I looked down as soon as I was done with the school issues. My grandfather was mad at me and I could see him just keeping his cool until we arrived at his mansion.

"I asked you to lay low but you went ahead to portray yourself as the sacrificial lamb and now see where it has landed you." He blew hot on me.

I didn't think that I was at fault in this area. Maybe because I didn't conduct due diligence before jumping to save a person but it didn't mean that my actions were intrinsically wrong.

I opened my mouth to defend myself, but he raised a finger, signaling that I kept shut. This was the first time that we were butting heads together, and I wanted to believe that my actions were only going to either push him further away or draw him closer to me, and I wanted it to be the latter. "I'm sorry for not paying intense attention and thinking that everyone was like me, who needed help from a bully, but I know better now." I apologized to him.

He shook his head angrily probably thinking

Since things had gone awry at school. It was up to me to decide what I wanted to do. I decided that I would no longer interfere in issues that didn't concern me no matter how much I was begged to.Secondly, I would retain my privacy and watch other people run after finding solutions while I enjoyed everything bequeathed to me. Thirdly I would also look for ways to pull more weight into the company instead of running around with fellow high school students seeking Justice that they didn't truly want. It was going to save me time and energy, and I would have a lot more to do with my life instead of just waiting and hoping that things were done for me. A knock resounded on my door and I rolled my eyes. This was probably my grandmother coming to talk to me about how I shouldn't be angry with my grandfather or simply because he turned my life around. While she was telling the truth, I still felt like he needed to hear my side of the story and not just stump into conclusions because of hi

"Thank you for coming. I didn't know you were going to arrive as soon as possible. Your grandfather shouldn't be aware of our meeting." Cole said.I was perplexed but didn't want to show my surprise just yet. I knew that if he realized that I was not going to, I was not going against my grandfather. He would be a bit skeptical about his words, and I needed every information I could get, especially since he was a proper insider. "Did you think I was going to inform him?" I demanded portraying a look of affront. He shrugged, but I ended up understanding that he part of had more things to hide than to tell you. Well, it was in my right to deal with, yes, a lot of information and sieve out the most important parts. "I am here because I want us to have a conversation about everything that has happened so far. Firstly, I think I need to highlight that your grandfather is not at fault; instead, you had poor management of the situation, if I might be permitted to say so. If I were in your

After scrolling through my media feed throughout the previous day and studying intently for the test, I decided to also go as far as getting involved in many things, such as the school club. Probably not my best bet, but I was stubborn like that. If I wanted to change things in the school then I needed to be wiser than they were. To Mikky, he had finally defeated me but that was far from the truth. I had many people who had come to me stylishly to inform me about them being bullied by the same man but it wasn't my place to start exposing everything that I saw. I needed to keep something myself and stop every form of familiarity. Instead, I was working as an undercover agent to make sure that people got their deserved Justice. He couldn't continue being on the prowl. His father's company had taken a nosedive, but he still didn't understand where it was coming from. I smiled when Mickey approached as usual. He was seeking problems that he couldn't handle, but who was I to run away fr

I caught his arm before it could hit me and watched his eyes widen into surprise. Well, what was he expecting in the first place, question mark, that I was going to let him get away with his wicked acts because I was too weak to respond or because he had done something against me the first time? "Do not attempt that again because the next time you do that, I won't take it easy with you. You can intimidate people beneath you, not me." I responded telling him off immediately. He didn't look pleased with the fact that I didn't allow him to have victory. Mikky through another punch but I was faster than him again this time and grabbed his second arm before decking him in the shoulder. "The next time you try this nonsense, you might land in the hospital, and I'm not joking. If you have any problems with me, go cry to your Daddy. He might help you out instead of misbehaving." I warned him seriously before moving on my way. He looked at me not expecting me to handle the situation that way

