I paced outside my house as I contemplated what to say when the pressmen finally arrived. It wasn't going to be an easy deal but I knew I was going to work with that and find the solution abruptly.

The sound of the doorbell had me jolting awake as fast as possible. They were here.

I decided to have a sit-in conversation with the press because that would be even more comfortable for me to deal with than to undergo the pressure of rushing to do whatever I was told.

"I believe that you understand everything that is to happen, right?" I asked Stephanie, one of the crew members, who in turn stopped one of the cameramen.

"Mr. Jordan wants to be sure that everything is under control. He hopes that no one has leaked his address to the press."

I didn't say a word; instead, I kept on looking at both of them, assessing the situation; if I wasn't pleased with the new development, I could always reach out to a contending news station.

"I think we should begin before more stories are put out

The Next morning.I headed to the counter in the police station about to turn myself in since they had not come to arrest me themselves. "Mr Langston Junior." A man called making me turn. He looked like a sergeant. "Right, Sergeant Hudson. Can we discuss this in your office?" I inquired, this wasn't a safe space for us to continue this discussion. He also gazed around realizing what I was running from. With a small smile, he nodded, "Of course, yes, I don't think it would be polite to speak here." We headed into his office together with Josh as my witness and my phone recorder."Please take a seat." He motioned to the chairs opposite him.I felt a certain way by which he motioned to me but I didn't want to take this to heart. Maybe he was only trying to pretend not to have discussed anything with me. "About Mr coker, how far have you gone with your investigation and what have you found? It's already getting too l

Annie's calls filled my phone I refused to pick up because I needed to clear the air with the press before having that deep conversation with her especially after everything she had consumed on the internet. I wouldn't blame her for reacting that way. The camera blinked in my sight and I smiled. It was time to fully clear the rumors which had eaten deeply into my mind no matter how much I tried to prove that it hadn't. "Good morning, Wisconsin. My name has been on the lips of many for the past few months and I think it's finally time to address the elephant in the room. I have every right to Sue Mr. Coker for damage of reputation because he has taken it up on himself to become a pain in my butt, respectfully speaking." "My lawyers have also tried to contact him for a long time but he has evaded their calls leading me to doing this at all cost." I began, "I have sufficient evidence with me right here about the messages sent to him and his

I moved into my grandfather's mansion the next day because I didn't want to be the target of thieves and hired assassins, according to what I had heard Mr Coker was capable of doing. What he didn't realize was the fact that I was steps ahead of him and he would have to pay through his nose just to effect his bodily harm. My grandmother walked into my room and I knew it was about time we had that discussion I had avoided religiously the past few days. "I have heard the news and seen everything that has gone on the past few days but I purposely refused to say a thing for fear that you might tell me to shut up." I smiled at her entry point. She was skilled at getting me to do whatever she wanted just by tweaking a few things and having me rush to her aid. "Are you serious about this? Uh sincerely would have thought that you were not. I would always listen to you as long as I know you have my best interests at heart. There is no way I am going to ever discard your advice as lon

Josh's eyes rotated around the house, possibly seeking a means of escape, but that was still bad because he was locked in there. Micheal and his father, on the other hand, stood in the place of anger, vibrating on the spot. "I didn't come here to eat. I came here to iron out an issue with you, please do not try to confuse me." My grandmother raised her hand in intervention. "I don't care whatever you came here for because I need us to iron this issue out for so long. If not for anything, for my sake." She interjected, commanding respect from everyone. My grandmother wasn't a pushover, no matter how much the person had. Mr. Coker signaled to his son and both of them walked to the dining table against their will. That was the power of influence my grandmother had. I imagined if my grandfather was still alive. It would have made things easier because he would also have dealt with them in unimaginable ways which would have made them

Drumroll, I scanned the table for a dissonance but Mr. Coker's shoulders remained stiff. He hadn't come up with an excuse yet, making me smile at his woeful attempt to make my life miserable. He must have realized by now that I had better things to do with my time than focus it on what he attempted to do rather than what I could do to him in return. "I think they have a problem admitting their faults," I said, smiling a little before sipping my wine. My grandmother turned white at the information, which was expected. She had just lost a long-lost lover, and now the thought that she could have probably lost me could make her begin to think in the wrong direction. "Tell me this is not true. How can you even attempt to take a person's life simply because they have not bowed to your whims?" She asked incredulously. Mikky kept glaring at Josh telling me that this was as true as it could get. Guess who was busy recording? Me. I wanted

I shot up the moment Mikky did, pointing his fingers right in my face. "The fact that I have tolerated you enough is not going to make me fear whatever it is you think you represent. You have managed to make everyone turn against me All in the name of wanting to prove to everyone that you can school the bully. I have had enough of this nonsense.""Sit down Michael," I ordered him, pointing my fingers right at him. "You have no right to cry wolf when you are having a taste of your own medicine. You have made life miserable for a lot of people, but when it comes to your turn, you try to pass it off like you are being bullied? by me. C'mon, I expected more from you."Both guardians watched us have our share of face-off. That wasn't going to announce him win me at this conversation, neither did he want to take the back seat, so we were going to talk it out until one person decided to pipe low for the other. "You are the one who spread rumors about me right from the beginning, saying that

Gasps filled the room as he kept on pointing it at me. "You must think this is a joke right? I have wasted a lot of time trying to find reasons why you are better than me but none has come up. I am tired of seeing you gallivant around like the best kid on planet Earth." Micheal said."Drop the freaking gun, down." His father said. "I know that you might disown me after this but I don't care. I cannot sit here and watch someone who is not up to my standards come here and try to take everything I have worked for away from me." Mikky said furiously. My grandmother was shaking in her boots. We were talking about death. How pathetic could Mikky be? "You could go to jail for this." His father kept on calling to bring him back to his senses. Mikky shrugged, refusing to allow us to have a conversation. "I don't care whatever happens as long as I have my autonomy. You don't know what this means, do you? If he succeeds on you, dea

