Cory stopped when he got to the doctor. The doctor's hand was still shaking from the shock that came with the interruption.

When a sudden voice had yelled, "Enough!", the doctor had thought that it was Theo. But now, seeing this scrawny youth standing in front of him, the doctor flared up in utmost rage.

"Who is this wayward lad, and when he did walk into the ward?" The doctor bellowed, glaring at Cory.

Cory was not bothered. His face looked unusually calm. It was as though he was a new person. It was hard to tell what had gotten over him.

"Where did you come from, and how the hell did you find yourself here? Did you know what you just caused? You just made me cut Miss Anna with the needle." The doctor yelled even harder at Cory.

The more the doctor yelled at Cory, the more he wished that Theo would say something. The doctor had intentionally mentioned the cut on Anna's arm to further infuriate Theo and get him to act.

It worked. Theo's eyes kindled rage when he saw the scratch on the arm of his only daughter. There was a tiny lace of blood on Anna's arm.

At the sight of blood, Theo almost lost his mind.

"Bring him here!!!" Theo ordered at once.

The henchmen hurried towards Cory to forcefully take him to their master.

"Hold on!" Cory lifted one of his hands to stop the henchmen.

The henchmen stopped in their tracks. Not because Cory had asked them to, but because of the boldness and guts of Cory.

Cory, this scrawny lad was standing in the presence of the great and mighty Theo. Yet he doesn't feel any sense of fear. Instead, he was standing with his head high in the cloud, commanding the henchmen to stop coming at him!

Theo himself was intrigued by the effontery of this strange lad. He couldn't react at once per se, so he just stared at Cory.

"It would be unwise to do this now. We should all be worried about the well-being of Anna." Cory answered casually, not a string of worry or stress found on his face.

"How dare you little shit curse at the lord?! Did you just say unwise?!!" One of the henchmen lost his cool at once.

He stomped towards Cory.

"Enough." Theo suddenly snapped at the man.

Theo got up from where he was seated and took two bold steps forward.

"Let's see what he has to offer." Theo decided to indulge Cory.

When Cory heard this, he sighed in relief, but he didn't let any of them notice. Although he felt confident on the surface, deep inside, he couldn't tell why he was willingly pushing himself into a pool of lava.

"What do you say is wrong with my daughter?" Theo asked, staring keenly at Cory.

Cory cleared his throat and moved even closer to the lady in bed.

"She has been poisoned." Cory said softly yet with less emphasis. He sounded very confident.

"What!!!" Anna exclaimed, sitting up.

She had been quiet all along, trying to figure out what Cory was up to.

"What the hell are you talking about?" The head doctor suddenly snapped at Cory.

The head doctor was trying to protect his status. He was one of the best doctors in the field who had bagged a PhD. and won several other medically inclined awards. He wouldn't let himself be outshined by this scrawny and mischievous lad that came from God knows where.

"What did you say happen to her? Poison? What do you think we are? Jokes, to you? Have I not diagnosed my patient and concluded that she is suffering from asthma? Where do you think you are that you can let your intrusive thoughts win?" The doctor looked really offended as he scolded Cory.

The doctor turned to look at Theo.

"I think I know what the problem of this mischievous lad is. He is one of the admirers of Miss Anna, so he is doing all his best to impress her." The doctor explained to Theo.

Theo's gaze shifted from the doctor to Cory.

"Is that so?" Theo directly asked Cory.

Cory should answer the question, but he didn't. Instead, he walked to the bedhead and took the small plastic bowl where Anna had spat the black substance after the violent cough.

Everyone was stunned by how brazen this lad is! How dare he ignore the word of their lord and casually walk around?

"You are a prestigious doctor who swore to live by the oath of the medical system. Answer me in all sincerity. Have you ever had an asthmatic patient who coughed such substance before?" Cory asked the doctor.

The doctor felt cornered by Cory's question. He couldn't have imagined that this hopeless lad would ask him such a challenging question.

"This crazy lad! Why should I answer your question?" The doctor put up a defense.

Then the doctor realised that Theo, Anna, and the rest of the people were now staring at him. They wanted an explanation for what Cory had just asked him.

"Lord Theo. You are not taking this lad seriously, are you? He is only trying to sound intelligent. He is doing this to avoid death. Kick him out right now and let me save Miss Anna. We can't afford to let her health get complicated because of a nonentity." The doctor pleaded evenly.

When the doctor stopped talking, the whole room was silent. Everyone was expecting what Theo would say, yet none of them was bold enough to look at him directly.

Theo's gaze shifted from the doctor was about to piss his pants from the long stare. He stared at his daughter for a while.

Then he looked straight to Cory, who still looked quite unbothered.

"Get to work." Theo said to Cory.

The doctor gasped when he heard this. Even Anna was a little shocked to see her father take such a decision. But since she had seen Cory fight off so many men without breaking a sweat, she thought perhaps he was a mysterious powerful man living low-key.

So she wanted to give him a try, too.

"Lord Thoe, you will let this opportunist take advantage of our lovely Miss Anna, will y--"

"Shut your mouth before I break your jaws into pieces!!!" One of the henchmen snapped at the doctor, and the latter cowered.

Without giving any response, Cory walked closer to the bed.

"Sleep on your back, your face to the ceiling." Cory instructed Anna.

Anna did just as told. Theo and the doctor followed the scene carefully with their hunting eyes.

Then Cory stood up tall again after inspecting the eyes of Anna. He looked directly at Theo first but then changed his mind and gazed at Anna. Their eyes met.

"Close your eyes." He told her. Anna slowly shut her eyes.