Revenge had never tasted better like in that moment because the word spread around the school like wildfire and I couldn't be more proud of myself for putting them in their place without any form of problem. Snickers followed after Mickey and I knew that he was having a for yourself. "You shouldn't bother yourself with getting so close to him." I heard a few students tell each other. Mikky was right after me yet yelling at the top of his voice. He didn't want to accept defeat and it wasn't my place to accept it either. "You should warn him to stop engaging in issues that do not concern him and maybe we wouldn't have problems as much as we do. Everyone has refused to see that there is something wrong with him." He said. I refused to get involved with him because that was going to reduce my IQ to his level. I waited for a few minutes before also taking up my notebook to go over it again so that I would be more prepared for when the teacher came in. Mr Harrison, our new history te

I could sense the annoyance in Mikky's tone when he finally spoke. He would never have imagined that the script would be flipped on him, and he would have no choice but to do exactly what I asked. It wasn't going to be easy but I knew he was going to overcome his initial reluctance and do what he was asked. "I cannot apologize for helping out. That would give others the license to prance around, hoping that I would always dance to their tune simply because of him." He challenged Mr Harrison. I folded my arms and waited patiently to see how this was going to pan out. "I believe you remember who you were talking to and also realize that you are as guilty as anyone else in this. You shouldn't have taken that chance. I expressly told everyone not to distract the other simply because I didn't want this to happen. What happens if he fails and blames it on you for forgetting what he had read about?" Mr Harrison countered him. Mikky was visibly seething at this point, but I couldn't be mo

I skipped out of school immediately. I had the bell ring. This was the best time to escape before anyone could pull me back and possibly lead me into doing something that I wouldn't want to on a normal day. I tapped my school bag and realized that my phone was missing. Shit! Whoever stole my phone must have done it during the test. And that was even worse. I couldn't start tracking down whoever committed the crime because everyone was already leaving. I rushed down to the acting principal's office planning to catch up before anyone could leave the premises. That should have been during the back and forth with Mr Harrison and Mikky, which was quite a bit annoying and at the same time exhilarating when I thought about it. My grandfather must have left a ton of messages and would be worried that I wasn't responding especially after we had agreed to meet at a specific place. I thought about the clients that I was about to meet and how this might impact my chances with them. I hated g

The figure had won a mask over his face telling everyone that he was aware of this movement and was only trying to dodge possible punishments. I was perplexed and, at the same time, worried that I could be in such a dilemma, especially after I had thought that everything was over. I kept on looking at him for a few minutes, it was unmistakably Mikky. When he performed the switch I couldn't fathom because we were standing together for a long while. "That is Mikky." I pointed out without wasting much time. Doing that was only going to reduce everything that I had in mind. One of the things I wanted to clarify was the fact that he was after my life and it was time to reveal it and cause a public disgrace. I hoped that the acting principal wasn't going to attempt perversion of justice."You can't be certain." He said with disbelief coating his voice. I smiled at his trust in a boy who had proven himself not to be worthy of any trust. "Do we stake some bets?" I asked him so that he unde

The crowd swarms City Hall’s steps again. Always with their banners, their chants, their 'hope'. I lean against the stone column, arms crossed. The mic waits. I don’t. “You want a mayor?” My voice cuts through the noise. They freeze. “Pick one. Not me.” Signs drop. Faces crumple. A woman in front—frayed coat, eyes red—steps forward. “But you 'exposed' the rot. You 'know' who’s clean!” “I know 'nobody’s' clean.” I jab a finger at the courthouse. Its cracked dome glints in the sun. “You think I’m your savior? I’m the guy who lights matches. 'You' rebuild.” Murmurs rise. A man shouts, “We 'trust' you!” Others echo. Trust. A fragile word. Brittle. “Trust?” I laugh. Hollow. “Trust got Gregory Tran killed. Trust let Coker fester. 'Trust' is your problem.” I turn to leave. Hands grab my sleeve. Desperate. Clammy. “Please,” the woman begs. “Just… guide us.” I shake her off. “Guidance costs extra.” ''' They follow me home. Petitions piled on my doorstep. Candles lit like a