  • The Invincible Student Heir    Chapter 119

"What the hell are you saying Jordan?!" My grandmother snapped at me, diffusing detention. I wanted him to pull the trigger so that I would be rest assured he was ready to face the consequences.Right now the only thing he could do was to try to push me to the wall and pretend like he was man enough when I knew it was quite the opposite. "Why don't you put the trigger, son? I know that you are pissed at me; I don't care about what anybody says. You have to write to do whatever you deem fit. If you think you can bear the consequences then you can go ahead."A bang resounded at my door making everyone scared. "Open up it's the cops. I urge you Mst. Michael not to do anything stupid. You are not going to juvenile home!" Josh seized the moment of distraction and jumped right in front of Mikky who looked away immediately. We heard a gunshot and everyone paused. I didn't want to think that Josh had suffered the heat but it seemed so.

The crowd swarms City Hall’s steps again. Always with their banners, their chants, their 'hope'. I lean against the stone column, arms crossed. The mic waits. I don’t. “You want a mayor?” My voice cuts through the noise. They freeze. “Pick one. Not me.” Signs drop. Faces crumple. A woman in front—frayed coat, eyes red—steps forward. “But you 'exposed' the rot. You 'know' who’s clean!” “I know 'nobody’s' clean.” I jab a finger at the courthouse. Its cracked dome glints in the sun. “You think I’m your savior? I’m the guy who lights matches. 'You' rebuild.” Murmurs rise. A man shouts, “We 'trust' you!” Others echo. Trust. A fragile word. Brittle. “Trust?” I laugh. Hollow. “Trust got Gregory Tran killed. Trust let Coker fester. 'Trust' is your problem.” I turn to leave. Hands grab my sleeve. Desperate. Clammy. “Please,” the woman begs. “Just… guide us.” I shake her off. “Guidance costs extra.” ''' They follow me home. Petitions piled on my doorstep. Candles lit like a

Jordan’s POVFirst, a ding, followed by a mild vibration.A smirk played on my lips as I dipped my hand excitedly into my pocket and brought out my phone. I had been expecting this message and it came at the perfect time.My eyes scanned the notification on the phone after which I unlocked it to view it better. It was from FriendsMe, a secret platform I and Josh created when we were just kids, whispering about taking over the world in hushed tones.Back then, FriendsMe had been a platform where we could dream big and fantasize about anything. It was our safe haven where we could plot our future and plot ideas without anyone watching us.But things had changed— I had changed.“I know it is you. Behind all of this. The accidents. The disappearances. The chaos. It’s you, isn’t it?” Josh asked.I let out a chuckle as I read the message again. Jordan's POVThe scent of fresh paint and polished wood filled the air as I stepped into the Langston Consortium’s main building. Truly it was fascinating how far we have come and I was so proud of myself.Months of silence had been replaced with ringing phones, busy days and nights, we had so many clients that we had to open a waiting list and that still got filled up.I walked through the hall, hands tucked into my pockets, watching the company my grandfather built come alive once more. It was mine now and I hoped he was proud of the slight changes I made. His death didn't go unpunished and I wouldn't let anything happen to this company no matter the cost.Near the entrance, an older man in a faded suit approached, his steps hesitant. His gaze held quiet hope. “Mr. Jordan, I’ve been with this company for thirty years. My loyalty has never wavered. I—”I lifted a hand, cutting him off gently. “The past stays in the past. It’s time for something new.” I uttered in a finite toneHis th

No one said a word but you could feel it in the air as we waited for the video to play.Mr. Coker sat stiffly at the defendant’s table, fingers locked together as though he wanted to strangle me.His lawyer whispered something, but he didn’t react. His jaw worked as if grinding gravel, his eyes shifting to the large screen where the next piece of evidence played. It was a briefcase exchanged proving Coker had bribed the inspector. The official took it with a quick glance over his shoulder, counted the cash, then nodded. Mr. Coker’s voice came through as he gave clear instructions. “This needs to be handled. No complications.”Gasps rippled through the courtroom.I leaned forward, hands gripping the armrest of my chair. My throat felt dry. Across from me, Mr. Coker’s wife pressed a hand to her mouth, face drained of color. The prosecutor stepped forward. His eyes flicked to the judge, then back to the screen. “For the record, this foo

The video surged past fifty million views in hours, tearing through every platform like a storm with no intention of slowing down. Others called me reckless, a kid playing with fire, a target painting himself in the brightest red.I sat in the dim glow of my phone screen, scrolling, skimming, watching my own words loop over and over. The sound of hurried footsteps pulled me from the trance. The door swung open. My mother stood there, her breath uneven,

I straightened in my chair wiping off invisible dirt off my suit, I was to look perfect today. We were at the TV station, bright lights beamed overhead, hot against my skin but I didn't break a sweat, we were surrounded by cameras and the interview team.Beside me, my lawyer adjusted his cuffs, his movements smooth, practiced, deliberate. He smelled like expensive cologne and fresh paper, like someone who knew his way around battles fought with words instead of fists.“You good Jordan” he muttered not out of care but hoped I wouldn't make the wrong move.“Never better” I reassured, giving a smile that would be stuck on my face for most of the interview.Soon the interviewer took her seat, a woman with clipped curls and eyes that held the hunger of someone searching for a story, she leaned forward. Her lips, painted the color of ripe cherries, parted as she spoke.“Nice to have you here today” she began giving a big smile for the camera before she returned to us."Mr Jordan, given the
