Valerie's eyes were wide open. She couldn't believe what she had just heard. The accident she had with the car that almost killed her wasn't random, it was her sister's ploy.

She knew that day that the brakes stopped working out of the blues, but never suspected that Renée was the one who tampered with them.

Renée was equally in shock, with color draining from her face. Her grip on her phone loosened, causing it to slip and fall from her hand, and then tumble down the stairs because she was standing very close to the stairs that were descending to the floor below.

Valerie took a few steps back as she shook her head in this belief. “How could you?” She accused, her voice choked with emotion.

“Calm down, I can explain.”

Renée tried to step forward but Valerie moved backwards. “Not another inch, don't you dare come near me.”

At this point the both of them had already broken into tears. “Valerie please, I can explain. It's not what it looks like. Maybe it is but-”
