Darren was practically praying that they were just walking by, his heart was in his mouth as beads of sweat formed on his forehead.

Their footsteps began to fade, Which means that they were probably just passing by. The sudden shrill of Trevor's phone ringing startled the doctor almost half to death.

He snatched the phone from Trevor's pocket as quickly as he could and he ended the call. His heart was beating faster with each passing second.

Did they hear the noise? Were they coming? His mind was racing with different thoughts. After a couple of seconds, he came to realize that the phone ringing didn't alert them and he heaved a sigh of relief.

The anesthesia he gave Trevor would only last for about 45 minutes, he needed to make his move and leave this place now.

He twisted the door knob and gently opened the door, peeping first to check if the coast was clear before he fully came out of the room.
