Chapter 5.

Cory remained careful and cautious as he followed the lady.

They walked into the well structured and opulent hospital. Cory's eyes widened when he saw the name of the hospital.

Lily Springs Hospital. He has only seen this hospital on the television and mostly on the news. But he has never come close, let alone walk through the door.

Lily Springs was one of the top three best hospitals in the country, and only very influential folks were admitted here.

The wealth of a person would have hit a particular mark before such would be considered worthy of being a patient here.

As they walked through the building, so many people started bowing and greeting the lady.

The gestures from the doctors and nurses got Cory even more curious about the identity of this lady he has saved.

They walked into the elevator and in no time were walking through the hallway.

The lady finally stopped at the front of a door. At the top of the door was written. VVIP ward.

The door slid open in front of her, and she walked in. Cory followed, but carefully.

Inside the VVIP ward, there was an elderly man who looked to be in his late sixties. He was seated on a couch, drinking from a glass. The content of the cup was black and thick.

Cory wanted to concentrate on the content of the glass because of how strange it looked, but he was distracted by a group of men who were standing straight across the ward.

These men looked like photocopies of the driver who had escorted him and the lady in. They all wore black suits. Thompsons.

They were not necessarily alike on facial terms, but their builds, face pattern, and composure were too aligned that they would be mistaken for bots.

"My angel." The elderly man got up on his feet as soon as he saw the lady.

This elderly man was the leader of an underground Mafia Group in the country. He was well known for how ruthless and intolerable he was! He would cut a man's head off just at the slightest mistake, as little as mixing up the shoes for each day.

Although he was ruthless and chaotic, he had a very soft spot for only one person. And because of this one person, he could bring down the whole country in the blink of an eye.

This person was no one but the beautiful lady walking into his arms at the moment. His only daughter.

His name is Theo Baster, and the name of his daughter,

"Anna." Theo hugged her warmly.

He pulled away quickly and held her up to inspect her very closely and carefully.

"Is it true? Did those scumbags come after you, really? Did they lay their wild fingers on my primrose?" His voice shook as he inspected her.

"Yes, they did, father. I was scared for my life." Anna started to cry again.

Theo felt clueless and helpless as she started crying. He hated to see her cry. He looked at that instant, and his eyes went straight to the driver.

"You worthless piece of garbage! You deserve to die! Where were you?" Theo picked up the empty glass of drink and hurled it.

His aim was so much on point that the glass broke in the face of the driver.

What was more shocking was the fact that the driver saw the glass coming but refused to avoid it.

Cory shivered where he was standing. If he was not man enough, he would be wetting his pants.

He felt like his time here was over. He should leave as soon as possible. He can't stand in the presence of Theo for too long.

Who could have imagined that the lady he saved was the daughter of a Mafia Lord?! Of course, he knows Theo. Who doesn't know the underground terror of the country?!

Blood filled the face of the driver, and pieces of glasses seeped in different corners of his face.

Cory's feet trembled heavily at the sight of blood.

At that same instance, the driver dropped on his knees and started to cry on top of his voice,

"Do not spare me, Master. I failed, my lady. Do not spare me." The driver chanted.

Cory has been standing behind the driver all along, so Theo could hardly pay attention to him. But now that the driver had fallen on his knees, Cory was left vulnerable.

Theo's gaze shifted from the bleeding driver to Cory. There were shots of blood in Theo's eyes as he gazed at Cory. His dark eyes squinted at Cory.

When Cory saw him staring directly, Cory wished the floor could open and he should disappear.

Theo started to walk towards Cory. At this moment, Cory couldn't wish for any other thing but to be invisible. He didn't know what to expect from a meeting with Theo.

Theo stopped right in front of Cory.

"And who is this little wimp?" Theo asked, his lanky body swallowing up Cory's skinny look.

"Father! Don't hurt him." Anna suddenly called.

Cory couldn't be more grateful. He was already about to pass out from standing too close to Theo.

Theo took a glance at his daughter and then stared directly into Cory's eyes. Cory couldn't look him directly in the eyes.

"Who are you?" Theo demanded, his tone fiercer on every syllable.

Cory began to stutter. He couldn't even think of a coherent reply.

"I -I -"

"He was the one who sav---" Anna was cut off by a loud cough.

Anna had wanted to answer the question for Cory, but she started to cough heavily. She was coughing with all her strength.

Theo turned away from Cory instantly and hurried to Anna. The tough and scary Theo was now very frightened and worried to the bones.

"Anna. Did it start again?" Theo held her, helping to the bed in sight.

Anna continued to cough uncontrollably until she spat out a thick ball of black substance.

Theo was frightened to the bones. He was so shocked and scared that he almost fell away.

"You bastards!!! Call the doctor now!!!" Theo yelled with all his strength.

All the henchmen scattered around, running about like loose dogs!!!

In the midst of these, Cory just stood there groundless, watching as the actions fleet right before his eyes.

Suddenly, the virtual interface appeared in his mind.
