Almost everybody closed their eyes in anticipation for the worst. Everyone except Ethan, because he was the one driving.
There was no escape, on the left lane a truck was heading towards them and on the right lane there was already a truck there. They were moving too fast to suddenly hit the brakes anyway. With skilful position, he drove in between the very narrow space between the two vehicles. Barely managing to get past before the two trucks sandwiched the SUV, giving it a very big scratch on each side. But he managed to stabilize the car and he had passed the two trucks successfully, the only consequence was that the two side mirrors had broken off in the process. The cop car behind them wasn't going to take the risk so it slowed down giving Ethan the chance to speed away.“Oh my God, that was extremely dangerous!” Leilani exclaimed when she opened her eyes. “They are children in the back!” She yelled again out of fear.Ethan looked around to be sure that his eyes were not deceiving him. He trained his gun forward and then took careful steps into the room, swiveling his head around. A solid mass crashed into his shoulders and he fell to the ground. His gun slipped away from his grip and fell down, sliding towards the edge of the room. Somehow Bruno had managed to free himself from the rope and then he grabbed the nightstand which was just by the corner in the room and waited behind the door to eat and to come in before he hit Ethan with it. The noise however, alerted Keith who stretched his arm out in front of Leilani and the kids in a protective manner. It obviously came from the room where Bruno was kept so he was being careful. His hands hovered over his gun. “Go into a room and stay there,” he instructed them. With fear in her eyes, Leilani quickly dragged the children towards the room. Meanwhile Ethan was struggling to get on his feet
Valerie's eyes were wide open. She couldn't believe what she had just heard. The accident she had with the car that almost killed her wasn't random, it was her sister's ploy. She knew that day that the brakes stopped working out of the blues, but never suspected that Renée was the one who tampered with them. Renée was equally in shock, with color draining from her face. Her grip on her phone loosened, causing it to slip and fall from her hand, and then tumble down the stairs because she was standing very close to the stairs that were descending to the floor below. Valerie took a few steps back as she shook her head in this belief. “How could you?” She accused, her voice choked with emotion. “Calm down, I can explain.” Renée tried to step forward but Valerie moved backwards. “Not another inch, don't you dare come near me.” At this point the both of them had already broken into tears. “Valerie please, I can explain. It's not what it looks like. Maybe it is but-” “But what?! B
The slow beeping of the life support machine filled the air. Trevor stood there in the room, looming over Cyrus's unconscious body. The door clicked open and Darren walked in with more supplies. “When did you say he's going to wake up?” Trevor asked. “The moment the anesthesia wears off, probably in an hour or so.” The room fell into silence again. Darren made sure that he checked the drip and then he took his needle and was about to inject something into the drip bag. “What the heck do you think you're doing?” Trevor questioned him aggressively, making him freeze. A confused look spread across the doctor's face. “Um… it's going to help him wake up faster.” After injecting the drugs into Cyrus's drip bag, he began to pack the other supplies. “So you're saying Cyrus will be able to walk after all this?” Darren paused. “It's a 50/50 chance. And it's not going to be immediate.” Trevor's lips stretched into a thin line. He turned around and grabbed Darren by the collar, choki
They all raised their heads when they heard the knock on the door. Exchanging troubled looks with each other. If the police had found them, then it meant that they had no way of escaping since Bruno had left with the car when he escaped earlier. The only other option would be to attack the police officers which could land them in much worse trouble. Ethan slowly inched forward, gesturing with his hands so that the rest of them remained quiet and calm. He moved towards the window and grabbed the curtain, pulling it back so he could peep at who was at the door. To his surprise, he found out it was Bruno. There was a crease between his eyebrows as he opened the door gently. “There's cops all over the area, if I drove out of here they would spot me in the mouth of minutes on the road,” Bruno explained as he walked into the house. Keith had his gun trained at him from inside. Bruno raised his hand and then dropped the gun. “Here I am, I'm back. And this time you don't need to bother t
Chapter 137Irene, Skyler and Samantha were huddled around the phone. It was a short clip of Skyler picking up the chair and hitting Mason with it. Everybody was talking about it, she was being seen as a girl boss. “It must have taken some level of guts for you to be able to grab that chair and break it on Mason's back huh?” Sam asked. “Well, I was just trying to save a friend.”Irene didn't like the fact that a video like that was circling social media. “Hey, why does your friend look all gloomy?” Samantha pressed on. Skyler turned to face Irene then she shrugged, “I don't know.”“I'm not gloomy, I'm worried,” she corrected, her voice sounding irritated. “Imagine what Ethan would-” I really immediately stopped herself as soon as the words flew out, she covered her mouth with her palms. Samantha seemed to pick up on this and looked between the two of them. “So what exactly is going on? I think I'm left in the dark here.”“Nothing, she just made a mistake while she was speaking.” S
Darren was practically praying that they were just walking by, his heart was in his mouth as beads of sweat formed on his forehead. Their footsteps began to fade, Which means that they were probably just passing by. The sudden shrill of Trevor's phone ringing startled the doctor almost half to death. He snatched the phone from Trevor's pocket as quickly as he could and he ended the call. His heart was beating faster with each passing second. Did they hear the noise? Were they coming? His mind was racing with different thoughts. After a couple of seconds, he came to realize that the phone ringing didn't alert them and he heaved a sigh of relief. The anesthesia he gave Trevor would only last for about 45 minutes, he needed to make his move and leave this place now. He twisted the door knob and gently opened the door, peeping first to check if the coast was clear before he fully came out of the room. He trained his gun forward and made his way down the hallway. This being the first
Ethan, Keith and Bruno paced around, their attempts to call Trevor were unsuccessful. “Do you think he knows? Perhaps he found out that Leilani and the children are no longer in the house,” the legion commander suggested. Bruno shook his head. “There's no way they would know, they don't really have so many men in Ivar. Me and the two guys who were killed were all they had here in Ivar. There will be nobody to help them confirm this.”Keith paced around. “Maybe they went on a mission or something or he's just not with his phone, we should try again later.”“No, Trevor is a very intelligent man. If he notices that all of a sudden we're calling constantly, he's going to get suspicious. Let him see the missed call and call back, we just have to be on standby.”They all nodded. The doorbell rang and Ethan slowly inched to the door, he peeped through the window to check who it was and then he opened the door. The man from earlier who had delivered the car, was standing in front of them wi
Skyler grunted in frustration, kicking, punching and slapping the interiors of the elevator. “No! No no no! Not today! Ugh!” She cried in a frustrated tone. She took a peek at her wrist watch, she had about 5 minutes to get to class. “Help! Help! Somebody help!” She screamed from inside but it was as if the elevator was down. Eventually she sat down on the floor and cradled her knees to her chest. It was already bad enough that Mr Timothy had a bad impression of her the first time they met, now this was happening again for the second time. Her phone buzzed with a notification, indicating that someone sent her a text. She picked it up and opened it, realizing that it was Raul. “Mr. Tim just stepped into the class,” the text message read. She started tapping away on her phone screen. “I know, I should have been there already but I am stuck in the elevator in the science building,” she responded. “Oh my gosh, I'm sorry? I'm coming.”Her eyes widened when she saw the message. “No, d
