“What?”

Finn’s eyes widened as he stared at Dana.

“We’ve been together for more than a year. Now you want to break up with me for him?”

“Yes!” Dana answered sharply. “I feel absolutely nothing but disgust for you right now, no feelings whatsoever because you don't deserve it! And why are you so surprised about that, huh?! I mean, take a good look at yourself in the mirror! Always wearing cheap clothes. How can you afford me the life that I truly deserve?! Do you know the others are always secretly laughing at me for being with you? You have no money, no power. That is not the life I want! I am so beautiful and young, and I deserve to be with someone better than you! I told you several times that I wanted to try that Michelin restaurant, it has been over a month, Finn, and you did nothing?! Are you even a real man?! Unlike you, my love, Jerome, not only took me to the Michelin restaurant, he also bought me a lot. Someone as ordinary and cheap-looking as you can not afford to buy one of the bags Jerome bought for me even if you work hard for a lifetime!”

Then she scoffed, disgust in her eyes as she continued, “You only took advantage of my naiveness when I was just a freshman and that was why I agreed to be with you, but I was just damn foolish. I knew nothing, but now, I know better, because no girl is foolish enough to love a pauper like you.”

Dana’s words were filled with resentment.

‘Where did it come from?’ Finn wondered.

Dana held Jerome’s arm proudly. “This is my boyfriend now. From now on, I have nothing to do with a low-life like you.”

Finn squeezed his fists tightly so that his knuckles turned white. He couldn't believe his ears.

Was the mean and distasteful woman in front of him the same Dana he knew? Have I been so blind?

When he was in a daze, Jerome laughed loudly and taunted, “Did you hear that, bastard?! How can you hope to have a beauty like Dana when you're penniless? That’s really selfish and wicked of you. You’d better go to sleep and have a dream instead.”

Then he grabbed the plastic bag from Finn and shook the Trojan in his hand.

He casually patted Finn’s hand with a face full of satisfaction. “Good job, dude, for dropping us this. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ve got exciting things to do.”

Finn slowly turned around and walked away. He had enough of the humiliation.

“Oh, wait, don't you want the tip?! I've got it right here with me!” Jerome called out, but Finn kept walking without looking back.

“Loser!” Jerome hollered mockingly, then he laughed and closed the door.

When Finn came out, the rain hadn't stopped.

He walked into it, took off his raincoat, and allowed the cold rain to drench his entire body.

Dana left him… no, she apparently hated him for being poor. Why should he be sad over a woman who turned out to be a money-hungry bitch?!

“Good riddance,” he muttered to himself, telling himself it was all for the best. She wasn't who he thought she was, and it was a good thing he didn't discover that too late.

He loved her because she was different… he thought she had self-respect, and didn't behave like most girls in their department or the faculty as a whole.

Obviously, she changed.

The phone in his pocket vibrated. He brought it out and saw he got a new text message: Dear Finnick Lachlan Lancaster, congratulations! Your three-year suspension has been lifted, and your status as the only descendant of the Lancaster family has been restored. From today onwards, you have every right to an inheritance, and everything you own and more will be returned to you.

The bean-sized raindrops fell on the screen, blurring the message. It was high time

It’d been three years since his father froze his account, suspended him of his inheritance, and sent him out of the house for being wayward and reckless. Then, he had just gotten admission into one of the most prestigious universities, Citadel College.

He was left alone to fend for himself, allowing him to live as an ordinary guy in a college mostly filled with second-generation rich kids, aside from others who got in through scholarships.

He lived in hell to the extent that he almost forgot about his true identity. He couldn't even remember the times he cursed at his father even though it was partially his fault.

He lost more than a million in a day due to gambling, not once, not twice… who would have thought this was the punishment awaiting him?

All he wanted was to make his dad suffer for neglecting his mother when she was sick til she died. He wanted the man to lose money, but his family was so rich that the money he lost, the company would immediately recover it overnight.

His father decided to teach him what it meant to live without money, and he learned the hard way.

Looking back at his suffering, losing money wasn't his plan anymore. He was going to use it instead.

“It was really high time,” he said to himself, staring at the sky with a smile on his face as he allowed the rain to soak him completely.

Then he grabbed his motorcycle and drove back to his dorm.

Early in the morning, Finn got up and made his way to the CentraBank which was located in the central business district of Citadel City where the wealthiest companies in the city were gathered.

The moment Finn arrived in the district where the bank was located, he could perceive the scent of money in the air.

He quickly made his way into the bank.

As he entered, he bumped into the shoulder of a long-haired lady.

He quickly apologized, “Oh, I'm sorry. Didn't see you coming.”

“Ow! You didn't see me coming, are you blind?!” The long-haired lady held her shoulder with her hand, looking at Finn angrily with a contorted expression.

The situation caught the lobby manager, Verna Diaz’s attention. “What’s going on? Everything all right, Miss?” asked Verna.

The long-haired lady dropped her hand and sized Finn up with dissatisfaction evident in her expression.

Seeing his cheap clothes, and ordinary look, she was puzzled.

CentraBank only serves the rich and this man is clearly far from rich. What is a poor person doing here?

Verna Diaz also noticed him. “Uh, Sir, may I… ask what you're doing here?”

She was uncertain because judging from Finn’s appearance and age, he was obviously not a customer of CentraBank.

Finn answered casually, “I‘m here to check my account and possibly withdraw money.”

“Quiet!” The long-haired lady shut him up immediately. “How can someone like you have any money in this bank?! Gee, the security here is lax!”

To withdraw money, Finn had to have a bank card, and the lady sincerely doubted Finn ever saw one.

To own a CentraBank card, one must deposit one million in advance and this man didn't even look like he could take out one hundred.
