number and a photo of a woman with curly red hair eating ice cream with five children who appear to be locals. They looked happy, so Dim-Dim felt a little jealous.Dim-D

There was a child who brought twelve of his cats to be injected for scabies, and there was a dog that slipped from the third floor and needed immediate surgery. The dog's case was so severe that Dim-Dim had to consult with his university professor. He was in the midst of this important meeting via Skype when a wealthy man arrived with a bodyguard.Billy barged in uninvited into Dim-Dim's workspace, startling Dim-Dim and Ron, who were deeply engaged in a discussion with the university professor."What's going on? You can't just barge in like this!" protested Ron, but Billy's bodyguard immediately pushed him aside, causing Billy to cough and bow."Are you the owner of this clinic?"
