Chapter 77

Cory stood there, the whip still in his grip. There was blood in his hand. The blades of the whip had cut his palm almost into shreds, yet he didn't let go of it.

Anna had scurried to him, holding on to him and calling at him, tears in her eyes. She was scared that he was hurt badly because she also saw what had almost happened to him.

Cory remained in that position, staring at the monks. He had a couple of things racing across his mind.

The monks deliberately wanted to kill him because he knew something about them. The monks knew that he was perceptive and was finding their actions shady. The monks knew that much.

This was why they had tried to frame him by claiming that the evil spirit from the dead lad had possessed Cory. If Cory's instinct and reflex had not been sharpened by the system, he probably would be lying dead at the moment.