A reporter spills his coffee. Dark liquid bleeds across the road. 'Symbolic'. I don’t laugh. “Coker,” I say slowly. Let the syllables rot in the air. “Saint of the City? 'Bullshit'.” The screen behind me flickers. Grainy footage. Coker’s docks. Midnight. Shadows slithering. Crates cracked open. White powder glowing. Ghostly. “Drugs.” I click the remote. Jordan’s POVFirst, a ding, followed by a mild vibration.A smirk played on my lips as I dipped my hand excitedly into my pocket and brought out my phone. I had been expecting this message and it came at the perfect time.My eyes scanned the notification on the phone after which I unlocked it to view it better. It was from FriendsMe, a secret platform I and Josh created when we were just kids, whispering about taking over the world in hushed tones.Back then, FriendsMe had been a platform where we could dream big and fantasize about anything. It was our safe haven where we could plot our future and plot ideas without anyone watching us.But things had changed— I had changed.“I know it is you. Behind all of this. The accidents. The disappearances. The chaos. It’s you, isn’t it?” Josh asked.I let out a chuckle as I read the message again. Jordan's POVThe scent of fresh paint and polished wood filled the air as I stepped into the Langston Consortium’s main building. Truly it was fascinating how far we have come and I was so proud of myself.Months of silence had been replaced with ringing phones, busy days and nights, we had so many clients that we had to open a waiting list and that still got filled up.I walked through the hall, hands tucked into my pockets, watching the company my grandfather built come alive once more. It was mine now and I hoped he was proud of the slight changes I made. His death didn't go unpunished and I wouldn't let anything happen to this company no matter the cost.Near the entrance, an older man in a faded suit approached, his steps hesitant. His gaze held quiet hope. “Mr. Jordan, I’ve been with this company for thirty years. My loyalty has never wavered. I—”I lifted a hand, cutting him off gently. “The past stays in the past. It’s time for something new.” I uttered in a finite toneHis th

No one said a word but you could feel it in the air as we waited for the video to play.Mr. Coker sat stiffly at the defendant’s table, fingers locked together as though he wanted to strangle me.His lawyer whispered something, but he didn’t react. His jaw worked as if grinding gravel, his eyes shifting to the large screen where the next piece of evidence played. It was a briefcase exchanged proving Coker had bribed the inspector. The official took it with a quick glance over his shoulder, counted the cash, then nodded. Mr. Coker’s voice came through as he gave clear instructions. “This needs to be handled. No complications.”Gasps rippled through the courtroom.I leaned forward, hands gripping the armrest of my chair. My throat felt dry. Across from me, Mr. Coker’s wife pressed a hand to her mouth, face drained of color. The prosecutor stepped forward. His eyes flicked to the judge, then back to the screen. “For the record, this foo

The weight of my words had barely settled before the world caught fire.We couldn't even continue the interview because of how fast the clips circulated on news channels, social media posts multiplying like cells under a microscope. The video surged past fifty million views in hours, tearing through every platform like a storm with no intention of slowing down. "Jordan Langston exposes billionaire Coker in a shocking interview!""Explosive truth: Young heir accuses Coker of murder!""What really happened to Mr. Langston? The answer stuns the world!"Comments, opinions, speculations poured in. Some hailed me as brave, a warrior dragging hidden rot into the light. Others called me reckless, a kid playing with fire, a target painting himself in the brightest red.I sat in the dim glow of my phone screen, scrolling, skimming, watching my own words loop over and over. The sound of hurried footsteps pulled me from the trance. The door swung open. My mother stood there, her breath uneven,

I straightened in my chair wiping off invisible dirt off my suit, I was to look perfect today. We were at the TV station, bright lights beamed overhead, hot against my skin but I didn't break a sweat, we were surrounded by cameras and the interview team.Beside me, my lawyer adjusted his cuffs, his movements smooth, practiced, deliberate. He smelled like expensive cologne and fresh paper, like someone who knew his way around battles fought with words instead of fists.“You good Jordan” he muttered not out of care but hoped I wouldn't make the wrong move.“Never better” I reassured, giving a smile that would be stuck on my face for most of the interview.Soon the interviewer took her seat, a woman with clipped curls and eyes that held the hunger of someone searching for a story, she leaned forward. Her lips, painted the color of ripe cherries, parted as she spoke.“Nice to have you here today” she began giving a big smile for the camera before she returned to us."Mr Jordan, given the
