Chapter 12

Nelson looked at his brother. He knew that he was not joking around. He really could make his life hell. their parents. . no. . . their father and his mother. . . the both of them doted on him. He could do anything and get away with it. And his parents tended to believe him whatever he said. He could do nothing against him. Maybe it was because Lander was the legitimate son and he was the illegitimate child? He remembered what Lander had said to him one day. The only way that an illegitimate child could survive in a family like this was by not knowing anything. He should not do anything. . . he should not know anything. . . that was the only way that he was going to survive.

Sometimes Nelson really wanted to hate his mother for abandoning him in this family. He really did not want any of this. He did not want to be son of a rich family. He did not want to walk around in eggshells. He just wanted to have a peaceful life with his mother. But whenever he thought about the way he was treated. . . he felt like it was good thing that his mother left. She would have been treated worse by Rita if she was around. Besides. . . it was not her fault. No matter what anyone said about his mom. . . he knew that it was not the truth. She did not seduce a married man. . . she was tricked by a married man. . . . . .

Nelson nodded his head. He had already decided since a long time ago. He was going to take that advice. He was going to live his life without knowing anything. . . the only thing that he wanted was for Lander to not go to Viants High. He felt like his life was going to come crashing down if this person went to Viants High. He had to do everything possible to stop him from going. There were other schools around. . . why on Earth does it have to be Viants High?

"I get you. There is nothing going on. You came back because you wanted to come back. I was really stupid back then. . . . I guess it's because I haven't seen you for long time so I got excited for a bit. . . " Nelson said and smiled. He was trying to butter him up. . . he really did not want Lander in Viants High. His life was going to be over then! "I'm not going to ask anything more. I'm not going to make anyone suspect you. . . so can you please do something for me instead? I really need a favour for you" Nelson said. He was practically begging now.

Lander snorted. In his mind he had already decided that he was not going to do anything that that person asked him to do. He just wanted to humour himself. Hear him out and then make fun of him! Lander curled his mouth in a smile. It was going to be very satisfying to do that to this person. He really hated Nelson. In his mind. . . Nelson was already his competitor. It did not matter if he did want to compete with him or not. . . their family was such that he could not make a choice. If his father suddenly changed his mind about him let him have a good amount of their company shares. . . then it was going to be difficult for him to take over the company.

"Yes. . . what do you want me to do for you? You know. . . you really should be like this all the time. You should know how to be humble in front of me. Even if you are the second son of DODO group in the eyes of other people in the end you are still an illegitimate son who was abandoned by his mother! You will have to depend on me to survive in the future!" Lander said. He did not forget to make fun of him and rub in his wounds.

Nelson was hurt. Lander could say whatever he wanted to him but did he have to bring in his mother? Sometimes when he got really emotional he would think about hating his mother for leaving but the truth was that he did not really blame her. She was just a young woman who had been tricked by a married man. She also had her own life to live as well.

Even though he was hurt. . . even though he really wanted to punch Lander for making fun of his mother like this. . . he held himself back. As long as he can get Lander to agree not to go then it was worth it. He can put up with whatever insults he threw at him. "I have something really important to ask you. Can you. . . please not go? I know that Dad wants you to go to Viants High. . . but if you say that you are not going to go then he won't force you. Please don't go. . . you can go to other prestigious schools around. . . you really don't have to go to Viants High. It doesn't have to be Viants High" Nelson pleaded with him.

Lander burst out laughing. He really was not expecting something like this. He should not to to Viants High? Like he was ever going to listen to such a stupid request! He wanted to turn him down immediately but he felt like there was something else to all of this. He wanted to know the reason why Nelson did not want him to go to Viants High. Who knows? Maybe if he can find out something bad about Nelson. . . his father was going to hate him more and more. . then he won't even have stand a chance against him in the company!

Lander looked at Nelson. There was a mocking expression in his eyes. But still he did not turn him down. He still had to find out what this was all about. "You want me to not go to Viants High? Well I guess that if I probably tell Dad that I'm not going to go he won't make me go then. But. . . why do I have to do something like this for you? Is there something going on in Viants High that you don't want us to know about? Did you cause some kind of trouble in school?" Lander asked him. He added the part about being able to convince his dad so that Nelson would feel the full impact when he rejected him.

