The elf’s words rang true in Kyle’s ears as he walked up the winding stone path. This was one of the two ways up the mountain, and the fastest path to this monster camp that was sending waves of attacks at the elven orchard.
Kyle kicked a pebble to the side as he walked uphill. The sun was glaring on his back as he climbed the foothills of the mountain. The shadow of the raven circling the air high in the sky passed by him every few minutes.
The bird’s existence made him feel not quite so lonely.
It took him the better half of the day to reach the vicinity of the camp the elven leader had mentioned. Had there been trees like the other side of the mountain, it would have been quite the challenge to find the camp. But this side of the mountain was barren, even more so now that the Locust God’s venom had been harming the earth around the orchard.
There were few plants on this side, and Kyle could easily see the camp in the distance.
