Chapter 13 - A Taste of Madness

"We found her" the person said over the phone. Mike stood up immediately. He could not believe what he just heard. They found her? They really did find her? After waiting for so long is he about go get a positive response? Before he could say anything else, the person on the other end of the phone gave him the information that he wanted.

"We spotted her in a drug store. I'm going to send you an address right now. You have to hurry. We can't hold her up here for long" The person said.

Mike immediately understood. That was enough for him. They did not have to try and hold her back for long. He would be there soon. He picked up a coat and opened his room door to go out. Standing outside, was his step mother Vanessa.

Mike rolled his eyes. Why won't this woman just stop bothering him? What does she really want from him? He was prepared to ignore her and just go on his way but her sharp voice stopped him.

"I came because I had something that I want to talk to you about. Even if you have somewhere to be, you should at least listen to me first. Can't you give me a few minutes?" Vanessa asked.

Mike turned to look at her. He was suddenly suspicious. He knew that this woman was extremely cunning. Could it be that she already knows about what he has been doing and he wants to stop her now? He really can't put something like that far from this woman. She really is something. "Give you a few minutes? You already took everything when you moved into this house. Do you really think that there is something that I can give you?" Mike asked. Saying that, Mike walked away from her. Even if he did not have somewhere to be right now, he definitely won't waste time talking with this woman!

Vanessa whatched as Mike walked away. She sighed. No matter what she did, it seems that this kid won't be opening up to her. She is not a good person, that much she knows. But at least she has always known that she was sincere to Mike. Seeing him, she was reminded of her son. He should be as tall as Mike now right? She already lost the rights to be a mother to him since a long time ago, so she should do a good job being a mother to Mike. She took the place of his mother, so she should be able to raise her son well right?

But when has something like that ever been easy? For Mike, Vanessa will always be the representation of evil. Even though he knew that his parents weren't happy with each other, they were still together before she showed up. At least they were a family. Maybe if his mother had left on her own Mike won't hate Vanessa so much. But this woman actually made his mother leave. She forced her to leave! How can he forgive something like that?

Bella stood by her mother. She was coughing so much. Bella was starting to get worried. Since she had been busy with her schoolwork, she did not have time to pay attention to her mother's condition, but now that she was home with her most of the time she could see that she was not well. It was probably because she was thinking about that divorce too much. Why can't her mother just let something like this go? He already left her, she should focus on her life. Looking at her mother in such a pitiful state, Bella could not help getting angry.

"Mom, just look at your condition! Do you like seeing yourself in such a a state? You are getting worse every single day! And what's more, you won't even go to the hospital! What is wrong with you really? I know that all of this is because of tht divorce! Just because you and Dad are no longer together does this mean that you can no longer move on with your life?!" Bella asked her mother. Because she was really angry, her tone was harsher than before.

Margaret looked at her daughter. She was going to say something but was but with fits of coughing again. She shook her head. Her daughter just could not understand. It wasn't as if she did not want to go to the hospital, she just did not want Bella to be traumatized by it. If she knows then, and as for her divorce, would Bella even believe her if she told her that she already let it go? Can she herself even believe something like that? "Bella, you, what happened between your father and i, I want you to know that it has nothing to do with you. You don't have to get involved. No matter what happens, you are still his daughter. Don't ever forget about that" Margaret said. She did not want her daughter to hate her father. She did not want her to hate anybody at all. She was already like this, hate should be the last thing that is on her mind. Margaret has heard that the woman Philip married has a daughter about Bella's age. Won't she be needing their help soon? Hate that should be the last thing on her mind. . .

Bella scoffed. She just did not understand her mother at all. What is going on with this woman? She should not hate her father? How can she tell her not to hate that man? For one thing he is the reason why her mother is in such a terrible situation! She could try her best to understand about the divorce, things happen, but how can someone who calls himself her father not come to see her once after the divorce? She was so stupid that she tried to contact him for the first two months, now Bella knew that she should not be wasting her time on things like that! "Not hate him mom? How can someone like that even be classified as a father? How can he not come see his child once?!" Bella yelled. Not get involved?! As if! She is their daughter! How can he abandon her like this?!

