Liam let out all the pent-up frustration in him through tears. He wept bitterly as he stared at the doctor rolling the stretcher and taking his dead twin to the morgue.

He couldn't believe Emily was dead, after the way she had suffered for years. She was very kind-hearted and cared about him a lot. Put her feelings before his. She was the only human who didn't resent him and now she was gone because he was incapable of raising the money for her heart transplant.

Liam felt his knees give out underneath him as he bawled, not even paying any attention to the people who walked by and cast him weird and pitiful glances.

Liam buried Emily the following evening. There was no point letting her stay in the morgue, it reminded him of how impecunious he was. If he had money like men of his age, Emily wouldn't have died. Neither would he have been tricked the entire time, when he should have been by Emily's side and watching her take her last breath. To think she had died alone in her ward was heart-wrenching to Liam.

Now Emily was covered in mud with the cemented headstone, 'Farewell Emily Catherine Laurent, 1997 - 2022,'.

He was done with the tears, they didn't matter anymore. No amount of tears would bring Emily back. She was gone.

With a heavy heart, Liam finally left Emily's grave.

He was on his way to the Brewers when he saw someone that bore a striking resemblance to Chloe, making her way into an expensive boutique. And when he spotted Valente, his thoughts were confirmed right.

Liam stood a few meters away from the glass walls of the boutique, as he watched Chloe gushing at the sight of elegant dresses. Whilst Valente stood back with a smug smirk on his face.

Liam had never seen Chloe that elated before, it was obvious she valued money and materialistic things more than genuine love.

"If it isn't the pauper we have here," a feminine voice taunted and Liam stared ahead of him, only to see Chloe and Valante, staring at him with mockery.

"I heard your sister's dead," Chloe handed her shopping bags to the bodyguard beside her, "please accept my condolences," and with that, she gave him the finger.

Liam didn't respond, he just looked from Chloe to Valente and Valente back to Chloe, then he made to side-stepped them but he was stopped.

"Not so fast, Liam shit-face," Valente had his hand on Liam's shoulder.

Liam was in no mood for this, he just buried his sister and he needed to go somewhere to clear his head.

"What do you want from me?" Liam growled.

"You're that much of a stalker, huh?" Valente unbuttoned his suit jacket and put his hands on his waist, "how'd you know Chloe is here?"

Liam just pushed the man aside and started walking away, when Valente hauled this insult at him, "You look ugly today, as always."

"That's because I knew I would run into you. I wanted to look like you," Liam fired back and there were gasps, mostly from Chloe.

Valente went lunging at him with a punch but Liam just dodged and pushed him aside.

"You shit-bag, fight me," Valente was cocking his fists once more.

"That would be animal abuse," Liam gritted out with clenched fists.

"At least I am better than you are, you'd always remain poor." Valente insulted but Liam just ignored him.

He found his way to the Brewers that evening.

"Why are you here? You've been fired and another gardener has replaced you," Mr. Brewer snarled at him.

"Sounds like something you would do without my knowledge, but I'm here for my pay," Liam was a bit confident of himself. He had lost Emily, he wasn't afraid of anything or anyone.

"I owe you nothing, Reek," Mr. Brewer growled from where he was seated in his study.

"You owe my salary, sir." Liam said.

"Well, I've chosen to not pay you since I no longer need your services, hm?" Mr. Brewer raised his eyes at Liam and chuckled to himself.

"I worked for you. I ought to be paid and be out of your hair for good," Liam was tired, he wanted his money since he was penniless.

"You wanted to have my daughter jump out through her window."

"That is not true."

"And you stole from my son."

"You know how your children do not tell the truth."

"How dare you accuse my children? They are your masters."

This sliced through Liam and he held his eyes tightly for a few seconds before opening them.

"What the hell are you doing, Reek?" Mr. Brewer had fear flashing through his eyes when Liam went to his side and pulled him up through his collars.

"I am not leaving until you pay what you owe!" Liam yelled into the face of the frightened-looking man.

"Guards!" Mr. Brewer shouted and this time Liam fled. He wanted to save his head from beatings.

Whilst running, Liam was being followed by a black car with tinted glasses. He thought it was Mr. Brewer's men so he changed direction and ran as fast as his legs could carry him. He had been doing a lot of running since two days ago.

Finally, he was standing in the highway. He took a peek down and gulped because cars were moving and the thought that went to his mind was suicide.

"What's left to live? Emily's dead and I am useless. Everyone hates me. The world sucks!" Liam spat and wiped his mouth with the back of his palm, "I never should have been born. Dying is the only alternative I have left. I can't do this shit anymore!"

Liam heard the sound of footsteps running in his direction but he didn't even bother to look.

He threw his head back and let out a harsh bark of laughter, "I'm gonna put an end to my misery, tonight and then the world can fuck itself."

Just as he was about jumping down, a pair of hands pulled him backward.

"What the fuck?" He snapped upon turning around and seeing a middle-aged man, "who the heck are you?"

"You cannot kill yourself, young Master Liam," the man was out of breath as he said this, "I ran all the way here to catch up with you."

"Why?" Liam pushed the man away from him.

"Your father left his inheritance for you before his death, he was on his sick bed when he told me to find you and your sister."

"What?" Liam thought he had misheard the man.

"He left some billions of dollars for you and your sister. Including his companies and most prized possessions," the unknown man dropped this bombshell.

Liam froze.

She was in her office and Liam just bursted in without even knocking."We did genetic testing and it turns out that he's truly mine," he told the truth at last and fist-pumped the air in excitement."That's great news, Liam. Congratulations," Avery offered Liam a genuine smile but she still remained in her sitting position."It's still incredulous that I have a son," Liam put his hands on his waist and stared at the ceiling."It feels surreal, right?" Avery asked."He was so tiny that I was afraid he'd fall from my arms," Liam blurted out."And the mother, how is she?" Avery swiftly changed the topic."Chloe is still on treatment, she delivered the child through CS," Liam informed her."She needs a lot of rest, it wasn't easy at all," Avery finally left her seat and went to stand beside Liam."I wish it wasn't her but

It's all my fault," She apologized when Liam finally cut off the last of the ropes, and it was obvious that she felt guilty over luring him there."No, don't apologize. Nothing is your fault," Liam didn't mind. At that moment

He even ignored her when she called out to him, and it was rather strange. She was about to hop into her car to trail after him when she saw Gibson, the traitor approaching her."Hello there, Avery Duffer," Gibson offered her a little smile as he stopped in front of her and put his hands right behind him.Avery waited for Liam to drive off before she turned to Gibson."You," she sneered at him."Come on now, you can't say you hate me because of what happened," Gibson cast her an innocent look."Your audacity is stinky, sir," Avery insulted, with her eyes showing him how much she was upset with him.And the man chuckled, clearly amused by the way she just spoke to him."How dare you show up here and act like it's not a big deal to betray Liam?" Avery gritted out as she covered the distance between them. He was taller, old enou
