5: A Billionaire Overnight (I)

Liam let out a sigh as he rolled to the other side of the bed. He couldn't remember enjoying sleep that much. It was as if he was floating on the cosmos because the bed was so big, wide, and comforting to his nerves.

The rays of the sunlight flashed in through the window, and it made Liam's eyes flickered open, before widening them in absolute confusion because he didn't know how he got there.

He was on a king-sized bed with fluffy pillows that were rendering some sort of comfort to his body. But he had a migraine which he had sustained the previous night.

Liam's jaw dropped and he blinked thrice upon taking his first view of the room which was absolutely magnificent in description.

It was a superior room. Even bigger than his cramped apartment, combining his room, restroom, kitchen, and balcony.

The ceiling was coved. The first two high walls were painted with white and gold, and the second walls were jaw-droppingly made of glass that Liam could see the outside view and came to realize that this place was on the beach.

Liam blinked some more as he looked around the rest of the room. Classic figurines, expensive furniture, and marble floor. eye-catching portrait, a stack of books on a small shelf.

"Is this real, or I died and went to heaven?" Liam asked himself after taking the burnt orange sheet covers off him. He was even wearing a white pajamas. For a moment, he forgot about his migraine.

On the balcony lay a glass table with some magazines, a pair of shades, and a basket of fruit.

Liam went to the wide sliding glass doors that allow in plenty of natural light.

On his left was a spacious walk-in closet, an additional work area with free internet access, a large marble bathroom with a separate shower and bathtub, a bathrobe, and a pair of comfy flip-flops.

Liam slid the glass door open and made his way out to the balcony, where he saw a garden with a pool next to it.

It felt like a dream to him, at the uniqueness and tranquility of such a place. The sight was way too breathtaking that he fought against the urge to breathe properly. Because it never crossed his mind that he would be in such a place one day.

"Master!" A masculine voice called out and Liam was forced to snap his head in the direction where he'd heard the voice from. Only to see a man in a suit, with five servants standing behind him. He looked strangely familiar.

The man dashed towards Liam, including the servants, "Oh, you're awake," they bowed and Liam whirled around to see if anyone was right behind him but he found no one.

"There's got to be some confusion here," Liam said quickly, "how did I get here?"

"You really do not remember?"

"No, who are you?"

"Gibson, Master Liam. You were drunk yesterday and I brought you here."

At this point, something flashed through Liam's mind and he could remember everything.

Him weeping as he put Emily's cold, pale, and lifeless body into her coffin and then hiring a car to take her coffin to the cemetery, where he buried her. And then he ran into Chloe and the man she left him for. Then there was Mr. Brewer who refused to give him his pay. Liam remembered this all, including the part where he got drunk at a pub and ran away because he had no money to pay. He tried to jump down a highway to end his misery, but someone stopped him and then he vomited and passed out.

"Judging from the look on your face, you've remembered everything, young master," Gibson said.

"Why did you bring me here? And why do you keep calling me young master?" Liam inquired as he put his hands on his waist.

Gibson dismissed the rest of the servants before turning to Liam.

"Your father sent me," the man provided.

"I do not have a father. The one whom I thought was him is in prison. He stole and he was arrested. One shitty ass man of a person. My sister and I were young, but we saw what he did to our mom."

"Your father died two weeks ago, Master Liam."

"What?"

Gibson hurriedly slipped a photo from the back of his pocket and held it up to Liam's face.

And Liam's jaw dropped for the third time that morning.

Because the photo had a man who bore a striking resemblance to him.

"This is your father, Liam."

"Brandon Price, the world's wealthiest man? No fucking way," Liam grasped the photo from Gibson and almost glued his face to it, "growing up and seeing him on tv puzzled my sister and me because we always wondered why we looked so much like him."

"That is because you are both his children," Gibson said.

"Unbelievable," Liam puffed out an explosive breath and stared at the photo long and hard, "whenever people pointed out that we looked like him, our mom always held us protectively. Sometimes she would cover up our faces."

"That's because she ran away with you two when he wanted full custody of you and your sister,"

"Tell me more," Liam said through a squint.

"It is said your mother was a stripper and your father went to a club one night, under a disguise. He hooked up with your mother and left. I don't know what else happened but he learned about her pregnancy some months later, revealed himself to her, and offered her some money to not terminate the pregnancy. When she delivered you and your sister, he offered her more money because he wanted full custody of you and your sister, upon seeing the rough life she lived. But she ran away with you both." Gibson was out of breath at this point, so he stopped talking.

And Liam was just stiff at the spot where he was because everything sounded way too honest.

"Your father went wild," Gibson continued, "he hired all the skip tracers he could get to track her down because she was on the run with his children. He wanted to arrest her, but she was smart. She hid with you both."
