The car came to a stop in a busy area and Keith and Ethan came down along with Frank. Ethan's face was still concealed by the scarf more so now that they were outside and you had to do it more carefully. Frank led the way and the other two men followed behind. The area was rowdy and looked like a poor side of town. It was smelly and noisy. Ethan couldn't help but feel like so many eyes were fixated on him, probably because of the way he dressed. It made him stand out in the crowd. Trying to avoid eye contact they meet their way in following Frank who was walking fast. Ethan bumped into somebody and their eyes met. The man had a cigar in his mouth and frowned at Ethan. “Sorry,” he mumbled and looked away. They came to a stop in front of a store. “My old buddy owns this place, just act natural and I'll take us to the back,” Frank said. As they entered inside, Frank shook hands with somebody by the counter. They had a little hushed conversation before Frank turned to Keith and Etha
Trevor was standing by the balcony with a lit cigarette in between his lips. He was overlooking the sea as the breeze crashed against his face. One of the henchmen walked up behind him. “Sir they're back with all the materials and the surgery can begin.”He dropped his cigarette on the floor and quenched it by stepping on it. They made their way in and headed straight to the room where they had locked up Darren. “Get up magic doctor, everything you need is here, it's time for your surgery.”Darren had been locked in here for days and he was scared of what they would do to him. Most of the things he requested were not exactly necessary but were things he could use as weapons to help him escape. “What are you waiting for?! Get up!” The brashness in Trevor's voice made daring to jerk upright. As they made their way towards the room, he leaned forward to give the doctor a warning. “Don't even think of trying anything funny because I won't hesitate to blow your brains out in an instant.
Trevor barged into the room. “What the hell is going on here!” He barked loudly.Darren paid him little attention as he was trying to stabilize Cyrus's vitals. “I asked you a question, didn't I?!”The doctor gritted his teeth and was fed up. He spun around and faced Trevor. “If you don't stand there and keep quiet and let me work then Cyrus is going to die so make your choice.”Although reluctant, there was nothing he could do but listen to the doctor. Darren kept trying until finally Cyrus's heart rate stabilized. Trevor watched anxiously from the corner rubbing his face with his palms. His distrust for the doctors sprang up and he couldn't help but ask. “What are you doing, doctor , why is it taking you so long?”“If you stand there and continue to breathe down my neck and anything happens to Cyrus it will be your fault.”His nostrils flared as he exhaled sharply, given the doctor a dangerous glare. He slowly backed away from the room and went back outside where the other henchman
Ethan looked at the man. “Answer the call,” he ordered. “Act natural and don't tell him anything is wrong unless you want a bullet in your skull.”The man swallowed and then accepted the call. “Hell boss Trevor?” “Why did it take you so long to pick up my call?” Trevor asked in an annoyed tone. “I'm so sorry, I was far away from my phone,” he replied, trying his best not to let the shakiness in his voice show. “Far away from your phone? Why the heck would you be far away from your phone!” Trevor barked angrily.Ethan and Keith shared a look. It was obvious that Trevor was obnoxious but they hadn't known it was to this extent. The man swallowed, sweat forming on his palms as he eyed Ethan with his peripheral vision. “I'm sorry, I just…” the man trailed off. Ethan clicked the gun, causing the man to tense up. “I just wanted to drink some water.”“What was that noise I heard in the background?”At this point beads of sweat had already begun to form on his forehead. “Nothing, it was
Valerie was seated on her bed staring at her phone. There was no call from Ethan which meant that he was not returning today. The door opened and Elizabeth walked in, and gently sat down beside her. “Why do you look so worried?”“It's nothing more, I know I'm just overthinking but I can't help but worry. Military missions are usually very dangerous, you know.”She smiled, “can I tell you something?” Valerie nodded slowly. “All those years ago when Desmond made sure that Ethan was sent to the military, you know what kept me going? Hope. Then I was worried sick because my son knew nothing about the military and I was worried if he would be able to survive it. Years later he returned as the legion commander.”A small smile formed on Valerie’s face. “Ethan is tough, don't worry too much about him. He'll be fine.”“Thank you.” She pulled Elizabeth into a hug. Noticing all the bags in the corner, the older woman spoke. “Let me help you get these downstairs.” “No mom, it's okay, I got it
Leilani gasped upon hearing that it was police outside. The laws in Ivar were strict and it would be very difficult to prove your innocence in a matter like this. Two men were lying in their pool of blood in her house and one was held hostage in the dining area, while another two were dreadland soldiers, the public enemies of Ivar. Ethan and Keith would definitely be used as scapegoats if the police were to arrest them. “What do we do?” she whispered in a panicked voice. Ethan had to think on his feet. From his peripheral vision, he caught a glimpse of a staircase that descended. “Is that the basement?” He asked her. She nodded. “I keep old things there and some of my tailoring materials for my business too.”“Keith, help me drag these bodies downstairs. Leilani, try to mop the blood stains off the walls, if you have some red watercolor, that would be great too, give the kids some, make it look like they’re painting.”The doorbell rang again, making everybody tense up and hurry wi
Skyler was holding her bag and rushing towards the class, she was running late already and she knew it. Today was her first official class. She set an alarm but she was certain Samantha must have turned it off the moment it started ringing and didn’t bother to wake her up. She pushed open the door and all heads turned to face her. She held her breath as if she was under the spotlight and being thoroughly scrutinized. Some people whispered things into the ears of their friends and began to snicker.Embarrassment washed over her even though she wasn’t sure whether or not they were talking about her. She lowered her head and tried to make her way to the back seat. “Hey there Dorathy, not so fast.”The lecturer, a man who looked like he was in his mid thirties, said from the front of the class. Muffled laughter emanated from some of the students and they tried to cover their mouths with their palms. “My name is not Dorathy, its-”“I don’t care,” he talked over her, interjecting her in th
The officer faced Leilani, shooting her a suspicious glare. She was standing in the distance so she couldn’t make out what the policemen were discussing, one thing she knew for sure was that they didn’t trust her. She gently pulled Keith aside to the corner. “These men are starting to suspect something, what do we do?” she whispered. Getting caught would be very detrimental to them, in this country there would be no way to save them. The government would most likely order for the execution of Keith and Ethan just for the mere fact that they were dreadland soldiers. He held Leilani’s hands tight. “Don’t worry, just act natural, they don’t have the right to search the whole house, they don’t have a search warrant. I’ll let them search a little and then demand they leave for privacy purposes.”As they were rounding up their discussion and coming out of the corner, so were the men. “Why are these children crying?” the brown haired one asked. “I thought they were just playing with their