Nelson put his eyes down. Something kept telling him that he should just stop all of this. That this person was not going to help him. He just wanted to play around with him. After all, why would he do that? Lander had always seem him as a threat. He wanted to compete with him in everything. Going to the same school with him might just be the perfect opportunity to prove to their father that he was better than him. . . something kept telling that he should stop now.

But he did not stop. Actually the truth was that. . . he had something that he wanted to hide. Also someone that he wanted to protect. He knew that once Lander goes to Viants High. . . he was going to figure it out. And then. . . . he was going to bother that person. He did not want that to happen to her. . . . so even though Lander was trampling all over his pride. . . he still wanted to beg him. . . for the sake of that person.

"Lander. . . actually the truth is. . it's something that I cannot tell you about. But it's really important to me. Please Lander. . . I am begging you right now. Just consider it as your younger brother asking for a favour from you. It's just as you said. . . . dad. . he will let you off if you ask him. . . so please do this for me. I really don't have a choice. . . I can only neg you like this. Please help me out Lander. Or you can just consider it that I owe you a debt. I'm going to pay back one day. Help me Lander" Nelson said. He felt that if he told Lander that he owed him. . . he would be motivated to do it.

Anyone would have given in to Nelson immediately they heard his voice. He sounded so pitiful. . . well anyone but Lander. Brother? As if! He really hated him! This person was going to become his competition sooner or later! He had to make sure that he won't ever be able to compete with him for the company. So why would he give you such a good opportunity? Seeing the way that he was willing to beg him. . . he was sure that there really was something that was going on. He was more than excited to go to Viants High now!

He laughed in Nelson's face. "Do you really think that I am going to help you out with something like that Nelson? Why should I not go to Viants High? What the hell are you trying to hide in that school?! Don't worry. . . don't tell me. I'm going to find out what you are hiding yourself!" Lander said. He was really very Happy. This idiot just gave himself away now! He did not think much about going to Viants High but after what happened today. . nothing was going to stop him from going now! He turned and walked out of the room.

Nelson sighed. He had been thinking too much. Why did he ever think that this person was going to help him? The two of them were meant to be competitors. He did not want that. And he had already decided that he was not going to have anything to do with the company. If he could. . . he wanted to give away his shares! But Lander did not think this way. He thought that he was after what belonged to him. And so. . he hated him. What could he do? He only only make a small prayer for Lily. Will he even be able to protect her now?

Lander was still grinning when he walked out of Nelson's room. That idiot just gave him something fun to do. Once he gets to that school. . . he is going to make sure that he finds out just what this little brother of his was hiding. When he got to his room. . . he saw his mother just outside his door. . . waiting for him. He did not let her know that he was going to see Nelson and so when he walked up to her she quickly grabbed his arm. "Where have you been Lander? Come there is something that I need to talk to you about!" She said.

Lander smiled. He knew exactly what his mother wanted to talk to him about. The both of them were birds of a feather after all. Even though she was able to get his father to bring him back. . . . she was worried that there were some loose ends and that Nelson heard something. He had to calm his mother down. "Mom. . . don't worry. I already talked to Nelson. I don't think he knows anything" if he knew. . . he would have probably threatened him to get what he wants. "But. . I found out something interesting. He did not want me to go to Viants High. Mom. . . I think Nelson is hiding something. We have to find out what it is" Lander said.

Vivian was surprised. Nelson was hiding something? He did not want Lander to go to Viants high?! Hmph! The boy was just as scheming as his mother! But she was able to get Anita to abandon him and never show up in front of him again so this should be something that she can handle. DODO group belongs to her son! She won't let Nelson take it away from her son. Over the years. . . she had made sure to tell her husband bad things about Nelson to make him hate him. . but still. . . he was still his son. . he still had his name in his will did he not? But now. . . if they could just find out what Nelson was hiding. . . . ! Vivian turned to her son.

"Lander. . . you have to find out what Nelson is hiding! Once we have his weakness. . . he won't be able to do anything to you anymore" Vivian said.
