The taxi driver still advised Marcel to get off near the strangers.

“You don’t have to pay for the taxi fare,” said the driver, surprising Marcel.

“I have money, sir...”

“It’s okay, it’s free today!” The taxi driver waited for Marcel until he was forced to get off with an astonished expression.

“Hopefully we can still meet again, be careful!” whispered the taxi driver, who then drove away from Marcel just like that.

“Do I look like a beggar?” Marcel grumbled while looking at his own shirt sleeve. “You think I can’t afford the taxi fare?”

There was soft, melodious laughter from behind Marcel, coming from several people who had been standing.

“Want us to take you?”
