A few Days Later,

My confrontation with Mikky had spread like wildfire so much that immediately I set foot into the school compound. A few people rallied around me, asking about my well-being and asking if most of the rumors they had heard were true.

I ignored everyone and continued down to my class. This conversation wasn't any of their business so they didn't deserve to get a scoop. If they wanted more information, they could go to their favorite outlet; I guess from the way I shunned all of them, they had learned how to maintain their balance.

The bell was just ringing as I entered the class with my backpack. I refused to act differently so that it wouldn't ruin my charade. Since Mikky had been able to find my location, it wasn't rocket science that more people would be interested in knowing more about me. I was ready to dissuade their efforts.

"Good morning, class. I hear that the school has been buzzing with different rumors, but I urge you all to maintain decorum, especially

"Mr. Coker, I urge you to take things easy so that we do not set everything ablaze. I believe that it is something we can talk about, and by that time, we won't have any issues. I thought this was supposed to be a reconciliatory discussion?" Mr Braxton said because right now he no longer understood why the man was trying to intimidate the boy despite being told that his son was the one behind it.Mr. Coker glared at the principal trying to get on his nerves without even trying to do too much. Why had he refused to say what was necessary all in the name of trying to do whatever he wanted? "I believe that we had concluded, even before this riff-raff came in here. I am not going to sit here and be disrespected stylishly by you or anyone. If there is going to be a change, then I should be aware of it. I am not going to be made to be a fool here." He said categorically. At this point, no one was dragging anything with him. Instead, they just kept on staring at him, and that made him even

As soon as I got a chance, I had planned on leaving this environment and probably settling down somewhere where nothing followed me. I knew that I was only just wishing but my grandfather wasn't going to accept it anymore. I refused also to allow myself to get soaked or lost in the euphoria of being an absolute standard of getting things done.I simply had a feeling that immediately I began to rely on my wit; I was going to land into trouble, which, quite frankly, I wanted to be pretty careful about. So many things were happening at the same time, and I wanted everything to be as smooth as possible. I inched closer to the door waiting for answers that came from listening carefully. "I understand if other people dictate around the house and prove that they want something else, but this person is the least of all. I cannot imagine him going about what time, making plans for when he should be resting, and begging us to take him back. Who the hell does he think he is?" I heard chatters c

As soon as I stepped out of the library I bumped into a figure, making me hiss in pain. "Why don't you watch where you are going?" I responded in irritation. Looking up I saw an unfamiliar figure whom I had never come across in this school. I rubbed my sore nose, trying to figure out what class she must be in because it couldn't be the ones that I was aware of. The female student looked up and down, assessing me, and I felt offended. I hope this wasn't another Mikky who felt like the world revolved against them because I was ready to treat them based on their acts. I wasn't going to tolerate any form of bullying. Surprisingly she waved her hand. "I'm sorry for bumping into you, but it isn't like you are not guilty also. Why didn't you watch where you were going?" She responded and I was a bit confused. "Are you kidding me? I was coming out of the library but you were walking off-handedly without looking at where you were going." I responded not wanting her to gaslight me into an a

At Langston consortium. "Why have you not been present? Is there a problem?" Jordan's grandfather inquired from his assistant, waiting for a perfect answer, but he was surprised when he didn't hear any. Why the hell were they wasting so much time before they could tell him what he needed to hear? He wondered. "I asked a simple question: why is everything at a standstill? I believe that you understand by now but this means right?" He inquired, causing Cole to shake his head a bit. He didn't want to be telling his boss everything when he had a son who was capable of doing his shit without supervision. If it were up to him, he advised the Young man to continue with his education first and later get involved with business, not that he couldn't mix both."The young master just called a few hours ago and we have concluded that I would need to pick him and his friend up. The next day had the whole school buzzing in excitement when they heard that Mr Coker was going to be present and about to share things with them. It wasn't as if everyone in the school was poor but many people had needs that he was determined to reach and solve. His son spearheaded the movement and went about announcing his father's greatness. Mr Coker wanted to capitalize on the streaming capacity of the academy. If his son's video could gather over 50 million views then it wasn't rocket science that peace was probably going to supersede that because of the psychology of curiosity. After that day many people kept on streaming on that channel just so they could get a scoop. This was a perfect time to regain or remedy his reputation. "You must be very stupid for saying that to me! Do you think that I am one of those girls that you can speak ill of and go scot-free? I will deal with you in ways more than you can imagine and nothing will happen because you do not belong to our class in the first place. I do not blame you; I blame Mikky for wanting you and making you feel special. You are nothing in the grand scheme of things, inconsequential even and I want you to get that into your thick skull because it seems like you are having a hard time doing that." Violet said. I walked closer to them. I wasn't going to watch them bully another student simply because she didn't want to be in a relationship with the golden boy of the school. This was the weirdest thing I had ever experienced that someone would be so interested in getting a fellow girl to get into a relationship when they were not even out of high school yet. I went to visit my friend's father, who was starting to recover, and I couldn't be more proud of finally being able to take care of the people who I had always imagined to take care of. It was always a joyful thing to be able to help out when it was necessary. Watching him mingle with his kids made me feel happy, like a proud parent when their children were finally doing right in life. Nothing ever prepared me for that feeling of satisfaction deep in my soul as I kept staring at him. He was one of a kind and I was happy that I knew him. At least somebody like this was not going to ruin my life, he was only going to help out. Josh would never leave me in any problematic situation as long as he could help me, so he deserved this and more, and I was never regretful of my actions. He spotted me and waved me over. "Come on in; this is possible simply because you decided to take a chance on us, and here we are. I would never have been here if someone had decided not to do it for me. Tha

