0001: The King Of War Is Back

Abandoned Pineview Hall in Valoria Prime City:

A tall figure with a chiseled face which had such a cold expression like ice stood in front of an unkempt, nameless tombstone. His black trench coat was being ruffled by the wind.

His eyes were hard and dark as he crouched and gently dusted off the sand particles on the tombstone.

"A criminal like him doesn't deserve to live!"

"Kill him!"

"Break his legs!"

The hollow voices of his ex-wife's family echoed in his mind. Five years ago, Kian Blackwood was an important figure in the entire Valoria country.

At the age of twenty, he already had a net worth of several billions. Everyone wanted to curry favor with him. He was also set to marry the top socialite, Olivia Sinclair.

She was the heiress of Sinclair's family, a rich, century-old family. The announcement of their marriage arrangement shook the city and everyone anticipated the greatest occasion.

But the Sinclair's family had other intentions. They secretly plotted against Kian. During the wedding banquet, he was drugged and lost his sanity which led him to force himself on a stranger.

Sinclair's family used this as an excuse to accuse him of infidelity and throw him into prison.

A few days after his downfall, Olivia and her parents came to the prison to force him to sign a divorce agreement.

When he refused, his supposed father-in-law got some people to break his legs and eventually got him to sign the divorce agreement.

All of his assets were then transferred to Olivia's name, becoming the properties of the Sinclair's family. Not quite long after, news circulated that his parents had committed suicide but the case was mysteriously closed.

When Kian, who was already on death row in prison, heard of the news, he wished for nothing more than death each passing day.

He could still remember the night he was dragged up the gallows by the prison guards. The executioner was already positioned at the base of the gallows, holding the noose.

Unexpectedly, someone arrived at the prison at that moment and saved him. It was an old, retired army general who had been his father's friend. He had only just returned to the country and didn't hear of what had happened until that day. The instant he knew, he rushed to the prison.

Kian will never forget what the old general said that night. "Because your father has been good to me once, it is my turn to return that favor. It's such a pity that others who your kind-hearted parents have helped choose to repay them this way."

The old general took Kian away from the prison, treated his broken bones and then sent him to the border to join the army, most importantly, to protect him.

Although Kian, who was used to a luxurious life didn't find living at the military base easy at first, he was determined and most importantly fueled by anger so he quickly learnt how to survive.

During the past five years that he was absent, he grew dauntless and fearless. He quickly achieved an outstanding performance and defeated enemies in all directions of the Southern region of the country.

He even established an army outside of the country to protect the safety and maintain peace in his homeland.

This caused him to be an enemy of several other countries, however, they could do anything but grit their teeth in annoyance and call him different names. Thus, he earned the title, 'King of War.'

Now that there were no important issues for him to take care of at Southern Valoria and the region was at peace, he couldn't constrain his rage for revenge anymore and chose to return to his hometown overnight.

Kian's greatest desire is to see Olivia and the entire Sinclair's family kneeling at his feet for mercy!

"Should we tell him?"

"It doesn't seem right to disturb the general now. He looks like he needs this private time."

"But this is important!"

Kian could hear the voices of his soldiers as they argued amongst themselves like annoying flies hovering around his ears and a frown appeared on his face.

He was just about to turn around and snap at them when his assistant, Wesley, stepped forward and lowered his head.

"General, your ex-wife is getting married again! Should I send someone to take care of them all?"

Upon hearing this, a cold light shone in Kian's eyes and he turned away from the tombstone.

"No. If I arrange for someone to easily take care of them, how will I ease the pain I have harbored in my heart for five years?"

His voice was as sharp as the piercing end of a knife as he continued,

"Death is too easy for the Sinclair's family. I will personally make them experience what it feels like to be hell on earth and they will beg me for death until my hatred is exhausted. Then, I'll use their blood to honor my parents' tombstones with an inscription!"

Every word he uttered was like piercing arrows in the dark. Even Wesley who was bowing shuddered slightly. He has followed and served Kian for five years.

Although his master was a cold person who killed people on the battlefield without batting an eye, he never knew there was such an intense hatred underneath the coldness.

Kian was quick to notice the change in Wesley's expression. He sighed and closed his eyes. When he reopened them, his beautiful black orbs were so calm one would have thought the killing intent from a minute ago was just an illusion.

"Do you have news about that person I asked you to investigate?"

"Not yet sir. We are still investigating," Wesley's voice was low, clearly still recovering from his fear. "But we will get a report in a few hours."

"Good. Focus on that person instead. The faster I get a report, the better. Don't meddle with Sinclair's family affairs. I'll handle them. You can leave," Kian waved his fingers dismissively.

"Understood sir," Wesley bowed and left quickly.