After she closed her eyes, Cory slowly looked down at her chest. He saw the cleavages heaving. The swell of her breasts made he gulp.

Then he slowly brought his hand down on her breast.

I was right, Lord Theo. He only wanted to take advantage of her!" The doctor stamped, his honor and ego returning. "Do not spare him, Lord Theo. He has slapped you across the face. Following the fatal fate of the former driver of Anna, a new man had been assigned to drive her. She was not alone in the backseat of the car. Next to her was Cory. Cory couldn't have said no to her after she gave him such a face. He didn't want to look or sound mean. While the car rode through the road, Cory was looking in the other direction. Although he could not see anything through the window since the car was tinted, yet he pretended like he was. He could feel the heat from Anna's eyes heating up the side of his face. She was constantly looking at him. Anna wanted to start a conversation, but she was a little bit reluctant. There were a couple of things she could talk about following everything that had happened, but she didn't want to offend Cory. She was indebted to him for saving her life. "Where are you headed?" Anna finally found something. Cory slowly turned to look at her. "Oh, right. I'm headed to Shelton University." Cory replied. He was about to look away from

Cory was speechless when Anna did this. He understood that he had been kind to her and had saved her life, but what was this about? Although he respects her father and would never want to have any problem with the Great Theo, yet he wouldn't allow someone to take advantage of him. Looking at her face, he saw her looking very cute, her eyes were like puppy's eyes. That was the same face she had made when she had asked to drive him to school. There was something very tempting about that face of hers that he couldn't ignore. Realising that it was no use trying to get her off himself, he looked back at Sheiley and Harry. Harry looked quite shocked when he saw this beautiful and overly gorgeous lady. Although Sheiley was pretty and was an embodiment of beauty, her charm was nothing compared to Anna's. Comparing Sheiley to Anna was just like comparing the wings of a hen to that of a bald eagle. Miles apart. Harry was swept off his feet by the beauty that was standing in front of him.

It was quite obvious what Anna was trying to do. She was trying to stake a claim. The claim was that she wanted to prove openly that Cory was her boyfriend."Anna!" Cory could not take it anymore. He has been quiet all along because he understood what she was trying to do, but now he was clueless. He wouldn't let her drag him into something that he might regret later. "Come with me." He held her by the wrist and led her away from Sheiley and Harry. "What's all this about?" He asked, finally letting go of her. They were about a couple of distance away from the couple."I don't know what this feeling is, Cory." Anna answered, staring him in the eyes. "But I put my trust in you. I believe that you have the potential to become a great person if you allow yourself to break out of the barrier of the mind." Anna said. Cory didn't know what to say to this. He had asked her an entirely different question, and she was saying something else. "Okay. Thank you." Cory nodded firmly, not will

A call that could change everything for the worst. He immediately tried to call his father back, but the call did not go through. His father had just called him to warn him to escape. The only reasonable explanation that his father gave to him was just about six words. "Lord Theo will not spare us." The words were still fresh in his mind. His heart started to drum emphatically. It would seem as though his heart would pop out, tearing out of the chest. He knew who Lord Theo was. Lord Theo was like a nightmare to any businessman in the country. No one dared to cross his path. To Cory, it seemed as though the more moments he spent with Anna, the more she tried to confuse him. For a split second, he could have thought she was trying to pull a prank on him, but looking at how serious and intentional her facial expression was, he realised that she meant every word she had just said. "Although you were able to detect the poison, how can we guarantee that I will be really safe henceforth?" Anna asked. "What do you mean?" Cory was trying not to miss the point that she was trying to stress. "My father owns so many thugs. In short, he owns a myriad of them. Yet the multitude of thugs he has couldn't protect me from the poison. Even I didn't know how I could have been poisoned, let alone the thugs." She went silent for quite a while. "You are the only one who found out about it. If I have you around me all the time, then I won't have to worry about my safety. Because..." She lowered her voice as she walked closer to him. She didn't want her driver to hear what

His call kicked Cory out of the wandering thoughts. This time, when he gazed closely, he realized that there was a hue of brilliance that encircled the strange man. The man was dressed like emperors from the classic Chinese kingdoms. His face shone almost like the sun. Everything about the man screamed extraordinary. It would seem as though she was not even there. "Are you not going to explain it to me?" She asked him eventually. Cory still would not look at her. She wished that she would be able to choose her feelings, but she couldn't. There was a great measure of disappointment in what she was feeling at that moment. And there was something else, too. Something which she couldn't really reach. She wanted to sigh, but because she was huffing and puffing, she was even having a hard time catching her breath. "Answer my question, father." She slowly opened her eyes again, confiding in the act of precision and timing. Yet the feeling lingered. The fatigued remained. If there was anything, it even became heavier. She tried to roll in bed to the other side, but she felt extremely weak. She had no idea what was happening to her. Rolling on her stomach, she tried to heave her body to a comfortable position, but nothing seemed to work for her. She fell back on her face in bed and started to grunt. Chapter 258

Linda and her father were as still as a hill. They couldn't even make a sound. They couldn't see each other. Talking about seeing, Linda's eyes were drooping over her breasts at this point. It seemed as though the poison continued to lower the thread of the eyes down and down until perhaps it would get to the soles of her legs. This really didn't matter to her yet because the room was too dark for either of them to see each other. Before they were looked inside this room by the two hefty henchmen, they had seen clearly that it was super bright outside. It was noon. How come when they were locked in here, it was extremely dark? They had not been taken to an underground location. In fact, the underground location they had just come from was well lit and brighter than this. Although she couldn't use her eyes well, Linda could still tell this much that this was a very dark room. "Why is it so dark in here?" She asked her father, looking in the only direction she could afford. Down.
