CHAPTER 7

After the drama that ensued in the Graham's mansion, Ethan and Tony went to Paradise Valley, the city where Ethan's biological family resides.

Upon Ethan's arrival, he gaped as this Mansion could comfortably contain 3 different buildings and there would still be space. It was 3 times bigger than what he had ever seen in his life.

The drive-through had fields on each side with the grasses leveled, giving the scenery a feel of nature's touch. Ethan had some flashes of the times he spent playing with his sister, mother, and father here and noticed the gardens which still had red and white roses planted and this added color and beauty to the classy nature of the surroundings.

Tony pushed the imposing mahogany doors to the mansion open, revealing Ethan's grandfather, Mr. Ben Watson, and Ethan's mother, Brianna Watson. Ethan had vague flashes revealing some memories from his childhood.

Brianna rushed towards Ethan, holding his cheeks like she was holding her lost gold, "It's him. It's really Ethan, my son. At long last, we found you." She cried out and hugged Ethan.

Ethan was surprised at her loving reception but the hug soothed his aching heart and it felt like home, so he reciprocated the hug and for some minutes, they were lost in each other's embrace like they didn't ever want to let each other go again.

Mr. Ben Watson grunted his throat, pulling them out of their reverie, so they could remember he was also in the room as they had forgotten about him, "Don't tell me you're not going to hug your grandfather, eh, boy?" Mr. Ben grinned as he opened his arms to welcome Ethan's embrace.

"I'm so happy I found you before my time on earth came to an end. We almost lost hope of finding you and your sister, but this has given us a new hope to continue with the search for your sister." Mr Ben said warmly.

"I never expected to be welcomed with so much happiness, love, and honor. It's been a while since I felt this type of love since my foster parents died." Ethan's eyes welled up with tears that threatened to escape but he was swift enough to hide them.

"Oh, my boy, you look so lean and malnourished, I'm going to personally make your favorite dishes for you, from grilled chicken salad to steamed asparagus and your favorite dessert, a fruit tart. We're going to have a feast to celebrate your return back home." Brianna was about to rush into the kitchen before she paused and asked, "They are still your favorites, right?"

"Yes, Mom" Ethan's heart felt full as he, once again, had someone he could call mom and Brianna almost teared up but she said, "In the meantime, I'm going to send out avocado toast with the maid." At that, Brianna rushed into the kitchen leaving Ethan, Tony, and Mr. Ben in the living room.

"Ethan, so tell me how you've been surviving these past few years," Mr Ben said leaning forward on his seat as the lines on his forehead creased in curiosity and worry while he patted the space beside him for Ethan to join him and Ethan joined him.

"My sister and I grew up in an orphanage in Beryl City. When she was 18, she tried to escape from the orphanage with me as she knew that she would soon have to leave the orphanage and she didn't want to leave without me because she feared I would be adopted and she would lose me." Ethan lifted his face to look at Mr Ben and Tony who were listening to him intently.

Mr. Ben shifted closer to Ethan and patted him on his back, encouraging him to continue.

"On the day of the escape, we were to meet in the hallway after lights out so we'll go through the air vent and use the ladder at the end of the vent to climb out of the building and escape through the bushes, according to plan."

"At the end of those bushes was a van waiting for us and inside the van was one of the men that usually supplied the orphanage with beverages, who agreed to help us with our plan and then there was another man in the van with him."

"The other man looked shady but we didn't mind, we were just glad that our plan turned out well and we were on our way. When we got to a dark alley, the shady man hit the other man on his head with a gun and he became unconscious and we crashed."

"After the crash, the shady man came out of the van and grabbed my sister and me tied our hands, and threatened us that if we shouted, he was going to shoot us. As he was about to force us into another car, Elora, my sister bit him on his hand and kicked him where the sun didn't shine and she told me to run and not look back."

"Before she could join me, he pulled her by the hair and she yelled that I should run and hide, that's how I was able to escape and she was abducted. I shivered in fear and found my way back to the orphanage as I didn't have any other place to go."

"I was adopted from the orphanage home by the Christopher family who were loving and caring to me, but they struggled to make ends meet."

"I secured scholarships to finish my college education but unfortunately for me, they didn't live to see the day I graduated and well, I got married, but my ex-wife just dumped me because I was incapable of affording her needs." Ethan finished his story with saggy shoulders and a solemn look on his face.

"You've been through a lot within these few years of being away from us. I'm sorry you had to go through all that on your own. As soon as Tony told me that he found you, I put things in place to aid you in continuing the family's legacy and ensure you and your family never have to go through that amount of pain or hardship again”. Mr. Ben said softly as he signaled Tony to get the papers to be signed by Ethan.

Shortly after Tony went to bring the property documents, he was accompanied by Ethan's uncle, Raphael, who was informed of Ethan's return by his father, Mr. Ben and he ran into Tony on his way into the house.

“Where is my favorite nephew?” Raphael echoed as he walked into the living room and hugged Ethan. Ethan smiled heartily.

“Here are the papers you requested, Master,” Tony said as he handed over the documents to Mr. Ben.

“Ethan, I'm going to sign these documents into your name, including our recent purchase of the Emerald Estate at Beryl City. They'll all be in your name. Tony here is going to be by your side all the way to show you the ropes and be your guide. He has been loyal to us for 30 years. You can trust him." Mr. Ben said before signing the documents and giving Ethan the papers to read carefully before he signed and Ethan signed them.

"Congratulations, Ethan." Raphael and Tony said gleefully.

Brianna came out, with glistening eyes and a smile so wide, she shrieked, "Who's ready for a feast?"