Finally, I was about to take a nap around the hours of 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. It was a way for me to reduce my mental stress so that I wouldn't suffer. I wasn't looking to have money yet couldn't follow the natural rules of life. I just wanted to be able to relax and do the needful. My grandmother walked into my room with a tray in hand and a cup of coffee on it. "Darling son, I know that you must be famished." She said and I kept on smiling at her. She was patient enough not to get angry when I left the house for long hours besides school work and went on my way. Other parents would have probably tried to disturb or discourage me from going ahead but it wasn't so in her case. "I just want to take a nap. It's nothing serious but I appreciate it. I would have preferred tea anyway. That reminds me, Grandma, we need to employ a live-in maid, or if you will not be comfortable with that the person can always come and leave when it is time. My heart skipped a bit immediately. I was given the envelope containing a document that my grandfather wanted me to have. This was only done when a person was about to die, and it was supposed to be from the lawyer, not the Doctor. I knew that my my grandfather wasn't the most conventional man therefore inciting more fear inside of me.Just as I was about to flip the book open, a voice called behind me. "I suggest that you do not open it here, but till you get home so that you do not get overwhelmed. Can you do that?" He inquired from me and I was at a loss for words. I itched to tear the envelope open and see whatever was inside but decided not to according to the instructions. My grandfather could also be testing me and this was my chance to prove that I could be trustworthy. My mind reeled with various possible scenarios but nothing was as fixated as him dying. I didn't want to imagine him leaving just now. My head suddenly began to itch are the same time my hands did. It was a s

I headed straight down to the hospital to see my grandfather. I didn't like the fact that I was running the company in his stead yet he wasn't present to still give me a few guidelines. My grandmother was the only backbone I had at the moment which I didn't take for granted but would have loved his input Conducting secret meetings and also going to school in the morning was beginning to take a toll on my mental health, all I could imagine at that point was how I could be free from this. It might not be easy, but I knew that I was going to find a way to break through it. I spotted my grandmother's familiar hair from the glass mirror and paused. It seemed like she was having an intimate moment with him, and I didn't want to interrupt her just like that. I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if she didn't take this chance. "Hey, I have been hoping that one of these days you were going to surprise me by opening your eyes. The doctor says that you can hear me if you really put your heart

Striding into the company the next day was not an easy feat, especially with everything that had happened in the past few weeks. I had been looking for the perfect time to express myself and now I had it but didn't know what to do with this opportunity. Cole looked at me for a minute, not having any words to say, but I waited for him to apologize. "I might be castigated but I can explain." He said hoping that I was coming to listen to his flimsy excuses. I watched him before laughing. "You are not sorry; you are only sorry you got caught, which I am happy about. Best believe me when I tell you that this has been happening for a long time without my grandfather's knowledge. How long have you planned to poach our clients to other firms? I hope now you realize that this cannot work with me in the picture." I responded. He didn't say a word and still didn't look apologetic despite his portrayal. "If I assure you that this is just a mistake. I don't want us to go back and forth over som

So much was running through his head and all he wanted to see was Jordan to air his opinion and tell that son of a gun to return to wherever he emanated from. That would give him the most satisfying present he has ever received. When he came out of the locker room in his new attire, he bumped into Annie again. She was the most beautiful lady in this school, and he wanted to make her his, but she was reluctant,t, and he hoped that she wasn't going to do anything other than accept his proposal. "Hello, Annie." He called softly trying to take the Jordan approach. Maybe if she realized that he wasn't as bad as they had tried to portray him, then she would be more appreciative of everything she was. "I believe that by now we should have gone past this stage of staring at each other like strangers when we know what we both want."Annie looked at him from head to toe in surprise wondering why he would just bring up from nowhere and trying to project something that s

    Chapter 89

Mikky's eyes widened in horror as he realized the gravity of the dare. He was probably thinking that it was something minute and he could wing his way out of it but I was here to show him worse than he expected. This would change his perspective about a lot of things and would help him narrow down whenever he decided to do stuff. "You cannot be serious. Do you really think that I will strip in front of the school just to make you happy? Are you delusional or what?" He inquired boldly. I shook my head, relishing the fact that he now would understand the gravity of what was happening. At first, he must have thought it was business as usual but right now he would understand my point. There was absolutely no reason for him to bully my grandmother. Facing disgrace was just going to come naturally to him. "I didn't peg you for being a coward, why don't you just keep to your end of the bargain and let everyone go their separate ways?" I said purposely to egg him on. He wasn't going to fa

I decided to challenge my teachers for those poor results. I could never imagine that I would come home with such woeful results when it wasn't as though I had not read. Something told me that they had been mixed up and I decided to fight for it. Everywhere I turned was full of various discussions about how the mighty had fallen in their opinion but I didn't care one bit about that because it was just one of those things that one experiences. I stood in front of Mr Braxton's office and knocked. He was the one who was going to handle that for me even if we were not on talking terms due to his newly found attitude, I was going to ensure that I got my results. “Come in.” He said, making me walk in almost immediately. This time I didn't barge in like I used to because I knew that I was already on a tentative scale. “You are here to see me, what a surprise.” he said pretending to be interested in seeing me. How someone could go from 0 to 100° in a split second was very alarming. I had