Margaret wanted to say something in support of Philip but she ended up coughing more and more again. She could not say what she wanted to say.

"Just wait here mom. I'll go get you some cough medicine from the drug store across the street!" Bella said and left the house. Damn! Her mother is so annoying!

Margaret sighed when she saw Bella walk out of the house. She sighed in relief. She could finally let it all out now. She started coughing again, but it was much more serious than when Bella was around. She quickly covered her mouth with the handkerchief beside her. When she was done, she looked at it. It was filled with blood. Margaret sighed. She thought of Bella. The girl is way too stubborn. She did not want her to live like that. It would only make things hard for herself. She also did not want her to hate. What's there to hate? It already happened. Margaret only already realized it now, hating someone sure did take a lot of efforts.

Bella was already done buying the drugs and she was going home when she bumped into someone. It was Nelson! Bella was shocked to see him. What is he doing here? She knew that he won't let her off easily. Because of what happened on the last day of school, his father was called. For some reason, Nelson seemed to fear his father a lot. And besides he is a crazy physco who enjoys bullying girls!

Since she was the one who bumped into him, Bella immediately apologised. "I'm really sorry for bumping into you. I was in a hurry" Bella said.

But Nelson was not thinking about letting her go at all! After all she is the reason he got into trouble with his father. Does she know what he had to endure? "What? Sorry? Do you really think that I should let you go? Why should I do that! Do you know how many things I suffered because of you?!" Nelson asked. He got into trouble because of her. Even if she did not do anything to him, as long as he saw her here, he would definitely try to make things hard for her!

Bella sighed. She could see where he was going with this conversation. Apparently, he is still angry because of what happened that day. But he is the one who caused everything! If he had just left her alone then perhaps their parents would not have been called! "What? I already know that you are a physco who likes to bully girls but I really did not think that you are so petty! You are still holding on to that? Let's be sincere now. You can't blame me for what happened! You are the one who wouldn't stop bothering me!" Bella said.

Nelson glared at her. So what if he is the one that started it? Couldn't she have just kept her mouth shut? Did she have to make a scene and make the teacher notice them? Who does she think she is? He has had to suffer so much because of her! "And so what if I started it? You should be thankful that I am bothering you! Did you have to cause a scene and make the teacher know what is going on? Do you even know what I have had to suffer and endure through because of you!" Nelson roared at her.

Bella looked at Nelson. Now she was sure that there was something wrong with him. He must be a physcopath who escaped from the hospital! That is the only explanation for this nonsense! She should have kept quiet and endured his bullying. "First of all, what happened to you after that is none of my business. And do you even hear yourself right now? I should be thankful that you are bothering me? Are you saying that I should have just let you bully me! Tell me something, you are actually crazy right? Only a crazy person will think things like this!" Bella said.

Nelson inched closer to her. He had to admit that he had never met a girl as annoying as her! Does she not know how to shut her mouth up?! Is she calling him crazy right now? Who does she think that she is?! "Who do you think that you are calling crazy? You really think that. you are something don't you Bella? Let me tell you I have no intentions of letting you go today. You will have to pay for everything that you have done to me! Getting me into trouble and bumping into me today!" Nelson said.

Bella sighed. It seemed as if it was getting more and more serious. What happened that day at school was completely his fault! He brought that upon himself! And as for bumping into him today she already apologized to him! Why won't he leave her alone? What does he want?! "You, you are really crazy don't you? Go and see a therapist! You really need to have your mind checked! You don't need to be ashamed of your confined. There are many people like you out there. So take my advice and get help!" Bella yelled. What does he think that he is doing?

Nelson was really angry now. "Alright, since you say that I am crazy I am just going to give you a taste of madness!" Nelson said. He grabbed her and and tried to pull her away.

Bella was shocked. She really did not think that he would try to do something like this. She looked around, it was already dark and not many people were around. What will this crazy person try to do to her? She tried to wriggle free but she was much more stronger so she brought her face down and bit him hard!
